    Awesome job as usual. These video’s are so valuable to anyone who owns a boat and wants to take on a project themself. What you have accomplished with that “crooked Pilothouse” is nothing short of amazing. If you had to contract out all of your build outs, modifications and service it would easily have cost you $50,000. You are an amazing technician and a great guy!

    Watching your installations is like watching a “long lost art form”. This was the way my father taught me how to do a job too. Nothing like the shoddy workmanship that many of todays marina’s and boat dealers turn out because they need to speed up the jobs and cut corners to make their work more profitable. This is why I prefer to do my installations myself as you do. The proof of shoddy manufacturing workmanship is why your boat had to be unfortunately named “The Crooked Pilothouse”. . . . I’m sure you would have preferred something like “The Foxy One”😜

    • @OutOnTheReef
      @OutOnTheReef  2 роки тому

      You are so Right cap. Thats why It's better for us to do our own work because we take pride on it and you're right they have to speed up the process to make more profits and the consumer loses quality on the way and you, And yes I love that name if my boat was not crooked I will call it foxy one lol😉😁👍👍

    Nice job Capt! You made the bleed-out seem easy! I have a bleed-kit that uses a different procedure and uses less fluid; that SeaStar fluid is 'pricey'.... The SeaStar manual lists 7-8 other brands of fluids that will work (mostly aviation fluids), but none of those are available anywhere near where I live.

    • @OutOnTheReef
      @OutOnTheReef  2 роки тому

      Thank you Andrew and yes they're very pricey usually about $25 a quart And it's good to do this at least every 6 to 8 years to have new power steering fluid it really helps the system perform better, Mine was a little discolorated after 3 years but since I have a new pump I wanted to have everything new so I don't have to worry about it for another 8 years And thanks for watching captain have a awesome night

    Very thorough and well explained, thank you. Curious as to why you went with Garmin over the Raymarine Ev-100. Were you having problems with the EV-100 handling your size boat out in the ocean with its type.5 pump? Would the EV-150 with the type 1 pump have initially been a better choice? Although a matter of opinion, its appears the Raymarine looks to be the easier install for the challenged do it your-selfer.

    • @OutOnTheReef
      @OutOnTheReef  2 роки тому +1

      The rain marine is easier and the . 5 Pump is not enough power The best thing is to get the1.0 liter But I find out that the garment is more quieter and better performance But I find out that the garmin is more quieter and better performance

    • @OutOnTheReef

      What I know is that you have to install it at the main helm the lower helm not in the upper one but to double check that call garmin but I'm almost 95% sure is the lower helm that way the shadow drive can operate properly cap.

I'm going to attach this fitting here, etc.etc. You didn't go in depth telling what was what and lost me. I was going to try do do mine myself, but couldnt keep up with what you were hooking up. I dont get something, Im going to install my Reactor 40 with a Smart Pump... shouldn't be much different regarding the hydraulic hookups... I thought that since I have 2 Seastar hoses coming from the stern to the back of the helm, (I currently have no auto pilot)... if I understand the diagram from Garmin, the port and stern lines coming from the steering ram both have T fittings (as well as shut off valves, buts that's another story); your hookup looks like you used only one T , and hooked one side into the pump... Im confused... I will watch your videos again, but am I missing something ? Look at pg 5 of this Garmin installation manual.

      So wheres the 2nd T ? ...Still dont understand, the diagram from Garmin shows that the lines coming each from Port and Starboard from cylinder need to have a T to split them to helm, and to the pump, why does that work on yours ? Look at the diagram I attached the link in my comment above. Btw, great job on your videos, thanks.
