That stick was made by Japan Games in California. The company still exists , but it is very likely that the guys that made these went on to create MAS sticks .. I have found several ads for these.
Yep, that jives with the print ad at 6:47. It's a little hard to read, but "From Japan Video Games" seems to be what I make out. I love this thing, it's still my go-to genesis controller.
@@Reaperman4711 Now the interesting question is: Did the guy who made MAS sticks also make sticks for Japan Games? I suspect this is the case. So it would be interesting to know IMO. It would be quite the origin story for MAS sticks
@@TheJackelantern Thao Nguyen's old linkedin doesn't list anything but MAS, but has him at Westminster CA (714) which is the same metro area but the other side of LA from 818 area code from the superstick ad. People move certainly around, but I was hoping that would have lined up a little more perfectly.
@@TheJackelantern There are also several construction differences between this and my post-2000's MAS controller. MAS is all-mdf (vs particle+ply), does not have t-molding wrapped onto the bottom edges, and maybe most unusually, lacks the lip for the bottom panel to sit on. The first two differences might show an evolution of technique, but the 3rd, would be nothing but a step down from the superstick.
Not a bad MAS clone or whatever. I'nd d say the next best thing to real MAS sticks are the X-ARCADE SOLO STICK. I own two. Modded em with IL EUROSTICKS and universal control boards.
Actually not a clone.. From what I understand it may acttually be the otherway around because Japan Games, who made this controller may have existed prior to MAS. Infact, all the ads I can find for Japan Games for these controllers appear to predate any of the MAS ads I have thus far found. It is hard to say for sure who was first, but all of MAS products that look like this one seem to be in later dated ads
I just bought a 3DO Supterstick off of Facebook Marketplace. Any info on the magazine and issue? I would like to track down the company that made these.
unfortunately, I don't know. If I recall, that image was pulled from a random forum post that I can't locate right now. Since you have one, what is inside? A custom board, or a padhack like mine? I've always wondered if my insides were actually original.
@@Reaperman4711 I literally bought it yesturday so I won't know until it gets here. I will be opening it up, but I suspect it will be a standard 3do controller board. I will let ya know when it arrives. :)
I have my Controller in.. I will post in the 3DO channel tomorrow at some point and you can take a look at it.. I still have to open it up and etc.. Cheers!

Pretry cool anyway man
do u know what type of screws holding the joystick in place
They're carriage bolts. These specific ones seem to be marked 'EAGRE.'
But will it beat the power glove?
I would leave the joystick lever just the way it is and replace the buttons with Sanwa buttons.
