Sir, i was forced to read 20 books in the year 1963 by my Humanities teacher as part of the course curriculum. I came to know about English authors. That helped me. But today I am 77 years old and now you have tried to impress upon me to read and know about some important books. I think little time has left for me to read in read books. You are a great Teacher and torch bearer.

Dr Sb you should always list the books in your description, as well. I will add them here for others.
    1. Animal Farm, George Orwell
    2. Pride & Prejudice, Jane Austen
    3. War and Peace, Leo Tolstoy
    4. Picture of Dorian Gray, Oscar Wilde
PS: Worth clarifying "Farm" IS pronounced with an "r" in America VS England ( and only in the posh English accent)

It's unfortunate that I only discovered you recently. I wasn't interested in political affairs until the recent situations in Pakistan. I regret not knowing about a personality like you earlier, who is an institution in their own right.

    May Allah be with you.

I appreciate your effort not only to educate people but to motivate them to get into this excellent habit of reading. I am really afraid not many people can find time and interest in today’s world to spare time for reading including myself. Anyways, those who will be following your advice , and even they read just one or two books will be immensely benefited and your effort will be justified. I appreciate you takeout time for the topics and issues which May not be benefiting you financially. Your type of soul is really rare to find.

please, also suggest what is the best way to take notes? i usually sumarise main point once the idea has been established by the author

Thank you Moeez. It's really a wonderful initiative. I will recommend " Gabriel Garcia Marquez's novel, 100 Years of Solitude". I read that book 3 years ago and when exhausted, I finally finished it, I declared it the most amazing book I would never read again. Magical realism is very similar to the kind of stories your grandparents will tell you as a kid. The story of a wealthy family that lost everything, and the one son that had no choice but to keep them all together, it's 100 Years of Solitude.

Dear Dr. Sb. Adding a comment to mainly to support this great initiative. Would like to add that Brave New World is also a criticism of capitalism in the dystopian idiom. It really interesting how 1984 and Brave New World take on such divergent paths in the begining only to coverage in the end. There is a lesson somewhere in there I am sure.
One book that should be a part of any list of influential works is "Heart of Darkness" by Joseph Conrad (and any novel by Dostoevsky) .
Thank you for taking this excellent initiative. God bless you both.

Thank you Dr. Moeed for the continuation of this series. 2k educated audience by all means outweigh 40k people who are not aware of the facts and nor are willing to do their research. One thing that I would like to suggest you is that this video contains a lot of spoilers like in the cases of Animal farm and The picture of Dorian Gray. This makes it very difficult for one to pursue reading from cover to cover. I request you to contain only the information that can be found on the blurb of a book and try not to give this much insight of the plot. Thank you for your consideration!

It has been part of my thought process for over a decade and have been sharing it among Friends, colleagues and people with whom I get to meet.....In order to move forward as a person & society. We need to make Reading Books a way of life. It is the shortest possible way to do a lot more in life while learning from others experiences, ideas and much more. If Pakistan has to Grow/Progress. Our people should start reading more books. IA

Thank you Dr. Moeed for promoting the culture of reading.
Suggestion: A lot of these books are related to the western culture. Perhaps it may be a good idea to suggest books that are from the eastern culture and rich Islamic history. The Muslims had a golden age which produced some great work and scholars.
Also a book that I think is really worth reading that my history professor recommended: How to read a book by Mortimer Adler. This is an amazing book on reading techniques etc plus contains a list of classic books that impacted the western culture.

Dr Moeed Pirzada-- The Secret is a 2006 best-selling self-help book written by Rhonda Byrne. This novel is based on the belief of the law of attraction, that claims that thoughts can change a person’s life directly. The book has so far sold over 30 million copies worldwide and has been translated into over 50 languages. George Orwell was a Socialist Democratic writer searching for a dystopian World. Leo Tolstoy and Fydor Dostoevsky were brilliant Russian Writers. Jane Austen ( 19th CE) must be contrasted with Virginia Woolf ( 20th CE). NLs: like Doris Lessing, Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Umberto Eco , and the greatest novelist of them all Marcel Proust " In Search of lost time". must find a place in your V Log. Having said that , two questions must be addressed : Why is that there are several Indian English Novel Writers who have received International Prizes where as there is mere a sprinkling in Pakistan. There is these days a plethora of book proliferation written for children by JKR Rowling and a few others who target the young adults and their books are best sellers , but I doubt they make for serious reading. Wonderful fictional writers include John Grisham, Dan Browne and Fredrick Forsythe. They have several best sellers in their name. You can't beat PG Wodehouse for humor and John Le Carre for modern day Detective Writing. I wish you God speed for your current undertaking. BTW you don't have to review a Classic Book like 'Pride and Prejudice' reviews can be found on Amazon, Good reads etc. Finally kindly only name the Authors after whom English phrases/words have been constructed like Orwellian , Kafkaesque , Proustian , et al!

Very well said Dr. Sahab, very well said. (ref to your concluding remarks). True and painful.
May I recommend a book (though pretty sure you already have read it and we might see it mentioned in your upcoming videos / vlogs on the same topic)....its: 12 Rules of Life by Dr. Jordan Peterson....would very much recommend the audio book as its narrated by the author himself and carries his emotions while he talks about various topics.
    Take care

Excellent... Plz add "An Introduction to Contemporary History" by Geoffery Baraclough as a base book for understanding of International Relations.
