I made my children listen to these gals in the eighties and now I get to make my grand daughter listen to these gals these days.

Thank you so much for posting this wonderful documentary on one of the biggest girl groups of all time, sadly almost forgotten by the younger generation.

My parents were this generation so I came to know the Big Band music before any other. It's so nice to learn the story of the women who's voices are familiar to me. Thank you for posting!

Born to "40's-era" parents, my childhood was saturated with big band music from my folks huge collection of 78's. I didn't know other kinds of music existed until I was 5 or 6 (hello, Beatles!). I learned to sing...and sing pretty well...by listening endlessly to the amazing vocalists of the period...Bing Crosby, Jo Stafford...but VERY early on, the Andrews Sisters' laser-perfect harmony spoke to my soul like nothing else ever had. I'm thrilled to finally hear their story. Thanks So Much!

I heard the the Andrew Sisters were so popular that the big band orchestras refuse to be on the same bill. Now appearing The Andrew Sisters with the (Name any orchestra) They were always have top billings.

Thank you very much for your documentary! Although I am Russian and understand little in English, it was very interesting for me to watch, I learned a lot of new things. Nowadays few people know about Andrews Sisters, especially in Russia, but I am glad that some people love this group as well as I do, I would very much like to meet Andrews Sisters fans. In any case, Andrews Sisters will remain forever in my heart!

I 👀 some of the videos yesterday enjoyed that jaunt down memory lane. It made me think of my mom ,late mom and her older sisters who are also passed away. At the time when they 3 were growing up My aunt older sister took care of everyone especially my mom who was the baby sister, but as older people they didn't get along as well , but they came together for our family when my mom needed all of us to be there to help my mom go to heaven peacefully. And she did .So this documentary made me think of them all together ❤️. ❤️

This doc reminded me of when I was a young buck. The of the soda shop was ending. The old boys use to gather after dinner, all ww2 vets. They loved Auther Godfry and telling tales of the old days. They loved the Andrews sisters. Loved them. I liked their beat, but to a young dude in the 60's, Bob Dylan held more allure. Still it was nice to hang out with them. Very few were as loved as these ladies were.

The color movie clips taken on the sets of some of their early 1940s Universal movies are really eye-catching because the actual finished films were in black & white, so you never saw any of the actual colors of the costumes or sets.

But, isn't it commendable that Christina kept the spirit of The Andrews Sisters alive, for a newer generation, just as Bette Midler did, in the previous generation? I think so and I'm a huge fan of The Andrews Sisters.

Never mentioned was Patty's inability to accept Maxene's lesbianism. Her 'secretary' was in fact her lover before being adopted. Maxene's other adopted children were estranged and "Lindy' got most of her 'mother's ' estate but for some insurance that went to the other two.

    • @cmcb09

Reuben Hart they also never mention as Patty’s foster daughter confirmed to me that Laverne essentially drank herself to death. Keep it light seems to be the protocol.
