    For this technique, should you only use your wrist or should you add your elbow at high speeds?

    • @Milehighshred
      @Milehighshred  Рік тому

      Let your elbow help out whenever it wants to. The faster I go, the more elbow movement happens.

      Mile High Shred - John, hope you are weathering the terrible air we’ve had! AQI was all over the place today... Just curious, is there one of these vids for the middle sixteenth on the beat? From rock to funk rhythm, seems widely applicable! Cheers, D

      @@rockstarjazzcat Yeah, the skies have been rather strange lately.
      I'm afraid I'll have to ask you to elaborate. When I read on the beat, I think down beat. And, middle 16th? With four 16 notes, I don't see a middle one. What's the specific grouping of notes? 8th, 16th, 8th?

      Mile High Shred , so gallop is “one, and uh two, and uh” and the reverse is “one ee and, two ee and,” so the third possible variation resulting in three 16ths is “one ee, uh two ee.” So either one-ee-and, and-uh-one, or uh-one-ee, where the “one" appears in the middle of the three played sixteenths. Said a different way, “1 +a,” for gallop, “1e+ ,” for reverse, and “1e a,” where straight sixteenths would be expressed “1e+a.” So, “1e a2e a3e a4e a1.” Would be a lot easier if UA-cam would just let me insert a picture! Any clearer? I suppose I’ve neglected the fourth variation, “e+a,” where there is no note played on the beat. Four notes per beat. Take four sixteenths, played repeatedly. Drop any single sixteenth...

      @@rockstarjazzcat Yeah, I got my rhythm mixed up. Should have said 16th, 8th, 16th. Duh... oh well. Whoops! Thank you for the clarification 🙂
      I don't think I've done a video on that one. Haven't been doing regular UA-cam vids in a while either. Only Patreon videos and working on my rhythm course.
      That IS a rhythm I teach my students though, right after doing gallop and reverse gallops. Almost everyone feels confused at first.

    can you do the chromatic gallop like that of holy wars by megadeth

      I was asking about if you can make the video of the chromatic gallop

    • @Milehighshred
      @Milehighshred  5 років тому

      It's going to be a long time before I start doing UA-cam videos again. I do lessons for Patreon suppporters each week though (just a dollar a month). This is your best bet for getting that video made soon.
      Until I'm done writing and putting together some very large instruction courses, UA-cam videos are on pause, and it may be another year or more.
