Complaining is easy. And there's a market for it. What I see less of is anyone putting their money where their mouth is. Lots of people complaining and then continuing to support the crap they complain amount.
Me too. In fact, I think his 99% of movies are garbage video on Film Courage was the first one I watched. Chris Gore is the one person in the world I would love to talk movies with. I honestly thought I was the only one or one of very few who thought 99% of movies are garbage. They have been (in my opinion) since probably 2016. I thought 2014 was the last good year for movies and 2015 was the last ok year for movies.
I think the bottom line of why 99% of movies today suck...is because studios make movies for themselves, not audiences. Let me refine that a bit...99% of HOLLYWOOD movies suck. Internationally, movies are still produced for the purpose of entertaining the paying public. The people who actually allowed Hollywood to succeed by spending their money expecting to be taken away from their lives for an hour and half, are now forced to hear rants about how stupid and misguided they are. Hollywood just doesn't get the very simple premise that the customer is always right. Any business that forgets that...eventually won't have any customers.
Advice for the future, generally the mixer in the room has an aux out. If you bring a little recorder and an adapter from XLR to 1/4" (and a short XLR to XLR, just in case) you should be able to plug into the aux out, turn up that aux on all channels used and turn up the master aux and you should have good quality audio for every mic. Just a pro tip. Great panel, otherwise
2023's year-to-date box office is up 12% versus 2022,. This year’s domestic box office also reps a 72% surge over 2021’s $4.3 billion. business looks to be improving, with 100 wide releases anticipated to hit the theatrical calendar next year. That’s still down by four movies from this year’s 104. Sources don’t believe we’ll be fully back in business until there are 120 titles. 2019 counted 143 wide theatrical releases.
Not only the camera battery died. But also the nervous system of the camera operator. 🤣🤣🤣 Great panel crappy sound and a nice good spirited audience! Great thanks

Uhm, didn't Chris Gore said they were using the soundboard audio in order to have proper sound? I'm 90 seconds in and already on the brink of getting a headache...
It's narcissism and education. We now live in a world where a child can stand up and say they don't need to learn things, and shocker they grow up to be writers who can't write anything that is anything outside of their own viewpoints or experience (and their experience is VERY limited).
Thank you for making this panel available on UA-cam for us who weren't there, I watched/listened to the whole thing, great discussion, and well moderated, which is so important for this type of thing. One of the best things about the panel was that all of the panelists respected each other and everyone had their chance to say what they wanted to say. Just a great panel!
I keep seeing the divide between criticism and action. When can we get back to accepting valid critiques and changing? No body wants to change they just want to keep doing the same thing over and over again.
The losses of these 250M dollar films are mounting. The change or shift by studios take time. I'll posit that we probably have another year of movies that will drop due to the following: - covid created a backlog of films either in the can or paused productions....this is why we saw so many movies and shows crammed into the past 3 years - it takes a lot of planning and production for movies or TV shows so there are many currently in production that will have more woke content Like all movements....and there have been many films reflecting those causes going back 50 years.....they die out whether due to fatigue or financial problems. There was Me Too....which got hijacked by BLM....which evolved into WOKE. This too shall pass. Don't go to movies....stop buying the product. I'm a dad with a 12 year old so I have to take my lumps. I don't however go to grown up films with my wife...saves babysitting cost....we haven't seen a movie for us in 2023.
It’s purely ego at this point. A lot of these hacks who call themselves “creatives” keep doubling down because they can’t accept that maybe they aren’t prefect and their so-called “enemies” were right all along. And it’ll be a cold day in the Sahara before they admit that.
I had purchased a Marvel shirt right around the time Avenges Endgame came out and I wore the heck out of it. Now when I flip through my closet looking for something to wear sometimes I stop and take a look at it to try to remember the good times me and my friend's would be excited about going to those movies but now it represents something completely different so that literally stops me from wearing it.
For the "name 10 books meme", many people can name 10 books they have actually read, they are just scared to name the wrong 10 books that aren't approved by their woke overlords.
They took classic books out of schools. I read To Kill a Mockingbird, Huck Finn, Steibeck books, etc in middle and high school. Now in my kids middle school ELA classes they are reading the Hunger Games series. Today's kids have no culture except TikTok.

How many times have you watched a film that’s dumb and every character decision makes no sense unless you turn your brain off? I could probably mind the woke agenda if the storytelling and filmmaking basics were there.
The best part of the movie was that it had good male characters. They were not perfect people. They had just endured so much during the war. But despite that, the characters chose to push forward, rebuild society, sacrifice for the good of others, act honorable and courageous, etc. The Japanese culture is so beautiful.
