    I think if u fry the onions and garlic with chilli first it might bring up more amazing flavours, I just love caramelised onions.

    Could you use less salt and add half a stock cube instead or would that not work so well?

      +Rhys Sadler-Price You add salt for two reasons. One, it brings out really nice flavors in the ingredients, and also seasons the pasta as it cooks. Two, salt reduces the boiling and freezing temperatures of water, so adding salt will help the water to boil faster. You can get away with less salt, you'll still have a nice meal, but the pasta itself might not have as much flavor and might take longer to cook. Adding half a stock cube might add nice, albeit different, flavor, and I'd say add and stir it in right before it comes to a boil, not while the water's still cold.

      Mate I know what salt is for and don't need a wall 'o text explaining it to me. Stock cubes are pretty salty, hence the dialling back on the salt itself. I just wondered if it would work with the flavours (depending on what type you go for obviously). Perhaps I should have been a bit clearer in my original question, so apologies for that.

      Rhys Sadler-Price No I'm sorry I just like sounding like a nerd. Wasn't too sure if you were aiming for like a low sodium alternative, though. I also don't use stock cubes much, I usually make my own stock, so I have no idea how salty they are. I stand by my wait till the water warms up to add it statement, though. It'll dissolve a lot easier, I imagine.

      +weazerrr Totally! Cherry tomatoes are just small and easy to handle but any fresh tomato will bring a great flavour to the meal! Have a go!
