this is the true power of music... on days when I am feeling hopeless for myself and for the entirety of life on earth, I come back and listen to this song... and it gives me back a piece of myself, a piece that I lost at some point in the stress and pain of my everyday life. It reminds me that I am not alone in wanting more for humanity, not alone in having a higher vision for what we are here on earth to do, we're not just here to lie and steal from each other and seek only our self-preservation. There is still beauty, and there are still beautiful people making music that can lift my mind from the depths of darkness, where I spend too long in torturous rejection of what mankind is and has become. There is still hope.
for a second i thought i was reading a post of mine. well written frazier hughes but i'm starting to question if there is still hope? for myself i wonder
We are the music-makers, And we are the dreamers of dreams, Wandering by lone sea-breakers And sitting by desolate streams; World losers and world forsakers, On whom the pale moon gleams: Yet we are the movers and shakers Of the world for ever, it seems. With wonderful deathless ditties We build up the world’s great cities. And out of a fabulous story We fashion an empire’s glory: One man with a dream, at pleasure, Shall go forth and conquer a crown; And three with a new song’s measure Can trample an empire down. We, in the ages lying In the buried past of the earth, Built Nineveh with our sighing, And Babel itself with our mirth; And o’erthrew them with prophesying To the old of the new world’s worth; For each age is a dream that is dying, Or one that is coming to birth. Ode BY ARTHUR O'SHAUGHNESSY
Great stuff, but it reminds me of an old joke: A circus came to town and a local shop owner saw the guy whose job was shoveling dung behind the elephants and felt sorry for him, so he offered the guy a job in one of his stores if he wanted to quit. The guy replied, "What; and leave show business?!"
"This is not love, this is not love, you came here walking...." That could be a song, I guess. I'd like it, actually. "I shoulda listened, I wouldnt have missed the badger". "It's a big thing, a big thing, I'm used to them" *dreadful bass*
