I still don't really understand the hype with Estonia?? Honestly think it was right to be voted out. The live performance was rather cringe to watch on TV
Thanks to the jury for Anja's song qualifying. It is very different from mainstream, and this is the issue people was dealing with. With a voice like Anja's, the song stands out as it should. I believe many people love the song, and are just slowly realizing how great it is. To be honest, this is the issue, and might be the purpose of the songs message. Many didn't qualify this message, I suspect.
It might seem mainstream at first listen, I agree. :) This is not a typical mainstream song, and this gets me curious to find a song with a similar appearance and message. But I have not found any.... This is what I like about Eurovision, to be presented with songs you wouldn't have listened to otherwise. Have a listen to Anja's new EP-album. This is fabulous. Not my kind of music, but I love this because it is young and full of vitality. It makes me curious in a good sense.
I was very heartened to see that Hungary finished second in this semi-final. The moment I saw his national final performance, I said to myself, "This could actually win at Eurovision." Although it didn't, it did finish really highly, especially so on this night. I'm also surprised that the juries ranked it lower than the televoters, but I'm happy that the viewers saw the quality that I did.
What I don't understand is that Israel came third overall in this semi, but then places 23rd (yes, that's 4th from last) in the final. Why is the gap soo big? How is this possible?
Its vocals in the grand final were a LITTLE bit worse... However, the running order was the guilty one... Opening the grand finally usually is a punishment instead of a privilege
Raylan Arbizu that is actually true ,opening the show can go three ways, the song can either score really badly, Score averagely or in some rare cases get a top result. it just so happens that Isreal this year got the bad fate of performing 1st . First of all "I feel alive" was a good upbeat dance anthem but it wasn't the best dance anthem of the contest this year ,is real have sent better for example Golden boy in 2015, second of all the performance, the dance routines ,the dancers and the staging was very cliche we've seen it all before . and last the vocals in the final were horrible,in the rehearsals and semi final 2 Isreal Imri sang much better ,I don't know what went wrong with his vocals in the grand final but it was horrible and I was so disappointed coz I actually liked the song but the final performance was just not good , so I'm not even surprised they got such a bad result in the final. I say Isreal should send mie fiengold again but with an even better song and hopefully she'll qualify. in all fairness from this semi final I would have removed Croatia cos I never liked that song from the start his ability to sing in 2 voices is just spectacular but the song and the staging was too corny for my liking. I would have also replaced Austria with Serbia and Macedonia , just simply coz i wasnt really too bothered about Austrias song ,but i never actually disliked the song and in all fairness nathan trent did earn his space in the final ,because he performed really well,he sang perfectly, the staging worked out and actually went with the song,he looked nice and it was a cute song and hes a very likeable character ,so over all there wasn actually anything wrong with the song or the performance. I can understand why Austria qualified and it was certainly better than what they sent last year so well done to Austria I just preferred Macedonia and Serbia to go through. Well done to Bulgaria for winning the semi final 2 I knew they were gonna win it and it was well deserved , same for Netherlands and Hungary they both deserved a top 10 as for San Marino we all knew from the start that it was gonna be an utter disaster I just can't actually believe San Marino thought they were gonna get far with this trash of a song they sent , it just looked like two middle aged parents trying to be all cool and urban on a night out. no offence to valentina and Jimmy they both look good for thier age and their vocal ability is outstanding but the song is just so cheap and basic it cant actually go anywhere. and i hate to agree with our British wiwi blogger but hes right when he said san marino might aswell just call it a day they're not improving and its the same thing every year since 2008 they've been in the contest and they only qualified once and when they did they came 24th in the final. I'm just received that Belarus made it through they really deserved it and in my opinion on of my few favorite belarusian entries.
Vicki Guims I think San Marino's best entry by far was Miodio - Complice in 2008 and that it's a travesty it never got through to final. They should try with that same band again next year.
The only thing that I can't fathom how FYR Macedonia did so bad with televoting. Everyone loved the song when it was out, what exactly happened? If Blanche can pass through, I don't understand why Jana didn't.
I really didn't enjoy Estonia it was very creepy and off putting. Also the bus against Denmark is real. To say it's not a good song is just a lie ? It is a well written song with good lyrics well performed.
You have to remember that a country getting 0 from all the juries/televotes doesn't mean they all ranked them last. That country might have been ranked 11th by everyone. A 0 doesn't mean the song was hated by anyone, just that it wasn't loved by anyone.
Why did the people at home not like Anja? You Wiwi guys say you understand, but when you reviewed her rehearsal Padraig said the complete opposite. He said that the ''X-Factor winner quality'' of the song would make her popular with the televote...
Am I the only one who noticed that Bulgaria scored higher in their semi than Portugal did in their? That's pretty cool! Kristian was basically top 3 with all of the juries except for Switzerland (who placed him 5th, still not bad). Not even Portugal was top 3 with all of the juries. That's amazing!
Pimenova Hungary was too unique and risky for stupid juries. Too good for them. I always thought it would get a massive support from public, not juries heh Televote always tend to like the most effective ballad. That's why Bulgaria did well :) 2017 was like in 2015 when Grande Amore and A million voices were Top 2 by televote.
Everyone knows including the acts that the jury punish you for any sign of bad vocals (even Greece modified their high note to scrap in) . Serbia and Switzerland both choked under pressure and their vocals were pitchy. Anja (Denmark) didn't make any mistakes there is your difference right there.
It's not just about rap. Juries always underrate Romania, Hungary, Poland. Romania was in top 10 in televoting in 2012,2013 and 2014 and was low in the jury voting: Cezar was 24th(Ok maybe not the best song but 24th!!!), Mandinga was 19th and Paula&Ovi had 51points. Also in 2015 was a big differnce between televoting and jury. So it's not just because of the rap.
You know, who gave San Marino the only point in the semi final 2? Right, we in Germany xD. My friend and I gave them one call, just because we thought they're coming last, but hey, they were 10th in our televote xD
It was deserved that Estonia did not qualify. Wiwi should really stop sobbing about the duo not qualifying. It just wasn't good enough. Their ranking with the Jury vote was really unfair though. Verona was not the second worst song of the night!
Hungary is one of the most original and innovative songs and has such an important message so even if the juries hate rap, they really should have recognised what was such an amazing song! Yet again I really don't understand why you hate Denmark's song so much, it's not an X Factor song, it has tropical house influences and I personally really like listening to it! I do think she should easily have maybe had a dancer or two and just done more on stage but still
I'm not saying it was amazing, the staging and performance certainly wasn't but I'm trying to figure out where they got this 'X Factor' comparison from. Every X Factor winner's song I've seen has been like soppy, blatantly a dull overused ballad. I'm simply saying this song really isn't as generic and sobstory-like
I'm surprised that Denmark got so few televotes, because when I was watching the semi with my ex who had the app where you can rate all the acts, lighting up that building in Kiev (not actual voting), it suggested that on average people gave it 10 points.
I really liked Croatia, it was such a stunning performance for me! I loved a lot violin and cello part! So I was really happy they were in the final!!!
So "Who did the televoters help or hurt"? Is that question allowed too? I mean, come on guys! Are you guys also take into account the fact that juries rank all songs, look at all entries? Instead of two or three 'crazy freak shows' like Bernardo is actually hinting at. Yes, Eurovision is a performance show, but it's also a SONG contest. And that's exactly what juries are being asked to do: Judging a combinatio of factors, including song quality, vocal quality and stage show. And again, juries don'like 'crazy freak shows'. Simple as that.
From the beginning I never understood the fascination of Estonia's song.I never liked it, thought it was a cheap, cheesy and old fashioned song. Their live performance was not helping too I may add, vocally this was not up to standard, and that guy's looks in the camera...awful. I think on cruise boats they offer better entertainment then this.
@@Taevas___ You react to a comment I made 2 years ago wow. Well if you do a song for Eurovision , where initially it is all about the song, making an old-fashioned cruiseschip Entertainment song is indeed criticism. But in all its just my opinion of course...its all just a matter of taste.
Serbia will better in the long run not qualifying this year. They need to go back to singing in their own language and then will start seeing top 10's for them again.
Well, it might be that Estonia and Malta's songs are a bit dated (though I like them both, especially Verona), but why did the juries put Estonia low, but Malta pretty high then?
I believe the whole jury system needs a review. I work in assessment and a jury of only five members does not give a result which meets the requirements for validity and reliability. Each jury should have a minimum of 25 members who cannot confer with each other. If a country has the funds to host a Eurovision contest, they can fund a proper jury.
lmao william. I struggled to define switzerland for more than a week... and then you come and call it an "85 prom night in bucharest" lmao.. 100% acccurate... thumbs up
I don't understand why San Marino got only 1 point. Their performance was great, and if Serhat could come 12th last year I don't see why they couldn't have qualified this year.
The jury resultat is SO MUCH BETTER than the televote results. THANK YOU JURIES for saving Nathan :D "Running on air" is so underrated and deserved much more points from the televote both in the semi-final and grand final as well.
I think you're a bit a tough on San Marino. I actually enjoyed that performance the most on the night and thought they might have a chance of qualifying. I wonder if ageism might played a part in the result. Not so much for them but also Malta and Estonia.
*SUGGESTION* : From next year, qualified countries who performed early in the semi-final should perform late in the final, and vice versa, qualified countries who performed late in the semi final should perform early in the final. *PLEASE* let me hear your thoughts!
I just had a thought about the point that was made about the translation of the song to the stage. Since really good studio tracks didn't qualify or were marked harshly by the jurors (Macedonia, Belgium Serbia), would it be a good idea if the jurors were given the studio track to listen to and after, they'd watch the full performance? I'm also trying to think of a similar way to show the tele voters how good the studio versions are (again with Macedonia as a good example). Is this a good idea? After all, jurors and tele voters need to be voting on the full package: the song AND the staging.
Nicola Schembri I totally agree. Afterall it's a song contest. People should be voting on the studio version too. I feel so bad for FYR Macedonia. "Dance Alone" beats everyone out in the competition maybe with the exception of "City Lights" by studio version.
Serbia's song was very forgettable and combine that with a boring production and vocals that weren't up to scratch live you have recipe for non-qualification.
no, it means partly , that some of the ones who voted Austria in SF2 , liked other songs better ,songs that werent in SF2, or that simply made more of an impression on the day of the final. Also it means, that since there are much more votes from much more countries in the final, the amount of votes that would constitute "32 points" (for example) , would have to be much greater. mind you, 32 points doesnt mean, 32 people voted. also 0 points doesnt mean , 0 people voted. Just not enough to register as 1 point.
Dutch Man the old system actually screwed acts over more because an entry would have to place highly for both the jury and public *in the same country* to even get points. That's how Il Volo lost so many points--they might have been high in the televote, but the juries sandbagged them for an average ranking below 10th. At least with this system, entries will get their televote regardless of what the juries voted. Granted you would think this system would make the juries more transparent, but I guess that's something the EBU and each broadcaster needs to figure out....
Guys, did you know that Mihai Alexandru had this year his second top 10 Eurovision entry, as a composer, with 'Yodel it!'? The first time was in 2003, when Nicola, his wife at the time, sang 'Don't Break My Heart' and finished 10th.
I daresay Hungary's mark down with the juries was partly over the neofascist government in place as well, and the reluctance for Budapest 2018 over that- Portugal has a democratic government and following the implications of Kyiv 2017, there was probably a desire to return the contest West to a popular and non aggressive country.
heppolo Maybe. On the other hand, I am also classically trained. But I would have marked Romania and Hungary a lot higher, because the song content was good. I have quite an eclectic playlist though. To me, the jury decisions made no sense on a musical level - they all seemed to be marking staging and choreography instead.
The qualifiers from the second Semi-Final were much satisfying than the first SF! Finland not qualifying was just a crime but the second SF had Hungary and Belarus qualified, so I was happy!
Bernardo saying Hungarian staging was simple and that makes the low.. but Portugal what was? XD Clearly both had atmospheric arresting staging.. and televote loved both. Staging argument is so wrong. And also Netherlands and Australia pushed by juried with that stagings.. Bernardo's point is so wrong yes. Juries simply prefer Generic boring songs than memorable etno songs or unique song.. and that's bullshit from them.
nil erra I just don't agree at all, its almost like I think you are 100% wrong on your speech. I am against everything you said and this actually never happened to me. wtf
I still don't get you lol I just said Hungarian staging wasn't the reason to make juries rank it low. (What Bernardo wrongly said) Specially comparing to Netherlands or Australia staging. If you don't agree good for you. But staging was not the reason xD
Estonia was rightfully annihilated by the juries. The song was easily the second worst in the semi. Laura and Koit had 0 chemistry. The staging was black and white and completely sterile. How are you surprised that the juries killed it? It's so obvious
Remember that the juries have a job to do. THey have to analyse these songs on many different factors and rank them in order. I can only imagine what goes through their heads. They are not snobs, think about how many wannabes come to their offices and studios every day for auditions. They too want to see and hear an act stand out!
Yep, to say DENMARK's song was rubbish is definitely ridiculous. Especially the comment where the guy in the blue shirt said that he would replace ESTONIA with DENMARK. Verona? Really? That was one of the most hideous and senseless songs, lyrics were very silly. That's how you can tell that WiWiBlogs is in URGENT need of some real music/industry (educated) professionals. This would challenge the Jury's votes and would provide a better and objective insight about the televoting. DENMARK was one of the strongest in that Semifinal and the bookies were behind it.
James Veen Hi James, Yes that is in the final. However, this video is for Semi-final 2 where the Jury placed Denmark 5th, and so did the bookies' odds. The final had other stronger ballads such as Lucie Jones which is why there were not as many votes for Denmark. However, it still ranked in the top half (jury votes only) out of all 26 finalists. My point is that for the Wiwiblogs to say that the song was rubbish or belonging to the bottom 3 of the Semi-final 2 is foolish and innacurate. In addition to this, not all members of the Jury are technically 'professional' neither. My point is that the Wiwiblogs should try to have at least one member with that professional expertise in order to avoid all opinions to be as ridiculous as these given that Denmark was clearly not a bad song. 😊😊
Hi Jorge, I hope the same too. Correct, the song was very high in the Semi-final 2, this video presented here. Well deserved. Now we have two clear results, thankfully. People will start to find out more about music quality because of this. This is much more complex. It's alright not to like the song. We all have our personal preference, so it should be. Professionals can judge that the song was not rubbish at all, and definitely not for me. Yes, they have to have at least one professional among them, to calm them down when needed, and make the team more sober. And, where is the girl who used to love Anja? Don't remember her name. I'm going to see Anja singing this Friday in Denmark. What should I tell her? :) :)
ArjanHier In Semifinal they were only 9th. It wasn't only running order. You need to be someone's favourite to get points. Moldova performed 7th and look its televote score.
nil erra It wasn't just the running order, indeed, but it played a huge part. Being in the first half automaticly lowers your chances, statisticly speaking. Not to mention that the songs before and after O'G3NE overshadowed them. People will forget a song when stuff like that happens, even though they think it's of high quality.
Yes. Running Order can kill you. But if O'g3ne would swap draw with Lucie Jones for instance.. I think they might get some extra points but its overall score would'nt been higher than 25 or 30 points. You need to make an impact and stand out. Lights and Shadows wasn't hated by anynody, but it struggles to be someone's favourite.. that's crutial for the televote.
Come on guys! Estonia was so bad! nothing to excite about...zero emotions. I disagree with you saying that Eurovision is a tv show, it's actually the biggest song competition where the real talents should win and be appreciated, no those acts who only are fun but meaningless.... Like my favourite Ireland that didn't even qualified (WTF???) does amazing for being a non-qualifier, as it's the only non-qualified song which reaches tops of charts worldwide as it become number one in Armenia among others, so who is the winner here?
Let's not pretend that the jury scores of Estonia, Croatia and Romania are surprising. Estonia: Cheap, cheesy, low quality, modern talking bullshit Croatia: cheese fest Romania: Not a quality song
The fact the Juries ranked Romania so low does not surprise me at all. Romania was very low-ranked by the juries in the final, and got 4th mostly through the gift of televoting, much like here.
At my watch party in TX where everyone but me were first time Eurovision watchers, the key word is ENTERTAINING. Most everyone did not rank Romania and Croatia in their top 10 because they were not entertaining to them, but instead they were distracting. They weren't fun either, just distracting. They couldn't wait for their performances to end.
Estonia should have qualified. They were 6th in televote. 17th place in juries is just harsh. The live performance wasn't perfect but to put them next to last is just ridiculus.
Well, it's a song contest, so vocals shouldn't be on the first place for jury, because othervise, let's call it Voice of show of perfomances - if we want to judge how cool people climb LED walls (like Lazarev last year). So I think it could be considered secondly, after the song itself. Singer here is like a model on the podium. And song - is lirics and music. Perfomance is for televote.
William forgot that the juries did not vote on the broadcast show. Estonia's performance on the dress-rehearsal night did not have a technical problem.
Televoters need to be wowed the first time they hear a song. They are not required to overanalyse and rank a top 10 of songs. A typical televoter wil vote for one song maybe once or maybe the max. amount allowed. If televoting gets complicated like in Germany's national selection, it becomes a turn-off to voters. ' one call that's all' is a typical televoter.
As a big Verona fan - I just cannot fathom how the juries rated it so ridiculously low. My big fear for Estonia was the televote, I thought coming just before Israel viewers might not vote for it.. but they did to some extent.. enough to take Estonia to the Final with a half-decent jury vote! Baffled 😂
Yes, Estonia should have gone through, but the juries probably thought it was cheesy and dated. Second to last? I'm just shaking my head. It's the biggest crime of the year! I feel sorry for Estonia, because they should have qualified last year too, but they didn't :( I kind of think this semi was so bad, I mean there were soooo many bad songs, that the jury didn't even bother to listen to Verona when it came on + they probably got distracted by Koit's strange...ness. I don't know. I'm sad :(
Estonia's song was very average, cheesy and dated. I wasn't bothered that it didn't qualify. Serbia are underrated for me - I really liked the song, the staging wasn't great but it should still have qualified.
I really thought it was a sure qualifier, but I think other songs took it away, with or without Verona. Some songs should just be there without being qualified. Good filler songs, just funny songs. Estonia's song was a good filler-song, nothing else. Like San Marino.
I still don't really understand the hype with Estonia?? Honestly think it was right to be voted out. The live performance was rather cringe to watch on TV
+Roly I don't understand it either. The televoters liked Estonia and they didn't like The Netherlands? Unbelievable....
I felt like it was a bit too cheesy and dated for me. Those looks that guy gave me was just weird.
Omg Roly ! How the fuck did I find you here?
Estonia was enjoyable and catchy. So public voted for it.
OMG Look at yourself and find the meaning of cringe in the mirror.

Thank god for the televoting in this semi.
who else has noticed that Juries always bring Malta up and televote always bring them down
The only thing that I can't fathom how FYR Macedonia did so bad with televoting. Everyone loved the song when it was out, what exactly happened? If Blanche can pass through, I don't understand why Jana didn't.
me too...
I think it was more the clash with the backing vocals- both them and Jana sounded fine but not together because they didn’t harmonise well
I really didn't enjoy Estonia it was very creepy and off putting. Also the bus against Denmark is real. To say it's not a good song is just a lie ? It is a well written song with good lyrics well performed.
Ewan Reynolds
Denmark was generic, boring and predictable af. That's why nobody in Europe voted for it xD
In this semi I prefer the jury top 10 sry....
Herr Lebensbaum Me too!
Herr Lebensbaum
Thanks God Romania and Croatia made it.. cause we would have had a super boring final
I don't like these songs so I wouldn't mind.
You have to remember that a country getting 0 from all the juries/televotes doesn't mean they all ranked them last. That country might have been ranked 11th by everyone. A 0 doesn't mean the song was hated by anyone, just that it wasn't loved by anyone.

Cause you need to be someone's favourite to get points.
Denmark was quite generic and forgettable. Other entries were more enjoyable
The Netherlands' song wasn't appealing to the televoters, which was understandable but the juries definitely got behind them!
Ruby Chiang Yeah! I'm happy to see that the juries were able to see their unbelievable quality!💕
"A Rapper who was very talented." #ICant :-I
In this case i like way more the votes from the juries than the televote
Austria's song was soo underrated...
I prefer the juries above the televote at all points.
Pimenova
Portugal had Moldova and Belgium in its semi. Even Sweden we might say. Or Australia with juries.
Bulgaria had an easy scenario.
nil erra Hungary seemed more like a jury favorite than Bulgaria. It's surprising that a ballad did so well with the televotes too.
Pimenova
Hungary was too unique and risky for stupid juries. Too good for them. I always thought it would get a massive support from public, not juries heh
Televote always tend to like the most effective ballad. That's why Bulgaria did well :)

I'm from Denmark, and i'm sad everytime Denmark is a topic ;(
Jonas Svenstrup I'm not from Denmark, but I have the same bad feelings as you have... 🙁😔 I really love "Where I Am".
Thank you soo much!!:)
Yeah. 💔😞
I am not surprised about Romania or Hungary's jury points as the jury don't tend to vote for rap.
It's not just about rap. Juries always underrate Romania, Hungary, Poland. My friend and I gave them one call, just because we thought they're coming last, but hey, they were 10th in our televote xD
But it's Eurovision SONG Contest!!!
Hungary was amazing!! I'm glad televoters got behind Hungary!!
Ruby Chiang ESC is combining vocals AND PERFORMANCE.
yowaddup Yes, I know that and televoters tend to look more into an artist's performance!
Macedonia should've gone through. Better than Croatia by a country mile. Jana did not deserve 15th.
It was deserved that Estonia did not qualify. Wiwi should really stop sobbing about the duo not qualifying. It just wasn't good enough. Their ranking with the Jury vote was really unfair though. Verona was not the second worst song of the night!

Tropical House? Where?
It was generic and bland.
Agree on Hungary. Such a masterpiece
I'm not saying it was amazing, the staging and performance certainly wasn't but I'm trying to figure out where they got this 'X Factor' comparison from. Every X Factor winner's song I've seen has been like soppy, blatantly a dull overused ballad. I'm simply saying this song really isn't as generic and sobstory-like
I disagree, Denmark was amazing.
Juries with Romania is pretty legit too!!
Romania was the only complete trainwreck in the competition
Serbia and Switzerland were robbed! Serbia so classy, Switzerland so sophisticated, but Europe chose circus from Romania and Croatia instead.
How is 'Old Fashioned' a criticism?
@@Taevas___ You react to a comment I made 2 years ago wow. Well if you do a song for Eurovision , where initially it is all about the song, making an old-fashioned cruiseschip Entertainment song is indeed criticism. But in all its just my opinion of course...its all just a matter of taste.
Yes!!! I was waiting for this!!!!!
I have to say that I agree more with the jury than with the televote.
"And a rapper who is very talented" nope. just nope. Vocally Alex was just not good.
Don't you think it's wierd that jury gave the highest score to Lithuania (if we are looking at the Baltics! ) Like! What they were thinking?
Lithuania and Latvia were amazing! Estonia, however deserved 0 points, such a terrible and overrated song
Антон Шаронов
Cause they overrate Malta no matter what.
I'm so happy Hungary was second in the televote! Good job Europe
WHAT THE HELL?
Anja was the best in the final VERY UNDERRATED....still my winner
I believe the whole jury system needs a review. I work in assessment and a jury of only five members does not give a result which meets the requirements for validity and reliability. Each jury should have a minimum of 25 members who cannot confer with each other. If a country has the funds to host a Eurovision contest, they can fund a proper jury.
lmao william. I struggled to define switzerland for more than a week... and then you come and call it an "85 prom night in bucharest" lmao.. 100% acccurate... thumbs up
Thank you so much! I was struggling too and then after rewatching it it just hit me.
Why do they hate Denmark and Serbia as they were my first and second
I don't understand why San Marino got only 1 point. Their performance was great, and if Serhat could come 12th last year I don't see why they couldn't have qualified this year.
Haz Hartridge well... the thing was that serhat is well known by turks so the diaspora helped him.
AustrianEurovision That might be part of it but he didn't get 0 from the juries like Jimmy and Valentina.
I agree with jury.
The jury resultat is SO MUCH BETTER than the televote results. THANK YOU JURIES for saving Nathan :D "Running on air" is so underrated and deserved much more points from the televote both in the semi-final and grand final as well.
LINNEA93C 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Also, it was such a pity that Nathan was a little sick 😪
LINNEA93C
He got points from like 10 countries in televote. Not that bad
I think you're a bit a tough on San Marino. I actually enjoyed that performance the most on the night and thought they might have a chance of qualifying. I wonder if ageism might played a part in the result. Not so much for them but also Malta and Estonia.
Romanias staging was great? 2 cannons that didnt do a thing, other than giving him something to climb on?:)))
Kids not knowing what they do. Do I bash them?
*SUGGESTION* : From next year, qualified countries who performed early in the semi-final should perform late in the final, and vice versa, qualified countries who performed late in the semi final should perform early in the final. *PLEASE* let me hear your thoughts!
Aleksander Petersen YES!
2nd in the semi and 4th in the final... fml
Yep, Austria in this years contest is what made me think of the suggestion!
Aleksander Petersen But it really depends what song they come in with
Depends largely on how much is needed for each act's staging to be set up.
I felt so sorry for Serbia! Serbia definitely deserved the Grand Final!
Teodora N ikr! they're completely different!
Serbia's song was very forgettable and combine that with a boring production and vocals that weren't up to scratch live you have recipe for non-qualification.
Ruby Chiang it deserved top 10 in the final too
SO HARSH ON DENMARK GUYS DON BE SUCH HATERS
On point, agree
I actually agree with the jury this time.
Televoting:
Austria - 32 points Semifinal
Austria - 0 points Final
That means everyone who voted in the semifinal regreted it??? Lol
no, it means partly , that some of the ones who voted Austria in SF2 , liked other songs better ,songs that werent in SF2, or that simply made more of an impression on the day of the final.
Switzerland, Ireland and Estonia should have been in the Grand Final
i hate this voting system, the juries are not proffesional and the televoters are unfair, i want the old back with 50%
To be honest, I just want the juries abolished completely..
Dutch Man Thuis stemmers zijn juist slecht. de thuis stemmers geven te veel punten aan acts die zoooo vals zijn. dat doet de jury niet
I wanted estonia in the final, it was for me one of the best songs of this year
I would remove the jury voting altogether cause they have no clue what they're doing, plus they have it in for Croatia 2 years in a row.
How was Ukraine aggressive? Stereotypes about Eastern Europe are just ridiculous...
Also Hungary neofacist? Where did you get that from? Just beacuse someone told you this?
Michaś Kichaś Hungary’s government is openly racist. Ukraine isn’t aggressive per say but it’s not stable at the moment for European standards.
If Estonia was serious about qualifying, they should've invested in better staging. The song itself is memorable, and thats the only good part.
I agree with Bernardo; it looks like the juries penalised inappropriate staging and choreography.
heppolo Maybe.
Austria deserved to qualify! The juries were a great help!
Bernardo saying Hungarian staging was simple and that makes the low.. but Portugal what was? XD
Clearly both had atmospheric arresting staging.. and televote loved both.
Staging argument is so wrong.
And also Netherlands and Australia pushed by juried with that stagings..
Bernardo's point is so wrong yes.
Juries simply prefer Generic boring songs than memorable etno songs or unique song.. and that's bullshit from them.
nil erra Hmmm, no. I don't agree with you, at all!
Jᴊᴀsғ CʜᴀɴɴᴇʟTM
Good for you.
At least, give some thoughts rather than just saying I don't agree at all XD
nil erra I just don't agree at all, its almost like I think you are 100% wrong on your speech. I am against everything you said and this actually never happened to me. wtf
I still don't get you lol
I just said Hungarian staging wasn't the reason to make juries rank it low. (What Bernardo wrongly said)
Specially comparing to Netherlands or Australia staging.
Am I the only one who legitimately thought San Marino was robbed? In Australia there was huge love for it, our commentators wanted to vote for it...
Remember that the juries have a job to do. THey have to analyse these songs on many different factors and rank them in order. I can only imagine what goes through their heads. They are not snobs, think about how many wannabes come to their offices and studios every day for auditions. They too want to see and hear an act stand out!
ROMANIA was cheap CIRCUS !!!!! Please HONEY !!!
Notice how many of these countires placed low by the jury are either Eastearn or Southern European...
Estonia and Lithuania are nothern tho.
Denmark came 13th overall voted by the "professionals", the jury. Among the best songs in this competition, and there were many.
I have a big crush on Bernardo 🙈
Awww thanks xx
Bernardo Pereira 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈😍
I'm spewing that Ireland didn't get through.
OG3NE from The Netherlands was amazing, they should have end up in the top-5!💕 The televoters were not able to see their quality!😭
The running order killed it in the final
ArjanHier
In Semifinal they were only 9th.
Just to correct Chris, Waldo's People won the juries' wild card in 2009.
8:15 what the f___
Let's not pretend that the jury scores of Estonia, Croatia and Romania are surprising.
Estonia: Cheap, cheesy, low quality, modern talking bullshit
Croatia: cheese fest
Romania: Not a quality song
What was Austria's plan for their staging that they couldn't do?
he apparently wanted to actually fly in some way, but it wasn't technically possible. Could have looked really cool I imagine.
Can't use Waldo's people as an example as they qualified in 2009 as a jury wildcard, the public didn't want them.
Portugal didn't have a song and it won the entire contest.....now you can't blame San Marino for thinking similarly!!
By the way, Chris' picture is freezing and glitching again. I know... The UK has terrible WiFi! :D
Baffled 😂
Love your rewiev. We all whaiting for grand finale chat
The televote top 10 is way better
Hi wiwibloggs! I've uploaded a video with a selection of 12 candidates who should represent The Netherlands in 2018. Who is your favorite?
Yes, Estonia should have gone through, but the juries probably thought it was cheesy and dated. Second to last? I'm just shaking my head. It's the biggest crime of the year! I feel sorry for Estonia, because they should have qualified last year too, but they didn't :( I kind of think this semi was so bad, I mean there were soooo many bad songs, that the jury didn't even bother to listen to Verona when it came on + they probably got distracted by Koit's strange...ness. I don't know. I'm sad :(
11:45 What happened
The televote top 10 is better
Morey M.
It's always better :)
I don't understand the jury's. This was the worst semi-final ever.
Like San Marino.
macedonia got robbed
I'm still upset about Estonia not going through to the finals. It was an amazing song and I loved the performance, I did not find it cheesy.
