This was such a fun video! So interesting that you parents-in-law never asked about your life choices. I loved your "conversation" with your mom re-enactment, good Mandarin listening practice for me. The confinement month is also practiced where we live in Malaysia, and because it's very 'unacceptable' to bring a baby out before one month, I also stayed home for one month after the baby was born, but because we're American, didn't actually follow the different local confinement traditions. I did like that time at home with just me and baby, and not thinking about anything else.

Did your parents-in-law ask any question about your life choices? I didn't actually follow through all the traditional rules of confinement, like I can't last more than two days without a shower. I did enjoy the staying at home time, like you.

@@ruizhang4231 haha, my parents are from the USA, but they have lived in Asia for 16+ plus years, and have "adapted" over time to have more of the culture of the surrounding community, so for me, it's my own parents who ask questions and give a lot of advice about life choices. My husband is Mexican, and his parents are more on the "Do whatever you want?" not-questioning side.

Super interesting Rui! Fascinating differences. Thomas and I definitely have cultures which are much closer but even we still have a few culture shocks. 😂

It is true that chinese and European culture are very different. Just like Cameroonian (My home country) culture and European culture. I get cultures schocks regularly while being in Germany haha. By the way, can you speak French right?

Yes I can get by with my French, although people can tell right away I'm a non-native speaker. How's your German?

@@ruizhang4231 I have a near native level of fluency. I was asking because I am interested in doing a collab with you like half in French and half in Chinese. Would you be in for that?
