Aerial view of the burned houses and structures across Fritch, TX from The Windy Duece Fire. 100+ homes burned from this fire from Fritch to Borger Tx.
Nothing is burnt but the houses. Where did the wildfire come through at?

Wow, so many homes total ash, no washers, no dryers, hot water heaters, car frames and engines, a fire so hot that even metal objects are turned to ash. Yet so many trees and even grass managed to make it through unscathed. Incredible.

When you rebuild, a minimum of a 9/12 pitched roof, metal. Where I live the houses are built this way since 1871, the Peshtigo Fire. Before that, they were wood. Wind driven fire puts embers on the roof where they burn. You need the steep pitch so they roll off the roof. Houses were also sided in slate siding instead of wood. Rain barrels were kept at the corners and sometimes up on the roof so they could be tipped to put out any fire that approached. 1,500 people died in the Peshtigo fire. We do not have the same conditions now that they had, but, we still have many of the original tin roofs. My home is a tin roof and steel siding. It will only burn if the fire starts within the interior.

As someone who grew up around here, the idea that the government would target Fritch as part of some conspiracy is HILARIOUS.
This was an awful day and the worst-case scenario for the high plains. Anyone who has lived there knows. These psychos who are commenting this nonsense have no idea.

Notice how the destruction is mainly to the houses and skips most of the surrounding land. Seems kind of sketchy that the fire would jump the land and just burn up the houses. Its almost like the housed were somehow targeted.

I'm a veteran Australian bush fire-fighter, we too are fighting fires just like this there mostly natural & occasionally arson ... nothing sinister

Are we really still doing this now, esp when it's a terrible drought? It just takes 1 idiot in these conditions with winds in a rural area where fire equip is slow, to have a huge problem. Massive fires in TX in the winter, along with destructive tornadoes in Chicago, it's a good thing climate change isn't real or we'd be in a mess. Good luck getting affordable property insurance in FL, TX and now beyond. The insurance companies believe in science and you will too when you're like FL, can't get insurance or it's went up 2 or 3x. Reminds me of paradise city, ca. How is it a wildfire burns only some structures to ground and building next to it unscathed? Think 15 minute cities..that's their goal. Trees may APPEAR untouched but a closer look would show them to be scorched or blackened. Trees are naturally resistant to fire because of the moisture in the leaves branches and trunk. Pine trees are especially resistant fire and in fact many species require fire to open up the pine cones for the seeds to be released.
Houses by contrast are often composed of many flammable substances. In addition embers can find entry into homes through vents or open windows.

Sorry to say but many homes could have been spared with good landscaping and construction management. Traditional landscaping creates a fire hazard allowing embers to travel through vents into attics.
