First off, I want to thank the person for putting out this video. No one should complain unless they are willing to do it themselves! Now, to help others with keeping it simple: I installed the factory auto dimmer/Homelink mirror [Part# DWF62 AU001] on a 2025 Sportage HEV. The black wire of harness (with ring crimp lug) is your negative. I cut ring off and "tinned" the end so that it could be shoved into rain sensor black pin (left most of the 3 wire connector), This isn't ideal, but is working for now. Then, the other black wire of harness was connected to the blue wire of the camera connector (right most pin in back row) to provide power to mirror (only when car was running}. I was reluctant to use included splice connector because sometimes it can cut the wire off that you are crimping, but it worked fine. The reverse clear (black w/white stripe wire) was not connected because I didn't care if mirror was dimmed while backing up ...I use cameras for visuals instead anyway. There was enough room to keep all of harness wire up inside, just in case I later might want the option to run it down to fuses but I'm sure this will be good. I'm not a mechanic, so this is just my way of getting results. Where there's a will there's a way!...and prayers are always helpful too!
Appreciate the detailed breakdown! Sounds like a good solution to me as well. You can tell I’m not a detail guy. But still loving this mirror after two years installed! 👍
Any tips on how to remove the primary cover? I got the middle piece out on my '23 SX Prestige but when I feel to the left on the top I can't seem to find the hooks. Thanks in advance!
not going to ask for a step by step video . But I would like to know what wires you tapped into to install this as you did not show this at all. By the title most people were expecting a step by step of how to install/ This video shows a half installed mirror with no helpful tips .
Yeah, could have done a better job. The two wires I tapped into were the two going into the rain sensor there. Check at the 25-28 second mark of video.
Is there any chance you can make a video with step by step. I couldn’t make out what you did? Is the rain sensor still plugged in and working? What happened to the rain sensor plug?
I'd prefer to not do it again... lol but my neighbor just purchased the same vehicle, so maybe I can do it for their car and do a better production! The Rain Sensor still works, and is still plugged in. I just tapped directly into the back of the rain sensor wires/plug.
@@REAPERBLANKS it’s all there… It’s honestly straight forward, read the other replies. Drop the mirror and tap into rain sensor… done. Not a lot to show unfortunately.
I bought a sportage hybrid, but your video doesn't show enough how to take out a dash mirror and install a new one. :( wish there is more detail in your video ..sob sob
At 24 seconds in.. you'll see a close up of the rain sensor clip. I just pushed the wires into that harness/clip... putting red to red, and black to black.
There unfortunately is not a 'factory' wiring harness for the 'homelink mirror', I tapped into the rain sensor harness, as the mirror just needs power from somewhere. I thought that was easier than running a wire down the A pillar to fuse box.
@@SCCAForums Ok thank you. I can't believe Kia didn't put a harness up there on their top of the line model. I have the same exact model. I'm going to have the dealer install it. I'm not comfortable messing with it but thanks for the info.
Wish you really had a good step by step video on this! Video began pretty much halfway and couldn't figure out the rest from all the cut offs and movement 🤦🏽♂️
Agreed, I may be doing another one for our neighbor who just got one. And will try to do a better job on steps. But it was really simple... remove the plastic 'cap' for mirror screw. Then remove the entire plastic bezel around top of windshield. Then push red/black wires into the rain sensor positive and negative... screw in new mirror and put plastic bezel and cap back on.
lol… it’s useful everyday I open and close my garage!! The info is there.. but you have to have some idea of what you’re working with. It is much easier once you take off the cover.

Thanks for the detailed response! Agreed, and mine still working flawlessly after 2+ years installed.
Any tips on how to remove the primary cover? I got the middle piece out on my '23 SX Prestige but when I feel to the left on the top I can't seem to find the hooks. Thanks in advance!
It’s been so long, I don’t recall. I just remember, I sorta “squeezed and pulled” the cover down away from windshield.
@@SCCAForums appreciate such a quick response! I'll give it a try tomorrow, cheers.

So basically you made a video that shows us nothing.. What a waste

You have a video step by step?
Great song playing in the background! Crazy Nights by Kiss.
Hello, sorry for the question. Could you tell me which connector is the white one? what is it for? thanks for answering!
Did you just jump the wires into the rain sensor?
Yes exactly 👍
@@SCCAForums ok thanks. I guess there's enough power for both systems... Cheers
How did you removed the cover panel? I'm scared i'm going to break something, planning to use the Dongar wirings,
That part wasn't as easy... I just 'pulled'... down and away from windshield, but wasn't simple.
Do you have a pic of how you ran your wires? I want to do this mod to mine.

You didn't explain anything how to install it
Where can I find the mirror ?
I got mine here: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CGSZRVC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Is the car wiring harness actually up there or did you have to run the wire down the A pillar to the fuse box?

@@bobmonzo3137 Yeah, it's much nicer once you have the garage remote built into the mirror. Definitely glad we did it.
Did you do this to your 2023 Sportage??

I did exactly this and I don’t recommend it. Wiring it to the rain sensor will give you constant power.
waist of 2:17 min
Lol... it's really that straight forward.
Nothing useful on installing
