People like to really come down hard on those who, either in a serious shift of purpose, or simply to experiment a little, deliver something a little different than that for which they are typically known. It guess in this foray, 'Ol Joe was well aware that the New Wave/Pop camp would go "What???", the classical purists would opine, "Are you serious (Oh, my god - you ARE!)?, the jazz aficionados would say, "Oh, please...really?", and the fusions types would say, "Nice try." If you're not familiar with Joe's earlier (1987) "Will Power", check it out. Has more of a 'classical' lean (ie: elements of 2oth century Modernism). This work may not have met the expectations of many (whatever the hell those expectations were) but we need to pay more honour to those who try to play with form, flavour, and sensibility instead of just staying comfortable. There is a lot of comfort in the popular arts right now and less and less risk taking. Go, go, Joe.
Thank you. Do you know other contemporaries that are/have composed..... joke, I'm on 50. Bought album. Why do classical music stations acknowledge "new and contemporary". Please explain what I'm missing. Its not a lost art. Ok to hear this in my 90's. Thank you.
I am sorry... I mispelled. Why do classical stations disregard my "old timer" new? Such a wealth of a new playlist to listen to other than George Williams fund raiser and baroque. ( sorry, that so hurts my ears). Why cant stations play new music that exposes me, a sorta new one, to more thinking music? Good God.... repeat.
Any current comments guys? I'm ready to take up HUGE discussion with KUSC. Please respond. And yes, I know all about JJ. It's about why cant new "classical" be included. And I guess I'm old... I put my notification on if any of you respond.
Percussion is great-keyboards are great too much time in sax land when you have an entire orchestra. Great sounds and chords-I need it to develop faster to hold my attention for a symphony though
Such talent... I have always loved his music....
No hate. Thanks for the upload. I sometimes listen to music on youtube to help me decide wether I should buy it. I will definitely buy this one!

Well said. I agree. Joe is very talented it should be expected that he will not want to stay in one place musically.

Canterbury music
I agree. I've heard that Joe is a fan of Soft Machine, though I'm hearing a lot of Hatfield and National Health inspiration.
