It's interesting to hear mr. Stephenson would prefer it to look like 675 LT from the get go! I have huge respect for him for sharing his knowledge and being involved in designing a number of cars I admire. I remember being fascinated with MP4-12C when it first came out and sort of struggling with its design. It is very restrained and I thought it could have a bit more flair. But I couldn't point out one thing wrong with it. I finally saw the car in the flesh at the British Motor Museum this year and I kept turning around after I examined it to look at it a bit more. This is when I started to seriously appreciate it. It's a cohesive, VERY well thought-out package. All he lines make sense. It's reduced to a point of being minimalist and I guess that's why people yearned for more but it's also why it matures very well. I seriously appreciate it now and would love to own one. I know it wasn't suposed to look like an F1 but it's the closest to it design-wise out of the whole line-up.
Thank you for posting the entire interview with Frank and the first video on the MP4-12C. I think we all appreciate Frank taking the time to share with Vince and the audience what the process of creating and designing the MP4-12C was, his perspective then and today, and I also learned a few things myself. As Vince mentioned in the video, most of us call the car the 12C for short or recognition. I think I will revert to calling it the MP4-12C, at least for mine, since it is a 2012 hardtop, and MP4-12C is the correct nomenclature for it. Also, I always assumed M stood for McLaren + Project Four racing.

I completely agree that it has aged very well. I spent time in a 720S recently, and I honestly don't think that the MP4-12C misses much.
