Congrats Captain!!! I have the 8616 Garmin now coming from Simrad on my previous boat. Still learning how to use it and also getting use to their new radar open array. You seem happy with your new toys!

Amen captain to what you said about really knowing your boat, I build all my boats and equipment front to back, so yes I understand the idea of hopefully being able to troubleshoot and possibly repair something on the water, which I have many times already thankfully

Congrats on the upgrades captain. My recommendation is to sit a GMDSS radio course. I would also highly recommend the icom IC M94D hand held radio. Amazing kit. All the best best skipper.

I’m absolutely jealous!! My new boat will be ready sometime in June and I was going to get that exact set up for an auto pilot. Unfortunately costs got more than I budgeted so I had to put off on the auto pilot. I can’t wait to see this set up on your boat and operation of this. Also hope to see you install because when I do pull the trigger on this I will install myself. Thanks for great videos and look forward to your next addition

Hello Capt! I just subscribed to the channel. I also just purchased a Garmin autopilot for my boat. It’s a GHC 50 screen and a SmartPumpV2. I was wondering if you could please share the info on the hoses that you purchased. Thank you for your videos, they make life that much easier!

I was wondering when are you going to try and make the trip to the Dry Tortugas? I know you might need to take more gas, but I think it would be a good trip since going to the Bahama is a pain right now.
Yes I am trying to make some plans for the future I need to get probably a gasoline bladder so I need to do a research on the address card and take some time to do the research but soon cap thanks
That’s awesome cap, hopefully you have better experience with customer service if you have to call about the auto pilot.
Yes I hope so because usually you do have some problems with this unit sometimes But I have worked with garmin before and they're really good on the customer service
Jus did something similar to my boat… peace of mind using the auto guidance.., i suggest you to get the remote control, totally worth it and not expensive at all

Good morning. I have a key west 239fs with a 250 sho. It has sea star steering with power assist. Can I run this same set up?
Not sure cap. Your best bet will be calling Garmin and they have specialist that can get good answers for you and i dont think that would be a problem😉👍🛥

hello, i am interested in a raymarine autopilot, i have a simrad unit i was told you can buy a $35 cable to connect your raymarine unit to nmea2000 , what issues did you have with the pu,p size? what would happen with the smaller pump?
well cap. i was undersized the pump recommended for my boat was the EV150 my ev100 sometimes would lose course

You've got a lot of travelling ahead of you if you are going to get full use of the new charts. I have been happy with the Garmin autopilot system I have on my boat and I think you will be also. Your setup looks like it will be easily accessible which is a plus. In the event of a lightning storm, I now disconnect my autopilot components completely(and stow the removable ones in a special faraday box). It only took two replacements to teach me this. Electo-static energy likes network lines and will pass into and thru them easily and take out anything connected to them. Both times the boat was just near a strike and not hit directly but it still wiped out all the electronics that were hooked together by the NMEA 2000 network.
I am looking forward to seeing the new system in use on some fun adventures.
Sorry to hear that Tim that must have been very expensive replacement and replacement and thank you for letting me know that's really important for me to disattach and somehow when not in use because if a lightning hits like you say it will really do some damage damage to our pockets.

You can buy a vhf radio with gps in it and no need to connect it to the gps.
The cable is much cheaper then buying a new vhf radio cap. This one came from factory without it
Great video! Wish minnkota and hummingbird would have auto guidance. The contour lines for my auto pilot, jogging, record track all work well but it won’t navigate around obsticals. one thing I would remember is with your height clearance of 10 foot, make sure to pull down your rods when you go under the bridges or add that additional height when you program your garmin

Wanted to install that system on my 2530 two years ago. Dealer wanted $7,000.00 to install same system. Pricey and I passed on it. I am not as handy as you are for diy.
I'm going to make videos to show you how I install it and then you can see for yourself if you can do it captain And wow $7000 is a lot of money

In old captain, I found it very expensive but is very needed. Because if you have an emergency, the autopilot pump will be fighting against you. But I know big option very expensive But is safety👍
