  • In this episode, we present a live case demonstration. We unpack what is happening in Male Pattern Hair Loss and show dermatoscopic examples of what this looks like. We also talk about progression and possible management plans.
On a personal note, one of the things that I am most proud of on this channel is how gracious and respectful people are. Please remember that this is an actual patient who is a viewer of this channel. He was gracious enough to come to the clinic to demonstrate to everyone what is happening with his hair. Please understand this and be respectful in any commentary that you have.
    Best Wishes!

Although I have watched so many videos posted by different people on UA-cam about HAIR LOSS, this channel "The Hair Loss Show" is an incredible channel and directs people on the right path. No doubt hair loss is really stressful, but the doctors' conversations in this channel will definitely help relieve the stress of those who experience hair loss.

when you stated you can't grow hairs in bald area next to your hairline - how come I have seen responders gain hair in front of the hairline? Maybe pushed forward a bit with hair, but not completely covering the bald spot. is it because the follicles closest to the hairs are still active and the further out you get are no longer active?

I am willing to go to your clinic and become a "live patient demo" because I have photos of my hair journey which shows how eradicate it has been. 10 years ago I visited Ashley Martin because of the intense shedding due to work and life stress and they put me on Finestride and I noticed my hair appeared darker after a few months. I am confused about if I have the MPB issue or just age as I am 49. I would be a good candidate as I am almost militant with these types of things, especially Minoxidil. I will not ask for any discounts, might just take me a week or two to arrange a trip to Sydney with family etc.

He will definitely need more than 1500 grafts if he expects to see decent results.
I had around 1700 graft FUT procedure at the knudsen clinic years ago, and the results were less than I expected.
Also, the scar on the donar area stretched quite a bit and became wide, to the point where I had to come back and have it cut out.
    I would not recommend FUT.

@@tagada7 I think you are significantly underestimating the scale of recession in this case. The severe thinning of the mid scalp and crown (disguised by his long hair pulled back) are not congruent with a Norwood scale 3, he is a definite 4 well on his way to 5 in a couple years if not treated. Obviously he needs a year on 5AR and minox to assess his regrowth and stabilisation before a transplant, but I concur with Dr. Vikram that FUT is much more suitable in this case.

Hello @@tagada7, thank you for your reply on this subject. I will certainty check on CB0301. Hearing this, I might not want to pursue RU58841 if this is the case. However, what about Alfatrodial? I heard it was approved in Germany for treating both male and female hairloss. Understood that these anti-androgens would not stimulate new hair growth but what if I mixed Alfatrodial with Stemoxydine (a chemical that stimulate hair growth I presume)? I saw a guy on youtube who does this as his routine to fight hairloss >>> ua-cam.com/video/7-PDvDxl-kg/v-deo.html . The reason why I'm going for topical anti-androgen on top of my finasteride and minoxidil usage is because topical androgen blocks testosterone on top of DHT. Plus, I heard in some cases, Dutasteride might cause the problem worse for some men since it will cause a raise in testosterone. What is your thought? Thank you.

Hi @@tagada7 . Good to hear your reply again. You mentioned that the hairloss progression at a slow rate in individuals treated with oral finasteride is rather likely to be caused by the expression of the 5AR type 1 isoenzyme since finasteride only inhibits Type 2 and 3-5AR. My question: Should I add a pill of 0.5mg dutasteride a day in a week while taking 1mg of oral finasteride for the remaining days? My goal is to prevent any further miniaturization or progression of hairloss in the long run. I'm currently on oral finasteride and topical minoxidil. Thanks.

Hello Jayaprakash, I just turned 21 and some months ago i noticed that I am losing my hair.
My doctor prescribed me with 1/4 proscar (1.25 finasteride) every other day, however I am afraid that, that might be too small dose for me since I am 21 and that is relatively young age to lose hair. So I have a few questions to ease my mind.
1.Did you ever had patient that is 21 and didn't responded well to the 3 mg/week of finasteride ?
    2. is 0.625 of finasteride daily as effective as 1.25 finasteride every other day? - I am asking this question because I can easily cut 1/4 of pill so I can get 1/8 (0.625 of finasteride).
3.Does simply taking 1 mg per day, increases your chance of getting gynecomastia, significantly more that using it 3 mg/week?
    Thank you!
