Alfa launched this vehicle as "Alfa Milano", but since it is produced in Poland, an Italian politician put pressure not to use this name, so Alfa decided not to go into lawsuit and just change the name from Milano to Junior (a name that was formerly also used already with Alfa Romeo) - although the whole campaign, badges etc. was already finished under the Milano name, they even had the world premiere under the name Milano. A very unusal process in the Automotive industry. What do you think about this?
My 2 cents: I do favor manufacturers building in their home country where they are coming from, but I think you have to split this argument from the pure naming process. If you take it that seriously like that Italian politician, a VW Passat needs to be build at the equator, a Cupra Formentor needs to be built in Mallorca, a Hyundai Kona in Hawaii etc. - very unrealistic. Oh and a Porsche 911 needs to be built in a police station of course 😉🚔

I quite like the looks - just a pity they couldn’t have made it a hatchback, rather than a mini SUV, as a successor to the Giulietta, 147 and 145/6. And, having heard and seen a 147 GTA this morning, the idea of an Alfa without a rorty petrol engine takes one getting used to.
I've owned a 1975 GTV 2000, a 1983 GTV6, and my dad had the 116-derived Giulietta and the 33. Obviously the 105-series GTV 2000 was the purest Alfa in design and driving. The GTV6 is now a classic but was considered a weird design with awesome 50-50 balance and a terrible transaxle. The Giulietta used the same De-Dion tube and transaxle as the GTV6 with the 105's 4-cylinder. The 33 was a "world car", FWD, but still more fun than the equivalent "whateverbox" small 4-door. One time when my GTV6 was in the shop, I had a 147 Selespeed as a loan car. The transmission was a basket case, kept putting itself in neutral because one of the "flappy paddles" was too flappy. But comparing it to a Toyota Corolla hatch... everything was just nicer. The leather seats. The satin finish door handles and other metal parts. The instrument panel. The way it had "Benzina" instead of "fuel" despite being a RHD car. This 2024 Junior reminds me of that 147. And that in turn reminds me of the 147 GTA, a FWD two-door hatch with a 3.2L transverse mounted V6 and basically nothing special about its diff. 184kW straight into the front wheels with hardly any computer interference. Madness. Glorious madness.

A great review, thank you. This really gives me hope Alfa Romeo is back. I would like to see what Alfa do with a slightly bigger platform, perhaps to replace the Giulia with the Ferrari 6 cylinder, but this looks fun. At the price I would now rule out a Mini ALL4 and a Brabus #3 which are, in my view, the obvious alternatives. The Stellantis platform is really quite impressive and shows how it can be adapted for different tastes. I really respect that.
4:47 I reckon the word you want here is "binnacle". Technically all instruments in front of a steering wheel are in "the binnacle" but if we say "classic binnacle" or "exaggerated binnacle" or something like that, most car enthusiasts would understand it means design that highlights the circular design of the instruments.
Bravo Alfa Romeo for injecting the personality of the brand into the EV product. You see the styling cues that hark back to other great alfas. There is no question about it, it’s an Alfa. Bravo for putting hardware on the vehicle that you can tell it handles like an Alfa. EVs don’t have to be bland boring and without personality. Alfa has a rich history of vehicles that connected with consumers and I am pleased to see that they placed an emphasis on this with their first EV product. It definitely appears that they took the approach of making this an Alfa first before EV. Bravo Bravo!!!
I would assume it's because he isn't reviewing the seats from the perspective of them belonging in a sporty, track-ready vehicle; which the Junior is not. I think this more honest and practical approach to reviewing for the car's intended target demographic is a good thing.
@@Thomas-xy4sh at this point Alfa Romeo is as Italian as Jeep is Italian. All that remains is the sentimental name, the company itself had long been sold off.

I hope it's drives like an Alfa! Would be great with a 2.0 Turbo petrol engine with plug-in hybrid or just hybrid tech attached, and 280++ HP, paddle shift 8 speed auto with AWD or RWD. I've sat in the standard seats which have no lateral support and are too soft in the base. Scratchy interior and exterior plastics. Makes the interior feel cheap. Great colour in Etna Red with those lovely AR design alloy wheels. Alfa logos are everywhere, especially on the interior. It's trying too hard to be an Alfa and not a Jeep Avenger. If I was in the market for this type of vehicle I would save some pounds and buy an Avenger, it's virtually the same vehicle. Typical of the small SUV sector (they are not that practical). Smallish boot and lacking rear passenger leg and roof line room. OK if you have young children but no good for average/tall height adults especially on a long journey. The 'Junior' name was mainly associated with 2 door AR models of the past. I wish AR would re-imagine the 1970's 105 Series 2000 GTV 2 door. They could use the current Giulia (Georgio) platform with petrol hydrid engines. The 2.0T would be a fantastic seller in my opinion. Good video.

Thanks for the review. Do you know if the infotainment screen can show UA-cam, Netflix etc..? Coming from a Tesla this is a Godsend for the many hours a month spent at charging stations.
That cable solution may seen clever but it really isn't. Whoever came with it certainly doesn't own or use EVs. The front hood (even in a Tesla) is not a convenient to open/use as the back. And Teslas are a lot better than ICE based hoods with the inside latch to insure you dirty your hands. In the middle of the long hood (so your clothes can rub on one of the most dirty parts of a car) sits a much smaller and thin box (surrounded by the car exposed working parts) where you must align a several meter long cable to store it. Yes, if you routinely use the cables they are ending in the back. If they wanted to be clever they would have redesigned the under booth.
if the price is comparable to other Stellantis (not ds overprice), I would take an alfa over lets say citroen, just because I always wanted one. And now Alfa with Stellantis architecture should be more reliable

The crazy part is that there's already room under the hood/bonnet, BMW just refuses to add storage. You can buy aftermarket frunk bins at least.

yep 400 is just the official figure, will be rather 250
i like the front
A frunk? That’s a joke! It’s got no engine in the front so what are they using all this space for? If Tesla can create a food size frunk why can’t Alfa? Lazy space design…
Out of consideration…
The alfa capture or lbx? All cars look a like! 😮
Does this guy wear same clothes in all of his videos?
This Alfa is too much plastic all over the place
It's looks terrible for AR
Veloce is 280 hp, not 240.

Maserati , alfa romeo , mclaren = junk
This is not a real Alfa, it is a sporty-dressed Peugeot 2008. Alfa Romeo died with Marchionne; Stellantis will rebadge Peugeots' cars with the Alfa logo. Poor Alfa😔
Volkswagen group does this with all their other car brands as well lol
