Thank you for adding Celsius as well as Fahrenheit. It actually means a lot that you took the time to look it up even if it isn't the measurement you normally use. I don't remember the last time I saw someone do that so thank you so much!

You are very welcome, sweetie! I love all of ya all over the world (we Americans are the oddballs using fahrenheit for some reason lol) and my tutorials are meant to make your lives easier so any little bit I can do to help, I am happy to do it! Thanks for your sweet comment! x

Thank you Miss Poletti for teaching me about wigs. I am losing my hair and with your videos have found a way to have fun with having to wear wigs. By taking the mystery out of the process, you have made it easy to care for my growing collection with confidence. I now have four wigs and can feel normal! You are an inspiration and a great teacher. Keep it up!

You can use a straightener on the lowest setting to straighten out the frizz or soak the wig in diluted fabric softener for about 4 hours and comb it out while it's still damp~ Fabric softener does wonders for my wigs!

you know what i like about alexa's tutorials? she always keeps everything so minimalist for those who might not be able to afford all the supplies she uses. she'll always say, "...this is optional" or "but you don't need to use this" and i think that really helps and caters to those who might not have all these materials. you go, alexa! just subscribed;)

I got excited about the thought of wigs and I ordered my first black wig. My main reason was because I did not want to dye my hair black but I love how I look with black hair. So voila!! A wig solved all of my problems. Then I thought- oh my gosh, I could get so many wigs and have so many different styles! I got SO excited at the thought. This wig series has me absolutely LIT 🔥 on the idea of wigs and I am so excited I can’t even stand it!!! Thank you for this

For shine spray your wig with water and laundry detergent mixed and leave to dry overnight then rub in some baby powder it really reduces the shine but makes the wig very slightly (a tiny bit) lighter

This was such a great vid Alexa! With wigs that aren't heat resistant (and also super super shiny) it totally helps with styling to give the wigs a fabric softener soak, so then you can use the hairspray without as much/any water since there is some leftover fabric softener to give texture to the wigs and it also takes down the shine. Baby powder used on the dried wig after the fabric softener can totally help too.
(Shoutout to Community theatre and shitty wigs for learning how to make something from nothing! WOO!)

    Hi there,
First I just want to say I'm just starting to wear wigs, for various medical reasons, and your videos have been so helpful! I was wondering if you could do a video on how to cut a wig? preferably into a short haircut. I recently bought a little-longer-than-shoulder-length wig and the style is pretty blegh. Its too blocky but I'm not exactly sure how I should cut it to make it look better.
Any kind of wig cutting tutorial would be great though.

Do you have any advice for how to wear a wig when you have short hair? Because I used to have slightly longer hair but I cut most of it off and ever since I did that, anytime I try to wear a wig, regardless of how many wig caps I put on or what kind I put on, the wig will not stay. I've even tried using bobby pins to keep the wig caps on so they don't slide off but it doesn't work. >.<
Like the wig stays on for maybe a minute until I can literally feel the wig cap slipping off my hair which causes the wig to get unsecure.
(Also if you need a reference for my hair length think "Michael Clifford mixed with 2013 Dan Howell")

    • @Str4wberrybunni
      @Str4wberrybunni 7 років тому +7

Luke ok A trick that drag queens use is to wrap an ace bandage(?) around the crown of the head and clip the wig to that. :) Its more sturdy, since a wig cap, at least from my experience, works best with longer hair because it has something to grip to. Or! If you're using a solid wig cap (the one that looks like it's off of a pair of tights-- I don't know the name,) try using a mesh cap. You can clip more bobby pins.

Can you do a video in this series on specialty wigs? Like ponytail wigs, etc.?

    I have some questions:
    1) if you curl your wig without hairspray, does your curls still stay?
    2) when you have curled your wig, can you make it straight again?
Please answer if you see this :)
