Just for clarity, who knows better.. i think you just inadvertently started a debate lol.. who would win in an extreme rules match between cactus jack and newjack??
I was 12 and watched this match live with an childhood friend. I was a die hard wrestling fan at that time and you will never understand how pumped I was for this match...needless to say it didn't disappoint. ill never forget how fast I hoped off the couch when he got thrown off the cell, you woulda thought I just won the lotto. Foley will always be the hardcore king.
We're the same age and I remember thinking that was the coolest 2 minute cell match I'd ever seen and was complacent with how gnarly that was. Then Mick worked his way off the stretcher and back on top of the cage...that level of commitment honestly gives me chills, what an absolute legend!
This man gave his all and risked his own life for our entertainment! Mick foley deserves to enjoy the best that life has to offer now. Thank you mick 💪
Wrestlers like Mankind and Undertaker are rare gems. We wouldn't have another set like that, ever... if never. 1990s was truly hardcore decade in wrestling, The Renaissance. Now-a-days we would be lucky if any wrestler would jump off the robes, muchless jump off a cage/cell match of any kind like that. Mankind and Undertaker took their matches and performance to a whole other level like no other. To this day, when someone asks what is the most intense wrestling match ever... I pick Mankind vs Undertaker as my number one always. It left such an impression on me as a teenager. Thank you Mick Foley and Mark Calaway.
I really respect the hell out of this guy! That Hell in a Cell match surely did entertain a lot of people and put WWE up on a pedestal but it's all due to guys like Mick Foley who put their bodies on the line every single PPV to give us 5-star matches. This man is a legend! No doubt about it!
He had a tooth in bedded in his nose from falling off the cage and smacking his mouth off a chair at the announcement table climbed back up to then be choke slammed through the cage unplanned (because the cage gave way) and still walked out at the end. And ran down to help the rock (think it was the rock) in his match with internal bleeding......🤯🤯🤯 the mans a G.O.A.T full stop
Wrong way round; his tooth goes through his nose after he takes the second fall through the cell, a chair he'd taken up there earlier falls through with him and hits him in the face when he lands. When he goes *off* the cell he crashes through the announcer's table and then lies on the floor until he's stretchered out, when he goes *through* the cell he manages to prop himself up against a turnbuckle and he's checking where his tooth's gone with his tongue, which JR thinks is him smiling.
Mick has done stand up comedy and if you listen to this interview you can tell he’s talking and telling the story as kind of a stand up routine. Great interview!
I'm glad Mick has taken care of himself after all the shit he's done to his body including all the unprotected chair shots he took. He has such a good memory with all this stuff over his career - Wanna meet him sometime
He's a great man. I met him in Pittsburgh one year and he is so genuine, it's unnatural. He IS the reason I haven't "gone home" yet. (Go Home - wrestle talk for "This match is over")
Mick Foley genuinely cared about giving the fans their money's worth in every single match even if that meant risking permanent injury. I'm amazed that he isn't in a wheelchair by this time. I'm glad to see that he's still coherent and articulate enough to recall his legendary 1998 Hell In A Cell match. Much respect and a sincere appreciation to this man for everything he's given to professional wrestling fans. Thanks for all the memories, Mick! #hardcorelegend
I remember reading both his books in high school (I even went as Mankind for Halloween once), so I know he’s a smart guy, but man I’m still captivated by him when he speaks, all these years later. No one else can articulate the brutality of wrestling quite like him.
Years ago in Australia, rumours got out Mick was meeting a competition winner at a Hard Rock Cafe in Melbourne. The place was packed of wrestling for hours, when Mick arrived the place erupted in applause and cheers. He let everyone get an autograph. What a legend. Love you Mick xx
One of my favorite moments was when Mick got the Rock with the "it doesn't matter" when Rock came out and greeted him upon return. So funny! Even The Rock broke character.
I remember it. I was a young kid back then. My dad was like: Don’t worry he’s ok, it’s fake” to which I replied: how can you fake that fall??? I viewed him as a goddamn superhero. Lol. Especially when he got out of the stretcher, I could not believe my eyes with JR: HE’S GOT A SMILE ON HIS FACE”. Lmao.

This is one of the wrestlers I want to meet someday. My mom was supposed to meet him at a bar of some sort back in March/April, but all this virus stuff started. We thought my mom had the virus, and Mick Foley sent her a video. She recovered not even a week later.

Mick Foley wrestled for other promotions such as WCW, ECW, GWF, UWF, various promotions in Japan and other countries around the world before he made it big in WWF/E.
My man got thrown off the cell and chokeslammed through the cell and the only thing he thinks about is "Where did that shoe come from?" lmao you really can't hate this man
To me, the most memorable Mick Foley moment was the 1998 Royal Rumble where he came out 3 times, once as Cactus Jack, then as Mandkind, and last as Dude Love. His Dude Love entrance that night brought me to tears I was laughing so hard, partly out of sheer surprise. Mick Foley was a legend in so many ways.
I was at that Rumble in 98' Was in San Jose. Mick came out first as Cactus Jack, with Funk as Chainsaw Charlie second, and the Rumble started off as a hardcore match. lol Poor Tom Brandi came out @ #3 and Mick & Terry stopped beating the crap out of each other just long enough to dispose of Tom in mere seconds. 😆 Mankind came out mid-Match and Dude Love made it to the final 4 with Austin, The Rock and Farooq. Mick had some ring time that night!
he's still the toughest wrestler I ever seen without doubt in all of wwf history, I'm not mentioning the wwe history lol. I mean this guy had part of his ear torn off during a match and still wrestled. And this match well I think we all remember how much shit he went through and he still finished the match. Your one of a kind Mick Foley thanks for the amazing wrestling memories
Blaze it up 420 I'd say Sabu and Terry Funk give Mick a run for his money in the toughness category (a lot of Sabu's injuries were his own fault though to be fair, lol.)
I love Mick and listening to him tell stories, I know he got hurt so many times and almost died a couple of times, but he gave us fans 200 % every time I stepped in the ring. When he stepped in the ring, you always knew it was going to be an awesome match.
Honestly I can listen to Mick Foley talk about his wrestling experience for days. Stone cold, should have Mick Foley on a podcast with a few others like Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Undertaker etc.

Mick Foley is easily the most underrated wrestler that has ever lived. When you think of the great "elements" of a pro Wrestler he's basically an A+ for all of them. Ability to carry and live not one but THREE legitimate characters (that right now in the awful state of wrestling would all be top-5 gimmicks), was great behind the microphone and his in-ring ability is extremely underrated. I think it's because of the Mankind/Cactus angles which pertained to less mat focused matches, that we just didn't see his true ability and genius as much as we could have. I really think he sit's up there with Brett/Curt Hennig in terms of technical ability - that's how good he was. Put it this way I never remembered him botching moves and when I watch his matches now, 20 years on, I smile at how good they are in terms of technique and construction. Really, really appreciate how good he was, what a legend
Foley was very athletic in his younger years. Dusty Rhodes type. May not look like an “athlete” but could go. His style took so much out of him so early. When he went thru the cell, he was only 23 days removed from his 33rd birthday.
This man deserves way more respect than he gets.He gave everything for thisa business.Put up so many younger wrestlers, lost his ear,his teeth, broke bones.Nothing but respect for this dude

@@cedscorpio5657 He knows better.
Just for clarity, who knows better.. i think you just inadvertently started a debate lol.. who would win in an extreme rules match between cactus jack and newjack??
New jack could stab mick 30 times in 98, and mick would still get back up and write a chapter in his book about it.
Heck yeah the OG of hardcore wrestling
If Christian Bale put on the weight he could be a spot on Mick Foley in a movie.
Somebody get Warner Bros. Pictures on the phone...
Damn, I didn't think about that until you said it, but now I can't stop seeing it. Lol
I see it lolol
Mark Hamill is a better fit
Ripper genius
I just want to thank Mick Foley for making my childhood epic. Certainly can't do it enough.
Mick Foley is one guy who I would generally love to just listen to talk, and tell me stories. Dude's dripping with wit, humor, and charisma.
What a great story teller Mick Foley is, I could listen to him for hours.
I know that he'll never read this but I'm going to say it anyway. Thank you Mick Foley. You gave us your everything.
Toughest SOB to EVER wrestle. End of story
We need hollywood to come up with a movie about mic foley.. his whole life...
Agreed. It would be pretty good. I want to see stuff about japan death match days
Yes and have Darren aronofsky direct it.
Idk man, I don't think there's a single actor living that's crazy enough to convincingly pull off playing as Mick.
Who'd play Miss's Foley
No just rewatch his matches...
Mick is such a pleasant person. I could listen to him all day
Mick's comedic timing is priceless
"...At that point he choke slammed Terry Funk out of his shoes..." The logic of wrestling, explained.
Steve of the Dead ahh ok I must have miss heard on stone cold and takers pod cast, hard as fucking steel foley aint he lol
The G.O.A.T
Hardly anyone ever mentions that he did a run in after that match on the same night.
MrMuttly55 can’t find footage of it anywhere either
Mick has done stand up comedy and if you listen to this interview you can tell he’s talking and telling the story as kind of a stand up routine. Great interview!
Thanks for that. I had no idea. Contextualizes the raconteur’s style!
This shows how loyal Taker was too the business
If there’s one thing that mick foley gave to the wrestling business, it was his guts. THANK YOU FOLEY!!!!!
That was a disaster, nobody should have been through that. Props to all three of them keeping it going.
So funny! Even The Rock broke character.
got him with the soco ,lol
I remember it. I was a young kid back then. My dad was like: Don’t worry he’s ok, it’s fake” to which I replied: how can you fake that fall??? I viewed him as a goddamn superhero. Lol. Especially when he got out of the stretcher, I could not believe my eyes with JR:
HE’S GOT A SMILE ON HIS FACE”. Lmao.
Damn dude. You brought back the feels.
Please don't take Gods name in Vain like it says not to in the Bible ☝️🙏✝️ God Bless you and your loved ones and REMEMBER JESUS LOVES YOU GUYS TOO, EVERYONE. I recommend to follow The Catholic Church which is the true Church founded by OUR LORD
Terry Funk got choke slammed out of his shoes
So much respect from me for all of these older legends. My childhood and countless memories wish all of them including Foley himself a wonderful retirement.
Mick Foley's sense of humor is the best. His book is awesome too
This is one of the wrestlers I want to meet someday. My mom was supposed to meet him at a bar of some sort back in March/April, but all this virus stuff started. We thought my mom had the virus, and Mick Foley sent her a video. She recovered not even a week later.
That's awesome news
Glad she’s better! Foly seems like a really sweet guy. He probably did that for many people.
@@xantastic6301 great way to try to make the story about you
@@uncommonsence153 FOH. 😂😂 Make it about myself.....SMH 😂
@@uncommonsence153 I deleted my comment just for you guy... now does that make you feel a lil better? 😂 Have a good one.
Thats a match everyone to this day talk about when its brought up. Wrestling fans and non-wrestling fans.
It's one of those, hey where were you when...
Either that or the TNA Sting vs Jeff Hardy match where jeff was high as a kite
@@Skrimtar82 There is a Reddit user that trolls comments and always ends with "and do you remember back in nineteen ninety-eight when the Undertaker..."
I also think about Shane vs Kurt angle
@@NewAnimeFreak357
True
King: "How is he still standing up?"
JR: "I don't have a damn clue. There's shoes, there's chairs, there's caps! There's a cage hangin...!"
King: "And there is a human being in there that is unbelievably indestructible. I never thought I would say that about somebody but this guy is indestructible! I mean, what more can you do to a human being?"
Re watching old wrestling matches and I'm now realizing how funny both JR and the King were. They really hyped the show with their commentary.
By far one of my favorite wrestler of all time Mick Foley. The man is a living super hero. Should have been called Unstoppable. When someone says give it your all. They mean Mick Foley.
This man literally gave his body and life for us kids and if you were adult the same applies, this Man needs his roses and should live like a king with what he did for us. Thank you Sir, from a little kid who was fascinated and caught in awe by your characters and harm you sustained.
How could you not love Mick Foley? The guy is humble, always respectful and just a sweet man! For everything he did for the wrestling business I think we all will be forever grateful. Thank you Mick!
The breed of athletes WWF produced, damn man
Uhhhhh. Mick isnt a product of wwe
Mick Foley wrestled for other promotions such as WCW, ECW, GWF, UWF, various promotions in Japan and other countries around the world before he made it big in WWF/E.
My man got thrown off the cell and chokeslammed through the cell and the only thing he thinks about is "Where did that shoe come from?"
lmao you really can't hate this man
Just imagine the fog he was in. He probably couldn’t tell you much in that moment.
@@dr.floridamanphd dzzzz.... ohh.... *where did these shoe come from?* dezz...
I love mick foley he’s such a wholesome person.
Mick Foley didn’t have to go so hard, but he did… he did that for us and we definitely didn’t deserve it. Thank you Mick.
@@SatoshiKong I'm convinced Sabu can't feel pain. No one just gets their bicep torn out and tapes it up like nothing happened.
ZombifiedBuizel I wouldn’t be surprised, dude’s got more scars than a burn victim lol.
Bro wresting is such an art. And this fkin man was the starry nights piece. Fkin great wrestler love this guy
Mick Foley & The Undertaker are the 2 inspirations for why I went into wrestling years ago. True legends of the sport
Amazing how coherent and articulate Foley is today - I mean that w/ the utmost respect
Ok thanks
I didn't care for Mankind before Hell in a cell, watching it live I have since had a new respect for Mick Foley and still do. Tough guy
What an absolutely amazing story teller
That hell in the cell match is the "Greatest Match" in wrestling history. Thank You Mick for entertaining us for years.
A legit, candid (as in NOT sanctioned by WWE) roundtable talk with Austin, Taker, Shawn, Hunter, Dwayne & Mick would be goddamn amazing.
I was in the arena that night. Never forget.
Me too
6 billion ppl claim to be in the arena that night
@@Jason-uw9ex Well I'm not bullshitting. I was 12 years old. Civic Arena, Pittsburgh, Pa Section A-14. 😆 👍 Still have the Al Snow foam heads they were passing out before the show outside the arena.
XANTASTIC XDXDXD
Legendary
My 6 year old step son literally brings this match up every day. That's how impactful it was.
im gonna sound old here but i dont know if kids today can fully understand how incredible these stories and these legends telling them really is... if you are attitude era or older in a million years did you ever think youd get this? it did not exist unlike today where active wrestlers do podcasts etc all the time.... like taker, so insane seeing him do interviews as himself... no its not real to me but taker is still taker ya know, he was always in character. just so fun
One of the best storytellers in the business.
Mick is a legend of this industry also I love that he's wearing a Rhea Ripley shirt
Foley is such a treasure
The fall from that cell will be burned into my memory forever. Mick is a true one of a kind.
Undertaker doesn't text. He collects souls
Foley was very athletic in his younger years. Dusty Rhodes type. May not look like an “athlete” but could go. His style took so much out of him so early. When he went thru the cell, he was only 23 days removed from his 33rd birthday.
Wowwww, younger than me. DAMN
He's no Adrian Adonis
Just think: Two of quite likely the most legendary wrestlers at the same time in the most legendary match of all time.
Still to this day, this match is on the top 3 of my all time favorite matches.
"You alright there, fella?" had me howling xD
Taker- " see if hes alive "
Terry- " hes good taker "
* chokeslam * 😂😂😂😂 I died
I love that he's wearing a Rhea Ripley shirt. Great to show support for that next generation
The sound of mick hitting that table still makes me feel physically sick, il never forget the first time I heard it live on tv
This man deserves way more respect than he gets.He gave everything for thisa business.Put up so many younger wrestlers, lost his ear,his teeth, broke bones.Nothing but respect for this dude
You are a really good interviewer. You were respectful, let him speak and didn't keep interrupting him and didn't ask dumb questions. From a fellow Scot :)
Amazing new input from Mick on his and Taker’s legendary match. Fn awesome.
