Subbed a while ago. I didn’t even own a 4Runner. I just liked your videos. I just purchased my wife a 2024 premium’s 4wd in the underground color. 3rd row, softex seating, heated seats and moonroof. I almost want to trade my 21 tundra CrewMax 4x4 for one lol.
So she doesn’t want to lift it. It’s pretty much a mall crawler lol. Except we go to the snow, camping and fishing alot. With stock height she’s looking at some AT tires. She had the Ko2 on her 2020 RAV4 and. What’s the biggest she can go with no rub? Non TRD. Ko2 Woldpeak at3 Toyo open country “”” She’s getting those same bronze heritage wheels.
Much appreciated for your support!! Get 285’s and do this bumper chop and you will be golden. Keep in mind that even in the stock form these 4Runners are very capable. 💪🏻
Love the channel. I bought my '23 TRD Pro new from the dealer last Feb. Just went outside and checked both sides in the front and those pieces are not there.
awesome video! it's a great lesson for people who are doing a viper cut. the plier method is really good and overlapping cuts like in the TSB help to make it clean!
When I put my 285’s on (they were also on wheels with a negative offset. May not be bad on OEM positive offset) I had to cut not only a large part from the front, but also a BMC and large amounts from the rear of the wheel well as well. Oh- and had to remove the front Mudflaps. It was a HUGE cut job. But…. It’s done. No regrets and it’s much better.
Good stuff. My 21’ TRD ORP came with the XP Predator Pkg, a southeast port package, with TRD Pro wheels and 265/70R17 Nitto ridge grapplers. I’m wondering if the first owner had this done already as my tires don’t rub, that I’ve noticed. I’ll be checking mine in the morning for sure lol appreciate the content! PS Put my beautiful Vikings garage patch on the rear of my back seat where I put all my patches, so the jealous drivers behind me can read them all when my rear window is down lol God bless~ Chandler~
Working hard here to get my silver 2018 TRD ORP to "PRO Spec"! Thanks for all the insightful videos! One thing I would love to do is match the black overlays on the back (Logo and 4RUNNER) to the letters on the front pro grille. I did get the OEM garnish. Those TOYOTA letters look different w every change of the light, any insights??? I'm looking towards 1H1 (Predawn Gray), 1E9 (Galactic Gray Mica) or maybe MGM 1G3 is closer?
I would think this would also apply to TRD Offroad's with the TRD wheel/tire package? Yea this looks easy enough, just take it slow so no oops. Great video!
I have a 23 SR5 Premium with Matt black TRD pro newer style rim/concave design . Just swapped the stock Bridgestone dueler on that rim. No aggressive threads. Haven't noticed any rubbing. Maybe this only happens with tires with aggressive treads. Can you chime in. Thanks for the heads up!
Thanks Bro. I already checked it today after watching your video. At full lock up my gap is like after your trimming. Not even close to rubbing. Also I try not to fully lock up my wheels as I was told by a experienced mechanic that it's not good for your power steering pump. Thank you!
If by “aggressive” you mean larger, I don’t have the same problem but it’s similar. I bought an imported right/ left converted Suzuki mini truck. 4 x 4 meant to look off road. Tires wore really fast snd after the second set ( now street style) and fixing loose steering, it rubs near the same place as yours but was stock tire size. I believe I can fix it with taller shocks but I’m not familiar with how to determine a taller size. How are they speced? Will a 2 inch longer shock affect wheel alignment? Thanks in advance. BTW. I live in Philippines and parts stores will sell you anything, reliable mechanics are rare.
Can you tell when you get a 4Runner in for repair, people who take really good care of their car? Like I detail my engine once a month and I wonder if I ever took it in if the mechanic would notice
On your red 4runner you swapped the mirrors with heated Rav4 Canadian mirrors with a convex section of mirror. Is there a version of this for the 2020+ with BMS? Will you be adding it to the new 4Runner?
I need to do this. When backing out of my driveway if my wheel is fully turned or close to it it will always rub. Sometimes it happens in drive while at full turn but not nearly as often. Definitely happens every time I bust a U'ee though and it's annoying AF.
Viking and Company, I could use some real world 4runner advice. My fam is considering nabbing one of these final 5th gens. Narrowed it down to the Offroad Premium, Offroad Premium with KDSS, or the TRDPro. Resale value is meaningful, though we do keep vehicles for the long term. Mostly on-road and light trail performance prioritized. No major offroading or modification intended at this time (perhaps mods in future), but we like to have serious get-out-of-a-jam capability just in case. How would you rate these three options?
I just bought a 2024 TRD pro and mine never rubbed not even offroading once fast forward I'm now on OME BP51's with 285/70R17's with the stock TRD wheels and still don't rub? 🤷♂️
They modify the new ones at the port. Severe articulation will cause some rub, but mud flap removal and some fender liner mod should work. I have the same truck, and did some minor mods to a 2020 orp to accommodate 285’s. 🤪
@@VikingsGarageJust did this today and the outlines aren’t super necessary. It’s an easy job and now there is zero rubbing! Thank you so much for this video!
I had the same - rubbing when backing up out of the driveway and turning sharply. Similar solution. '17 4R on Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S: 265/70R17. Bilstein 5100s with about 2" lift.
Thank you. I discovered that cut in my Pro, and many people didn't know about it.
You got it!!

I dint think she’d let me 😂. Is 275/70r17 ko2 good to go 🛞? With no mods no lift?
@hvega8199 They were my 2nd choice, install and enjoy.
Thank you for sharing this!
That rubbing noise was driving me crazy.

You know what that means, it’s had the fix performed then.😉

Absolutely!!
Full cuts could cause the paint to crack.
I appreciate your support!! 🤘🏻
I have 33s on mine without lift. Had a wheel alignment to adjust caster. Did the same trim you did
Very cool!!

I'm installing 285/70's tomorrow when my rims arrive and this definitely will help on my TRD ORP. Thanks.

Very good job. I added 275 70 17s with wheels zero offset. Very minimal trimming and used a heatgun to push the linner slightly back.

Which side of the Irwin pliers is the "red" side? And why does it matter which side is on the bumper painted side?
I wish I had seen this 6 years earlier! 👍🏼

It is only on certain type of tire tread + only will do it in reverse at full tilt.

I can totally tell. Every time!!
It’s actually very rewarding to see every now and then that one person that takes pride in their vehicle.
Thank you sir!!! Do you think 285 70 17 or 255 80 17 would fit without a lift?
Definitely 285, although I would recommend a 1 inch lift with it.
not sure on the other size.
Where did you get the stencils for the trimming?
I’ll m a Toyota Master Technician, they are part of a Special Service Bulletin.
Not available to the public.

so I think this was fixed from the 2020 models to present in production?
Negative, the Lime Rush one you see in the video is a 2022. I had to perform the fix, it was rubbing. 😉

I personally would stay away from KDSS.
