As I see it when watching different FSD testers is that Tesla really must upgrade their Route planner. That will definitely make a huge difference in the fsd performance.
John, the car staying in the left lane wasn’t a “big mistake”. It is not how you or I would drive, but others might choose differently. If an Uber driver or taxi driver did the same thing, would you think it was a “big mistake”? A big mistake is something that is unsafe or dangerous. When FSD drives in a chill mode, it is not a “big mistake”.
I hope Tesla is training END-DESTINATION scenarios. Especially finding parking in a crowded parking lot or even parallel parking in a busy downtown street.
The free right that it stopped on is a good data point. I have a number of free rights in my area including a circle with some free rights prior to the circle. That will be a good test.
FSD is a little like food. Both ultimately have one purpose. One to sustain you, the other to get you from A to B safely. If your steak is medium and not medium rare..it will still do the job. Maybe in the future, FSD will satisfy every individual's preference, but A to B safely will satisfy me in my lifetime.
Why so many speed bumps... I only want to go 5 -10mph over the limit.....🤔Expectations meeting reality. 😜 They can't pull everyone over, so they have to slow you down some way. Yep, and as you found out, they want you to go 35, so they make the limit 25. In MN, we expect to get pulled over for going more than 5 over. So, those who do, just pay more to drive than those who don't in the form of $150+ tickets all the time.
Thank you. It looks amazing to me in Perth Australia. I use autopilot and love it. Yes it's got issues but I forgive her for being a 2015 model S 85d with computer 1. Autopilot is also changing as the newer models get updated ? Sometimes it's great a few weeks later it changes to better. Then back to worse, I can't see it's the weather or light issues. It feels like updates are changing it slightly?
Do you believe any version of FSD will ever satisfy you? I watch a lot of videos of drives and no one is more critical about the minutiae of the software choices than you.
Agreed. I watch a lot of videos and this is the most negative channel. I think it is helpful to be critical but this channel is expecting it to match exactly what the driver would do. When I take a taxi or Uber, they all drive different. As long as the car gets you from A to B safely and efficiently that is fine even if it doesn’t exactly match the way I would drive it. It is impossible for FSD to second guess each persons personal preferences.
yeh, after hearing the phrase ''everyone in my state drives at least 10mph over the speed limit'' for the 10th time i had to stop watching John's fsd videos....the pedestrians and cyclists must be traumatised
He is an extremely nervous person as you can tell by him never taking a breath. He also lacks any patience and wants to always drive fast. With his brain and mouth working ten to the dozen I would think he's a bit of a danger on the roads. He is pretty hyperactive and seems to want the car to be the same. Nevertheless, we love to watch his videos.
There's a lot of channels that praise from start to end. It too gets boring. And sometimes it seems like a cult where they have to say everything Tesla/Elon does is so perfect. Being critical is vital. Sort of like free speech. It is necessary to view things from all sides and aspects. That being said, imho, videos like this should be analyzed and edited down to the interesting parts, just like AIdrivr does it. How interesting is it to see the same mistakes over and over again, with the same commentary track?
At 3:00 when you hit the speed bumps two red leds on each side of the driver monitoring camera flash. I've yet to learn what they mean. No one mentions them.
Probably infrared lights to make the camera see better. Sunglasses might be more transparent to IR, making it possible to track eyes even when the driver is wearing them. The camera used to record this video is probably more sensitive to IR than the human eye. Drivers won’t notice it.
They are IR lights for the eye tracking. They come on in darker areas. They only show up on camera (and not all cameras, some have filters to remove IR)
Tesla currently uses he worst, stupidest, most incompetent navigation algorithm I have ever seen. It's the reason I have to drive when I want to use FSD, and it's the majority of why I have to disengage when I use FSD.
Here in the UK we don't have FSD but my Tesla's AP does the same slow-coach thing where I have to hit the accelerator to get up to 70MPH. I do want to know who is responsible for the insurance in an accident when using FSD ? is it you as the car owner or Tesla as the 'person' actually driving the vehicle ??.
@stevenbarrett7648 FSD supervised is entirely the driver's responsibility and insurance liability. FSD unsupervised will not be and when engaged the insurance will be Tesla's liability. However, if you intervene or disengage, even in an accident situation, it will instantly revert to your liability.
As a beginner, it's essential for you to have a mentor to keep you accountable. I suggest Miss Hattie Glover is extremely good on that. She is really good at what she does, Now I can pay so many bills because of her help.
Now that you don't actually drive your Tesla FSD does when an accident happens - will the insurance company pay any bills you are responsible for? and are you responsible for anything when you are a passenger and FSD is driving? will the other insurance company go after "deep pockets" elon for when FSD screws up? I bet elon hasn't spent a second thinking of this problem But will my insurance company cover my Tesla when I'm just the passenger? If I have an accident in a rental car my insurance company covers me but I'm driving the car I get the nagging feeling that when I agreed to the FSD terms I took on total responsibility for any accidents even when FSD is driving and I'm just a passenger oh well elon has more important things to do than worry about this...
You are responsible for your car and what FSD does until Tesla says otherwise. That's why it's called "supervised". Good that you know that after having agreed to the terms...
@@shannon6876 Except when I paid my $10,000 FSD did not have the title "Supervised" that was added later when elon realized he was responsible for accidents and the lawyers came up with the one word that would dump the liability back on the Tesla owner "Supervised"
It's a simple question of law. If you are in control of your vehicle then you are liable for any accidents and currently you are require dto be in control of your car and FSD is set up on that basis that you retain control and intervene as required. It is a driver assistance aid nothing more. ANy change in that will be a change in the law, i the UK and Europe the legislation is already in place and in that legislation it is clearly set out then when a vehicle is approved for autonomous driving on the public road by the uk authorities where liability for any accident will then pass to. Tesla and others were involved in the government consultations prior and over the last few years prior to the law coming into force this year.
As I see it when watching different FSD testers is that Tesla really must upgrade their Route planner. That will definitely make a huge difference in the fsd performance.
"everyone goes 10 over in Georgia". ... "I don't know why we have so many speed bumps".
More impatience from the Good Dr.
Thanks doc!
"It's gonna drop us in the cemetery."
Not what you want to hear when you're testing FSD.

As a faculty member you can get tickets at half price. You just have to get on a waitlist…

Great video!
The Route planner is still messed up.
Editing software: How much sharpening do you want?
John: yes
Some good scenarios here, thanks for the video

The guy doesn’t ever shut up. A steady stream of blabber.
Good vid
I am still waiting for the software. I have a 2019 model 3
If you're not disengaging when your supposed to you're basically patting FSD for driving like a teenager.

I think the car did the right thing at the yield sign or why would they bother to one there?

Am I wrong or isn’t Tesla building out even more training compute than what they currently have?
You’re not wrong.

Someone called FSD Student?
FSD is king
at 5:43 doing 12 over in a 35?😅
👍👍
Frank thoughts: If you could reduce your commentary by 60 or 70% that would be much easier on the ears. I'm getting a headache.
0:16 - you swapped digits in the version number
We occasionally see double blinking red lights from above the mirror. Are they visible to you?
I see that all the time on YT videos. Bunt no one mentions what they are.

Is this HW3? Anyone recall?
This is HW4. 12.5 has not gone out to any HW3 vehicles yet
