The great Andrew sisters deserved this respectful tribute! They were an amazing and talented group and their legacy lives on. What an interesting story regarding Maxine and bittersweet at the same time. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the world just embraced diversity instead of worrying about what goes on with other people? Thank you so much for another wonderful visit! Have a wonderful weekend 😊
Hello Steve! Thank you so much for this video. So many wonderful songs and memories of the Andrew Sisters. Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy is one of my favorite songs. A wonderful group. Thank you and have a great weekend. Blessings - Judith 🎭🎵
Another great video Steve! I love the Andrew Sisters!! My dad loved listening to the Andrew Sisters and I remember seeing them in Buck Privates. I, also, did not know about Maxine
Steve you do such a historic and respectful presentation. Others I’ve heard are not as well done as yours. Keep up this final send off for these stars.
I Do remember the songs , not the group or sisters, but them songs are still heard. I never heard anything about them so it is a first for me . Aw shucks they closed it off to public! Interesting! Nice Tribute! Thanks for scanning around showing the scenery! Thanks Bob
Hi Steve, Thanks for sharing this story on the Andrew Sister's it's amazing Thanks to you I got to learn alot. May they Rest in Peace and there memory and music always live on 🙏 Have a Wonderful weekend.
I've always had a thing for Maxene! By the way, you panned passed Brian Keith and his daughter's memorial. I remember him killing himself shortly after his daughter's own suicide. Another interesting fact is his step mother was the actress Peg Entwhistle who killed herself by jumping off the Hollywood sign. All fascinating stuff to someone stuck over here in England! Love Your channel.
@@TheGraveyardChannel Oh, right, thanks. I put "Brian Keith" in Search on your UA-cam page and it didn't throw it up. That's why I asked. I'll have another look....😀
A thing for Maxine? You do know Maxine was a Lesbian. Patty was prejudiced and refused to speak to her after La Verne (the peacemaker) passed away and told her that if she contacted her again she’d sue her. When Maxine died of a heart attack Patty was very distraught as she knew she’d lost her chance of reconciliation. She was never the same again.
The Andrews sisters were so special and the music was so fun. I can remember as a child watching people all of a sudden get up and start dancing to their music. I think their music was the diversion from the seriousness of the war and just breathe liveliness and happiness into the times. I didn't know about the situation with Linda when I was a child, however, it seemed to be a situation that wasn't out of the realm of normal but always a big secret. I guess as long as nobody talked about it it didn't exist!? Sad times
"Boogy woogy bugle boy of company B" 👍 Yeah my mom loved to sing and dance she looked like she could have been part of the 4Th Andrew sister, she loved them. Of course way B4 my time but I remember mom teaching me how to do it later toward my teen years! We also used to pretend to be the temptations on the fire place brick.its a no wonder she pushed to go to dancing school👯♂️💃👯♀️💃.thanks for the memories great trip Steve😊
I always appreciate how you produce your videos in a way that has us viewers feel like we are a visiting family friend you are graciously entertaining by taking us on these tours… I truly enjoy the in-depth info you offer, while making it feel like I am in the passenger’s seat next to you.
I didn't know they were so successful. They were right at the top of popular music in their day. I remember some of their songs when I was growing up in the 60's which stood the test of time. Thanks for the upload, Steve. Kindest regards to you and Jim DJ from the UK
That’s so interesting to learn that about Maxine . I still love the Andrew sisters and their sweet harmonies to this day . I have a tradition of playing Bing Crosby Christmas cd every year on Christmas Day , and of course love those numbers with the sisters singing with him . I remember seeing their movies as a kid throughout the 70’s. Great vlog Steve
No I never knew of the ladies but glad they got to be happy and be legal. I love their music even today and the big bands too.that was years ago. All that is as great now as it ever was. I did not know their private stuff so thanks for sharing.
Talk about a blast from the past. Probably before my time but my Mom had some of their records. I also remember the Lennon sisters. I really appreciate your channel giving reviews of forgotten & overlooked people You do a great job
America's Wartime Sweethearts. If Maxene found her happiness with another woman, good for her. That's all that really matters. I actually didn't know until you mentioned it. So thank you Steve, you taught me something today that I didn't know yesterday.
These ladies were certainly iconic. I remember my grandfather having some of their records. It is interesting to see one sister buried separately. I really would have guessed they would be near each other.
Excellent Steve! You never disappoint. That is so sweet what Maxine did by adopting Linda. You’re right though, it’s sad that they had to go through that just because Maxines mom and partner were together. In a perfect world, we would love and live in perfect harmony and everyone is equal.
Question for me is: What was the age difference of this couple that one could legally adopt the other? Not that there's anything wrong with that. (Seinfeld episode reference intended.)
Hi Steve, thanks for this latest video, my late Auntie loved the Andrews Sisters, we had a tribute band for her 90th. She loved it. They live on through their music.
My brother best friend and mine he knew The Andrews sisters when they grew up on Cutler Street in Worcester Mass the house The Andrews sisters grew up on is still there there's a lot more to this story but it's wonderful that he got to know them they were his next door neighbors their family the Andrews family the couple doors down from his family and he knew the sisters great group of young ladies great family
Hey Steve, I used to listen to their album in the 70,s! They were a wonderful, talented trio! Loved all their songs! Thanks for sharing 👍😊! Stay safe and we'll! God Bless!
Hey Steve, I really like your videos. Please keep on posting them! I really appreciate it not only when you pan around slowly, but also when you don't point the camera down and I don't have to see your feet walk across the grass. It's hard on my vision--thank you for understanding this!
Very fitting tribute I'm glad you covered these guys steve. I mean girl's... Lol. I was born in 1968 and I'm still a fan of them and listen to them every now and then. What talent.... they certainly were great! Thanks again Steve you take care out there be safe and we'll see you later!
It seems Patty was the more charismatic and animated of the three sisters. All three were such good singers and performers. Thanks for your videos. I look forward to watching them and learning something new about past famous people.
Hi Steve. Not too long ago i discovered the Andrews sisters and i love them! I did read somewhere that Maxine did adopt Linda. Times were very different then . I also heard that Patty did not get along qith Maxine and i don't think they were on speaking terms.
Hi Steve! Great episode man. The Andrews Sisters were before my time too, but I am very familiar with them, and I love their music, and that era of music was magical. They had some really fun and catchy tunes, but my all time favorite Andrews Sisters song is a collaboration they did with Bing Crosby called Pistol Packin’ Mama. What a fun song. I think I’ll listen to it now. Thanks for sharing the video. Take care man, and I look forward to the next episode.
They had a style,no one could surpass.Loved them, also they were very beautiful.RIP you will be loved forever in the hearts that love.you..Thank you for being so kind,to our men and women in Service🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Hi Steve! This is an excellent video! I'm a retired New York City Public School Music Teacher and Therapist. I enjoy watching your videos; they are so educational. If I had known about your videos during my teaching years, I would have had my students watching your videos. Keep doing this excellent work!
I generally avoid graveyards so you can imagine my hesitancy but because this seemed to be more of a celebration of The Andrews Sisters I could not resist thank you for this video and the information you have won my subscription
I love their voices! Their Christmas Album is my favorite for the holiday season. And I love The Bugle Boy from Company B, it is one of the best songs from them. So peppy and so cheerful. We need more of that happy music today! Thank you for making this video!
Hi Chef, you might be thinking of the linen sisters who I did a video about a couple of weeks ago. They were regulars on the Lawrence Welk show. Although I guess it’s possible that the Andrews sisters were on too!
Interesting as always, and being younger I had no clue about what you mentioned. They were amazing singers. I did have to smile about you saying how the one sister maybe had enough during life with her two sisters and was buried elsewhere for eternity! Thanks Steve.
Hi Steve ! Maxine and Patty were estranged for many years after their sister LaVern died. They were still estranged when Maxine died. Perhaps it was Maxine's "secret" which caused the rift. Perhaps it was LaVern who held the three of them together. Who knows? I love the old songs and music from the'30's and '40's. The "Big Band" era. The Andrew Sisters were great. There is a video on You Tube of hte sisters with a hilarious appearance by Shemp Howard. Cheers to you and Jim. Stay safe.
What incredible harmonies these ladies had, can understand fully how they captured the hearts of so many during WW2. Will be home soon and look forward to getting things back to normal from a monetary position, Tuesday the 18th will be that day. Have a great weekend my friend and thanks for your patience!
I have a miniature record about 3 inches across that has them singing "Pennsylvania Polka" on it. I used to be able to play it on my Mickey Mouse record player when I was a child.
Great video about an act way Before my time. But the big question from Cheers is if the Andrews sisters and Beverly sisters Came to a Junction who would have the right of way .? I miss Cheers
Another great video Steve. Wonderful tribute to the Andrew Sisters. I didn't know that they weren't all buried in the same cemetery. I remember being suprised by that when I first seen it.

Ahh, the Andrew Sisters. But, I must confess, I am absolutely in love with Doris Day, now that you mentioned her. Great vlog, again, as usual
Doris REQUESTED no gravesite after she was cremated. I'm a huge Doris fan too
My mom was a huge Doris Day fan as well. I grew up watching her movies with my mom.
