"Je suis malade" is a song by French singer and songwriter Serge Lama in 1973. It's a classic in France. There has been many covers, but Lara has one of the best.

This is one of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE songs!!! I've NEVER seen anyone put as much emotion into a song, as this woman right here. I can listen to it over and over and over!
What will absolutely blow your mind is that she sings this totally differently EACH time and EVERY one is a different & sincere masterpiece.
This jaw-dropping performance was my gateway drug to Fabian about 2 years ago, and my admiration for her has only grown deeper as I obsessively looked for into her work.
This was a cover that she pretty substantially tweeked to famously make her own. She calls herself a "songwriter with a voice" as she composes and writes most of her own material - in French, English, Spanish & Italian. Technical master with otherworldly emotive performance skills.

I've listened to this song at least 6 or 7 times today. And each time I'm brought to tears. Probably because I have a love for someone like that. And there are times that I feel certain lyrics more than other times. The pain is real in this song. And it's real in her delivery. Listen to her sing Je t'amie. You will love it. Guaranteed.

maybe Adagio by Lara is a new original version with english lyrics, but there are lots of other versions too, eg the original orchestral version from centuries ago, a version by Demis Roussos (i found that after her reaction to him a few day ago), and of course also the versions by Lara and by Dimash.
just like "love is like a dream", you can go down many rabbit holes when starting to look up songs of Lara, Dimash, and Igor, eg from this song there is the 25 year old original by Alla Pugacheva, a later version by Lara, and finally also Dimash, each of them having their own different styles.

Sony signed her for North America. Then wanted to control her career. She said Thanks, but no. They blocked her career from then on. Since she speaks at least 5 languages, she went to Europe, depriving us of her talents. Thank God for UA-cam.
I have to admit to being a big fan of French songs, especially ballads like this. How this singer isn't more well known in the UK I'll never know. Her voice is absolutely sublime.

I was listening to the original recording of this song (Serge Lama, who co-wrote it about his own experience with a woman he loved) on Montreal radio in 1974... and I first saw this video of Lara's performance when I was living on Haida Gwaii in 2001. I've been listening to her sing since the early 1990s, and in this performance she SLAYS this song. One of her best *ever*.

You're Not From Here fascinates me. It is freaking difficult, but she keeps it sounding deceptively easy-breezy. She's known for her cathedral-like powerful belts, of course (🤩), but she should get equal or more recognition for how rock solid she is singing pianissimo- which makes the drama of her belts pop even more. That final breath in You're Not From Here is INSANE for the amount of control it took to pull off just that way, like a feather floating back to earth.
i heard Adagio the first time sung by Dimash, then found that Lara had sung it 10-15 years earlier too, and finally (because of the reaction video a few days ago) i saw that also Demis Roussos did it. I find it quite interesting to watch all the different versions of the same song to compare what is different about them (but NOT to find a "best" one which is completely up to the listeners taste). maybe we could get some "multiple reactions" for several of these versions in one video (or posted on consecutive days) !?
this also applies to "Love is Like a Dream", original 25 years ago by Alla Pugacheva, later by Lara, and then Dimash, and all three can be found on YT with Igor at the piano !
and of course, you shouldn't miss "Ti amo cosi" which is a real duet of Lara and Dimash (and Aida), also with Igor at the piano.
