@@slscamg I disagree. It is a value proposition. Depending on how long you plan to own the vehicle for and depending on how you use the vehicle, it may make financial sense to opt for a regular gas engine. If most of your mileage is freeway driving, the hybrid drive train is being used for very little if any of that type of driving. If you are driving very low mileage every year (like my wife who does a few local trips per week with the kids), then the amount of driving and fuel savings is not enough to offset the vehicle purchase price premium. The gas vehicle is also a lower cost to maintain, theoretically, so there is a risk savings there. I am not saying hybrids are not useful - if they are priced right in line with a gas vehicle, then there is likely very little downside. I purchased a 2018 Atlas for a much lower price than a comparable hybrid (all of which are more compromised in passenger/cargo volume), so it was not worth the additional cost to buy a hybrid, even now, even in California. It gets 26-28mpg on the highway, but averages 17-18 around town - with the mileage we drive it, I can live with that.
You could make the argument either way but to me with Toyota quickly ditching the 2GR/1UR/3UR and basically making their entire lineup hybrid that they would have left a lot of customers in the dust who would then could be persuaded to jump into Nissan who isn't making everything a hybrid and in some cases still using the old proven powertrains. Either those customers don't care for Nissan or they have accepted to jump into the new era of Toyota's powertrains..
Calculate your fuel savings over 100K miles and see if that would pay for the extra cost of the hybrid. Personally, I'm not particularly interested in a hybrid because most of our miles are highway miles where hybrids offer little benefit.
I don’t think Nissan has any hybrid engines. Maybe use the Mitsubishi PHEV tech. If the Honda/Nissan alliance goes ahead, they will be able to use Honda tech.
Considering that this is the Platinum model, then most models of the Blazer would have more horsepower. Also, it's interesting that you focus on comparing to the Lexus. Isn't that Infinity's job?
For how big it is, it is fine. I got mid 20s in all the non hybrid midsize CUVs we tested when my wife and I were shopping around whether 4 or 6 cyl.. I got 30+ in the highlander hybrid but it can feel a bit slow which to me isn't a problem but clearly a tradeoff.. It is interesting to see how Nissan has clearly avoided hybridization as much as the other makes and I thought there were enough Americans who were anti-hybrid (aka 2 powertrains to fix/replace) that their sales would do alright but hilariously America has dramatically shifted towards hybrids quite suddenly in the past couple years..
241hp is rough. I wish they offered hp and tow numbers and engine tuning for people willing to fill it with premium gas. 268hp like the Infiniti would probably be noticeable.
Nissan is a lesson no one should forget, they are at the stage of too little too late. People have been for years to get rid of that bad transmission - hopefully they will listen now as they are on the verge of bankruptcy.
If I was in the market for a nice SUV, this would be near the top of my list. The engine and badging are a let down but I would prefer them over paying another $10k now.
Look of the HVAC? Beautiful. Execution of the HVAC? Awful. No quality haptic feedback, yet the entire panel will push down on your inputs. At least it was that way on my Ariya. This Murano looks very well executed overall.
@@MichaelSmith-kr9qw But they ditched the V6 which the Pathfinder still has. And this turbocharged 4 cylinder engine probably doesn't get better MPGs than the V6.
@naveenthemachine what I'm saying is, while it's great that they introduced a torque converter automatic, they should have paired it with the existing V6 like they did with the Pathfinder. The VC turbo engine that replaced the V6 has been known to be a very problematic engine.

Those wheels are horrible. Hopefully there are different wheels. My 2018 Platinum gets 34 mpg on the road, I hate to give that up. I had guessed $55K for the Platinum, so it's a bit cheaper.
its too bad it took like a decade and near bankruptcy for Nissan to finally listen to the public and give them something resembling a model someone would consider over the competition.
Those ugly black wheels and blackout packages don't do this vehicle any favors. Is the 9-speed automatic transmission of the ZF German POS Chrysler, Range Rover, and Honda used at one time, and still used in the Chrysler Pacifica? I will take imitation leather interior to real leather any day considering imitation leather doesn't crack.

@@naveenthemachine everything you listed is subjective. Hot take - most people who want a Lexus (luxury/actual premium) are not going to cross shop a Nissan. It is brand disparity - and Lexus has the better track record which has value for most Lexus customers.
One thing not mentioned is this looks like an improved option for those wanting a new Ford Edge since they're not making those anymore
Always liked the Murano but for a brand new 2025 model it’s a big mistake that it’s not a hybrid.
I agree in today’s world you need a hybrid. Most people will see under 20 with typical suburb driving and school pickup line idling.

Should have been a non-turbo Hybrid with a regular transmission. Hertz is going to get one hell of a deal on these.
I really like it based on the review. I hope it is a success for Nissan. They could use some good news. 😢
All new Armada, all new Murano, all new Kicks, last year of Altima, end of Titan and a merger with Honda. Busy year for Nissan.
