@@kaefalcon5142 buying a new wig is better! After this DIY the color keeps staining my hands. I am afraid to stain my clothes, so I don't wear it. Actually, I'm thinking over throwing it away, because the hair color doesn't suit my complection, and it seems like it is impossible to dye it properly, so it won't stain everything. I 've already spent $13 US for the markers and the alcohol (in my country it is hard to find the acrylic ink). This is a great system for dying wigs! I'll definitely have to try it at some point. Wigs can also be dyed with RIT Dymore (which was just coming out when this tutorial was made) and other dyes specifically for synthetics. Of course, you have to boil the wig on the stove which results in the wig needing some TLC after - and you definitely want to watch your temperatures, although from what I can tell most wigs are pretty heat resistant. On the other hand, I tie-dyed a wig the other day a an experiment and it was kiiiiiiiiiiiinda wicked amounts of fun.

Quick question: I know you said you can make the roots as long as you want. Would it be possible to dye the majority of a wig (from it's roots, and he wig is probably as long as the one used in the tutorial) using the sharpie method, to give it a sorta ombre effect?
Thanks for the super detail and GOOD QUALITY VIDEO! omg. I dyed a wig once orange and yellow and didn't really know what I was doing. I used that acrylic ink and it all turned out okay, but it took DAYS to dry. I LOVE the rooting idea - I will absolutely start doing that. I might even do that for parts of my Merida wig I'm working on just to give it more depth. This thing is crazy big, but it's also mostly one color and I'd like to give it just a little more character.
New subscriber! Your explanation is so clear and you're super adorable and bubbly! I'm wondering if a 1" flat paint brush would be useful and a little quicker for rooting than that tiny q-tip?

라우 exotic butter Sew a few of the wefts together in the back top part of the crown all the way around to the side hairlines. Put it on, determine how many you need to sew together. You can do one at a time and keep checking it for most customized fit. Also, if you're like me, and your hair is thin, what I do to keep it secure is place a cornrow on the left and right sides of my hair and pull the wig over them, it holds the wig in place, even without combs (better with combs). You can also sew combs on where you want them.
yay! thank you so much for posting this! human hair wigs are so expensive to buy if u wanna dye ur own wig, im in the process of losing my hair and this has seriously helped where wigs are concerned!!! xxx
I was just referring back to this and wondered if anyone has tried this without diluting the ink if you want the colour super intense? Does it still work or do you need the alcohol?
It's in the description box because I forgot to mention it! I wouldn't recommend it because the colors will fade with each wash. But you can always touch up the colors again after if it desperately needs a wash. XD
Kitty on a Tree Yes, you can use other permanent markers. I used three from a pack of cheap markers for kids. I'm from Sweden and we have sharpies, but only avalible at Panduro (craft store). Have you asked in a bookstore/craftstore if they can order in sharpies (or ink) for you?
sharpies are just alcohol based markers so i believe any alcohol based markers would work. ive used cheap versions rather that buying sharpies for other art projects for the ink and theyve worked the same in all those situations. Although i have never tried this before.
ROOTING....Girl THANK YOUUUUUUU I have black hair & ordered a lighter brown lace front YEP what was I thinking SMH....So now I can Sharpe the roots & WEAR IT YAYYYYY 😍😍😍😍😍
I have a lace front that I ordered from Rockstar. It is the lace front Venus teal. I'm having problems getting it to fit right. The side pieces that should be in front of my ears actually land on top of my ears, close to being behind them, when I put it on. How do I fix this and how can I wear this wig without glue or tape?
Hmm, can you pull the cap forward more so they are in front of your ears? Or bend them forward and glue them so they stay in front? If not, no biggie! I have never worn the Venus wig, but the side burns on the premium wigs don't fit me quite right either (too big, come down almost to my chin!) so I usually just cut them off anyway. I don't usually glue or tape my lace fronts either.. I just clip them on and bobby pin where ever feels like it needs extra security. Here is a vid about how I wear lace fronts & trimming them and all that stuff!: ua-cam.com/video/GW2a4LV172o/v-deo.html Hope this helps! x
Did it with the Sharpie method, as none of the shops from where I live have alcohol based ink, and turned out great. From very dark blonde, almost brown to a gray and dark blue gradient. Thank you so much!
You are SUPER talented with this - have you considered creating a collection and selling them? Your wig color creation was like a gorgeous watercolor. LOVED it!
This is a REALLY good video! I'm always in a hurry to check on what materials to use, what is THE BEST, PERIOD. Tell me WHAT to buy, HOW to do it, WHAT works and what DOESN'T, don't YAK too much about unrelated stuff, and get to the point! I clicked HERE because I need to "DYE A SYNTHETIC HAIR WIG". (quickly!!) I don't need a history lesson on "wigs" (or "Whigs" for THAT matter!) and at first I wondered how this girl could use up eleven minutes telling me what to use to dye synthetic hair. Every minute of this video is PACKED with important, useful and interesting information if you want to successfully dye a synthetic hair wig! This video is PERFECTLY MADE!! This creator is glib, succinct, articulate, entertaining, intelligent, and, I'm gonna guess: Dead on ACCURATE and RIGHT!! I can't wait to dye the synthetic "blonde" hair wig I bought ( to purple) and trim it into a Mohawk for my Halloween costume (a Titan from Destiny) I'll have a helmet on most of the time, so my Mohawk haircut and Skull face War Paint won't show often, but, when it does, I'm fairly optimistic that the effect will look pretty cool, thanks to this PERFECT tutorial! I wish I could subscribe for more but ...I doubt I'll be doing a lot of work with WIGS in the future, BUT IF I DO, I'll BE BACK!!

Can you still heat style it after applying ink? Will it be toxic to do so?
I'm going to start on during my first wig and I love how comprehensive your tutorial is. Thank you! ❤
is it okay to dye it again. like if it didn't get as dark as you wanted, can you go over it again with more dye?
Lizy D. Yes you can, I've heard of people redying their synthetic wigs after a while to get more color or touch up faded colors.
I love this video. I recently used the sharpie method to dye some yarn(since I had no other dye) and it worked like a dream so when I came across this video I was so excited to realize this method works on synthetic hair also. I have several synthetic wigs that I will possibly try this method on.
*never wears wigs but still watches these videos just because Alexa is cute*😂😂😂
Wow! You are such a talented artist!! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge - loved your cute little laughs among your story-telling/coaching. Tee hee!!
please make a tutorial to sucure wigs who are too big :( btw I LOVE UU

Her first "how to wear a wig" video talked about securing the wig and tightening it with the tabs on the back
라우 exotic butter Sew a few of the wefts together in the back top part of the crown all the way around to the side hairlines.
Something about these wig videos calms me down so much
6 minutes late but still better than one hour

Wow! 🤩 This is so beautiful! I now love the idea of "rooting hair"! ❤
i bought one of the starter lace fronts and the hair felt really like itchy, any suggestions on how to make the synthetic hair feel softer?
Try watching her video about how to brush a wig, if memory serves, she speaks about using products to make the hair softer and easier to brush.
I've heard that fabric softeners not only help get rid of itchiness but also help to make the wig look more natural... let it sit in for a few days.
yay! thank you so much for posting this! human hair wigs are so expensive to buy if u wanna dye ur own wig, im in the process of losing my hair and this has seriously helped where wigs are concerned!!! xxx
I was just referring back to this and wondered if anyone has tried this without diluting the ink if you want the colour super intense? Does it still work or do you need the alcohol?
Have you found an answer to this so far?
im sure it would work fine! im trying it for some bangs on a wig
I have a question. After you dyed a wig this way, can you wash it as usual?
Sorry if you said it already in the video. I didn't catch it.
It's in the description box because I forgot to mention it! I wouldn't recommend it because the colors will fade with each wash. But you can always touch up the colors again after if it desperately needs a wash. XD
Alexa Poletti can you use other markers than Sharpies? Im from Finland and i don't think they are available here .
Kitty on a Tree
Yes, you can use other permanent markers. I used three from a pack of cheap markers for kids.
I'm from Sweden and we have sharpies, but only avalible at Panduro (craft store).
Have you asked in a bookstore/craftstore if they can order in sharpies (or ink) for you?
Please define "wash" (as I know nothing about wigs). Is it just with water as she does in the video, or do you also wash with some sort of shampoo?
sharpies are just alcohol based markers so i believe any alcohol based markers would work. ive used cheap versions rather that buying sharpies for other art projects for the ink and theyve worked the same in all those situations.

OH MY GOD I LOVE YOU!
You’re so enthusiastic and happy and I’m living for it
I have a lace front that I ordered from Rockstar.
Here is a vid about how I wear lace fronts & trimming them and all that stuff!: ua-cam.com/video/GW2a4LV172o/v-deo.html Hope this helps! x
Lookin thru the items I need on amazon while watching this! Love the positivity :D
You should show us how to get frizz out of a wig. I tried brushing mine but it was still frizzy and poofy.
Try using fabric softener! Just soak it for a while, maybe 15 minutes or so. Then rinse it out well and let it dry. It should help 😊
Natalie Gardner Oh, ok. Thank you! ^^
I love the way you explain how to dye a synthetic wig, I feel I can actually do it and I am going to try Tuesday when I get my ink.
I'm not even sure why I'm watching this I don't have a wig but I luv it
Did it with the Sharpie method, as none of the shops from where I live have alcohol based ink, and turned out great. From very dark blonde, almost brown to a gray and dark blue gradient. Thank you so much!
what do I do when my wig is a little to small and when I stretch it you can see the cap in the back
this synthetic wig is so much better than what i picked up from the halloween store!
Does it wash out? Or is it permanent 🤔
Thank you so much! From one artist to another, I greatly enjoyed your video and look forward to trying this technique on my own.
Can I dye a neon red wig a dark red color with this method considering you said a light wig would work best????
KittyZaeCat yeah I think it might work
KittyZaeCat Yeah~! As long as you're going darker, this method will work.
This is probably one of my favorite video in your wig series. Plus it was uploaded on my birthday.
ILYSM NOTICE ME SENPAI
ily too Maria!
OMGGGG
Maria Hede lol i accidentally bought a blonde wig for yandere XD
You are SUPER talented with this - have you considered creating a collection and selling them? Your wig color creation was like a gorgeous watercolor. LOVED it!
Does the percentage of the alcohol matter??
I used 90% and it didn’t work as well as the 70%
This is a REALLY good video!
Anyone know how to achieve a pastel haircolor from a cheap white wig?
Dilute the ink a lot with the alcohol and I do believe that should work
going to try and use this method to dye a wig with a grey gradient, this is a really well thought out tutorial! thank you
