OMG thank you! We just received a lucky shamrock as a gift for St. Patrick's Day! But my mom and I have no idea how to care for it! Thanks for the info! ❤
Hello Michael and thank you so much for sharing!! I had to cut back my Mom's Oxalis and replace the soil because of overwatering and legginess!! To my surprise it grew back new leaves, but I have about 20 single leaf cuttings in water!! Don't know if they'll root but it's such a BEAUTIFUL plant!!💜
Thank you for sharing! My mother in law gave me a shamrock in March, and she is being growing and glowing, I fell in love with this plant and want to propagate it now. What kind of light should the babies get when in water?
I am so glad your Shamrock is happy! I would give her med-high light, 800 fc ( = a brightly lit room or at about 6' from a window, but no direct sunlight). I hope your propagation is a super success! Funny note- I am currently propagating my purple shamrock (...again, I just love shamrocks) so, we both have new shamrocks soon! 😀🪴
I have 3 of the purple and darker purple oxalis sort of two tone on the leaves . I always thought they looked like butterflies. I just cut the stem around three quarters of the way down and stick them in a cup with water like you would a cut flower. After a couple of months they root! No need of the end or the rhizome. I accidentally broke a stem and it was pretty so I put it in water and it rooted, I couldn't believe it so I tried again and again and that is why I have three plants now.😂
Hi, yes you can, but the Iron Cross can be a bit finicky and temperamental. Mine have sometimes slumped over for no reason and they tend to be slower growers... but the Iron cross shamrock is sooo beautiful! I hope you enjoy yours !😀🪴
@@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN thanks very much. I love the way the “bulbs’ have grown along with the lovely pink flowers but it is a bit leggy so I wasn’t sure if I was doing something wrong 🙃
Hi there! To convert the ratios into ounces let’s use 1 gallon ( 128 ounces) as our base volume. So to create a 1 gallon of soil mix you will need approx 102 oz of potting (80%) and 19 oz of perlite (15%) and 7 oz of worm castings (5%). If you want a smaller volume of soil mix, lets say for 1/2 gallon (64 oz) pot, you would need approx 51 oz of potting, 9.5 oz of perlite and 3.5 oz of worm castings. Hope this helps 😀🪴
Its so refreshing to see someone else get excited about a plant get new sprouts 😆
I am glad you enjoyed the video! It's so awesome to see nature in action! 😀🪴

Thanks for sharing ❤️🪴❤️

That's awesome! I don't have any luck when i try propagation that way! Wonderful! 😀🪴
Can you grow these in water, like Hydroponics?
Hi there. I have only grown in water to propagate. I am not sure how well they would do, but you could try! And please let me know if it works! 😀🪴
Can you treat an Iron Cross Shamrock the same as you do a Lucky Shamrock? Thanks🥰

Have you tried rooting powder?
Hi! I have not with the Shamrock, but with other house plants yes. 😀🪴
How do I translate: 80% potting, 15% perlite+ 5% worm cast into ozs so I can propogate a very large lucky shamrock into smaller containers?

If I use Irish Whiskey instead of isopropyl alcohol to cleanse my hands, will my shamrocks do better? haha, kidding!
Hahaha. And to that, I say Cheers!😀🪴
