The Catholic Church deserves credit for being all the church there was from the Roman era to the Reformation (which was arguably a deformation that Luther may not have intended), but despite the perverseness of Calvinism and other factors, the true mystery Church body of Christ has grown within and without the Catholic Church which now needs to look into itself with the effects of Vatican II and the bias of the current Pope, and not tell the world it must be Catholic. I admire the work of Hillaire Belloc but he was extreme in his Catholic apologetic, 'Europe Is the Faith and the Faith Is Europe'. Europe must be led back into the faith but it is a universal mystery, not exclusive to Catholicism. That's where I have to stand apart. And I agree with Belloc that the Reformation made the Christian into an isolated particle by himself. There is a church body but it is so rent with schism that a Christian can feel cut off as I have usually felt since 1964, all these bitter years.
