    Thanks for very informative vlog.
Despite few aberrations as well as omissions and commissions it may be helpful for the beginners.
Wish to inform that Indian Universities have been able to retain several historians of international repute like Prof.R.S.Sharma, Prof.Romila Thaper,Prof.Irfan Habeeb, Prof.Bipin Chandra and many more who are considered authorities on ancient, medieval and modern India respectively.
Your viewers/subscribers may go through books and articles by these stalwarts in due course and get true picture of the history of Indian subcontinent.

Dear Prof Zanjan, I have pinned your comment on top! I claim no mastery on the subject, and there are many generalizations in my broad sweep in this video, but I wanted to point out towards change of power dynamics between North and South with the arrival of European arms, tactics and knowledge etc! And I am glad at the quality and depth of comments on this video! My goal was to provoke a debate! which is happening but once again overall interest in the subject is much less! Most viewers are obsessed with the daily events and treat Vlogs as reporting sites! Moeed Pirzada

@@GVSNEWS dr. Pirzada, I do understand when you complain that your viewers are only interested in Pakistan’s geopolitical developments. I partly agree with you but to be fair with your viewers, if one’s house is on fire he/she don’t cares what new colour his neighbour is painting his house with.
On the same note, majority of your viewers are overseas Pakistan. Considering the current news embargo in Pakistan, you vlog is one of the few resources for any reliable news. I can turn on the CNN to see what’s happening around the world.
      Food for thoughts.

The ancient city of Pataliputra is not in South of India and not in South of River Sutlaj, but located in North Eastern India. It's present name is Patna, which is the capital city of Indian Province of Bihar. This may kindly be got corrected.Furthermore Chandragupta Moria dynasty later on taken over by Ashoka had ruled India except South of India, and ruled part of Afghanistan and Iran also.

Some correction The Mighty Indian Maurya Empire not only ruled upto eastern part of Iran and Central Asia, but the actual boundary of maurya empire is - Major Rock Edict 13 inscription clearly talks about the expansion of Maurya Empire - It mentions victory & influence of Maurya Empire over Selucid Empire, Egypt, Macedonia, and to as far as Magas of Cyrene , Alexander 1 of Epirus and to victory over Ceylon (Sri lanka) in the south. By the way this is the same inscription which talks about Kalinga War, but in the very same inscription ahead , it mentions about victories of Maurya over other parts. But people ignored that. i would suggest you to read a book - Book : Bharat's Military Conquests in Foreign Land. Author : Venkatesh Rangan. Regarding Indian History, which unfortunately we r not taught correctly bcos of distortion by British which was designed in such a way that to make us feel inferior. As George Orwell said - “The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own history'. There is a proverb that says, “Until the lion tells the story, the hunter will always be the hero.” No wonder instead of reading History of Indians, We read history of outsiders. And till now we read history which was designed by british. And it is a big shame for all of us. Like for eg - one fact that over 1380 years have been deleted from the Indian history in order to adjust it into biblical timeline which is limited in nature i.e 2000-4000 years. Prof Vedveer Arya has written books on this & has given challenge to western historians on this.Vedveer Arya has given his talks on UA-cam. OR Aryan Invasion Theory, which was designed to create animosity between North India Vs South India. Infact it has been proven wrong by many people. And this theory now has been debunked many people now. So, there are plenty of things like this. Its only now slowly a lot of things are being unearthed and debunked and they are coming to limelight.
When I am talking about India (it includes pakistan also as both Indians & pakistanis are the same people.
Some Indian Empire who influence went beyond India ( Modern Day India + Pakistan) :
      1. Maurya Empire - influence of Maurya Empire over Selucid Empire, Egypt, Macedonia, and to as far asMagas of Cyrene , Alexander 1 of Epirus and to victory over Ceylon (Sri lanka) in the south.
      2. Samrat Vikramaditya - Legends says that his empire reached as far as arab peninsula to Mid-Europe. No wonder why the traditions before islam and christianity in these areas are very much similar to Hinduism/Santana Dharma/Dharmic traditions.Infact Arabic Poet Bintoi, who lived 165 years before Mohmad, endorses the fact that Samrat Vikramaditya ruled over Arab to East-Europe & he praises Vikramaditya for bringing prosperity to them. I hope someday Arab Govts allow the research for this. Indian Calendar is also based on Vikram Samvat Era.*For those who dont know that over 1380 years have been deleted from the Indian history by british in order to fit into biblical time period which is limited in nature i.e. 2000- 4000 years.Infact Professor like Vedveer Arya has explained this & has given open challenge to western historians on this.
      3. Rajendra Chola : Great King of Chola Empire. Control over the land & seas.He established his supremacy over Arabian Sea to Bay of Bengal and conquered land upto Orissa & Bengal to whole south east asia upto Indonesia & Philippines with his influence reaching as far as East China Sea. By the way Chola Empire lasted for ATLEAST 1500-1600 years whereas Roman Empire lasted for only 1000 years
      4. Lalitaditya Muktapida : His empire extended right from Bay of Bengal to Caspian Sea. He defeated the Arabs, Turks(Turkmenistanis), Tibetians, & others. Defeat of Arabs by Lalitaditya was a humiliating defeats for Arabs. He inflicted extraordinary humiliation on the Arab armies. Lalitaditya ordered the arabs, who were left behind to shave off half their heads as a symbol of their submission.
      5. Kanishka - His empire extend from Northern India particularly from Bihar (state in India) in the east to Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, some more parts of Southern areas of Central Asia to Khotan areas(western areas in China) to Khorasan (Eastern areas in Iran).
      6. Bappa Rawal : He defeated the arabs and he thrashed & chased them upto Iran and made check posts all the way from Iran to India.
      7. Deva Raya II : Deva Raya II (r. 1422-1446 CE) was an emperor of the Vijayanagara Empire. The greatest of the Sangama dynasty rulers, he was an able administrator, warrior, and scholar. Defeated Gajapati Kingdom and annexed areas from them . Deva Raya II's empire included Kerala where he defeated the ruler of Quilon as well as other chieftains in the region. He later on invaded Ceylon and collected rich tributes there. The Zamorin of Calicut and even the kings of Burma ruling at Pegu and Tanasserim paid tribute. This information was obtained from the writings of Nuniz.
      8. Samudragupta : Samudragupta is undoubtedly one of the Greatest Emperors of Indian History . He belongs to Gupta Dynasty. And according to me, if we consider all the factors, Samudragupta is probably, the Greatest Emperor in the world. Prayag Prashasti inscription talks about Samudragupta Extent of his influence - His capital was Pataliputra. At peak, his influence extended from Bihar and Bengal & Bangladesh in the east to parts of Rakhine areas of Myanmar to Assam & North East India to Nepal in North to Afghanistan and parts of Southern Central Asia in the North west to Tamil Nadu in South & to Sri Lanka & other Island Nations like Java,Sumatra & Malaya Islands. His authority over Java,Sumatra & Malaya Island proves that he also maintained a strong Navy. Gupta Empire had regular maritime contacts with Persia, Arabia,Byzantine Empire, Africa, and even further.
      9. Ranjit Singh - His dominance was from western part of Delhi upto Kabul
      10. Maratha Empire - At its peak Maratha Empire stretched from Attock to Peshawar in the North West to Tanjore(Tamil Nadu) in the south & to Cuttack to influence reaching Bengal in east with Nawabs of Bengal handed over Orissa & agree to pay Rs 1.2 million of chauth(annual taxes) from revenue of Bengal & Bihar to Maratha Empire.

Over 1380 years have been deleted from indian History in order to adjust them to Biblical timeline of 2000-4000 years by British. Thats why there a lot of confusion fron the times of ancient Indian era to 12th century AD. Vedveer Arya have exposed that. And he has also given talks regarding this on UA-cam platform.

First of all really liked your analysis. Very coherently put. But when you say north is north of Sutlej and south is south of it, then you are saying ti from a person who is sitting in present day Pakistan (or North-West of erstwhile undivided India). But when you think as a person sitting in undivided India, south is south of Vindhyachal mountain and north is north of it. Now within this north region, you of course have the western region with places like Peshawar, Lahore, etc and then eastern region with places like Patliputra (today's Patna). So when Chandragupta Maurya, Ashoka, etc defeated kings ruling in Lahore, Peshawar, etc it was basically East dominating West within northern India. But later on when Marathas conquered a large part of northern and north-western undivided India, they did originate from South-West of undivided India. So in this case you can say South defeating North. From undivided India perspective even Raja Ranjit Singh was northern. So his taking over Peshawar from the Afghans was basically north defeating north. The above is where I have slight difference from your points. But your main thrust that South of undivided India got modern education and institutions much earlier than North is true. And within North too, East and Central parts got is before the west. So that way present day Pakistan had the misfortune of getting them much later.

In the last millennium (1000 AD to 2000 AD), anything north-west of river Indus, came to be considered as non-India and was referred to as "wilayat" and its people as "wilayatis".......a term they used in the meaning of foreigner and later used it for Angraiz. The people of modern-day Punjab were by all essence Indians, and they viewed (and still view) Afghan expeditions in their Punjab as foreign invasions. But the Maratha incursion into Punjab, was not viewed as foreign invasion by Punjabis. Adina Beg (an Arain Punjabi) invited Maratha to expel Afghans from Punjab and stated (according to Tahmas Nama) that we Indians first have to remove Afghans from our soil.

This is a very interesting take. Interestingly in India in recent times many data points whether be it about diet, or political choices, women empowerment, various attitudes it is seen that the difference is not so much between northern India and southern India as generally conceived but axially between north-west on the one hand and South-east on the other. And this south-east got hold of European knowledge first and remains even now inclined to progressive ideas whereas north-west is comparatively conservative in spirit.
One further point which perhaps also needs to be added is that Indian elites started anglicizing but they didn't just anglicise they somehow tried infused (for good or for bad) revivalism within that anglicization. So they both wanted past glory as well as modernity! And this is seen in India. Though there is a tension between modernity and revivalistic tendencies but they also somehow fuse together to create a synergy of sorts. Pakistan on the other hand sitting on the laps of Mohenjodaro and Harappa somehow succeeded in neither taking modernity, nor past but became fixated on just one aspect of Identity - the religious identity. I think you are right that Pakistani expats from the West can play a significant role if you can take que from how significant role the Indian expats are playing for India.

    • @alamgir5553
      @alamgir5553 Рік тому

Ironically, Indian intelligentsia is becoming increasingly fixated on religious identity of Sanatan Dharma, while Pakistani intelligentsia is increasingly becoming critical of the concept of statehood solely reliant on faith for its legitimacy.
The two countries will see the consequences of these reversals in the future.

The fact is that such vlogs are needed so that we can eliminate the unnecessary bias within us and understand the need for healthy competition with India, I cry like a baby when I realize that India has developed so much as a country and institutions that people like Modi are highly respected in those countries where he was considered a professional gangster, this understanding was not achieved before these vlogs.
The historical background of the subcontinent you painstakingly presented to us is very important and especially insightful, I will watch this vlog again.
What has been clearly understood is that we must now understand that Pakistan has fallen far behind India as a nation, now we have to remove these weaknesses from within ourselves and put ourselves on the path of development. It has to be done, my heart wants me to say here while speaking the dialogue of the film, O rulers, give us back those fifty years of ours, which you people took away from us because of your lust.

On one hand these Pakistanis take pride in Islamic invaders for destroying kafir temples, naming mountains as Hindukush, forcing jaziya on Hindus, converting people in mass, making harems out of Hindu women, breaking India on communal lines. Andon the other hand he is saying it was never about battle of religions bcoz Hinduism was never a religion.🤣🤣
Muslims from India have written letters to Afghans asking them to attack Delhi. It's well documented that Aurangzeb gave Hindu kings options to either die or conver to Islam. Yet this man is claiming it was never about civilizational battle (Islam vs Hinduism). He is saying Maratha had muslims in ther armies and Afghans had Hindus in their army. So what? Modi and RSS has also kept some Muslims in his party. Will you now accept Modi is not anti-Islam?
Islam has taken refuge of kaffar's secularism for far too long. Hindutva has risen after 1000 years to not only end the evils (like Caste System, Gandhism) within Hinduism but also to end the enemy of Dharma. All scores will be settled.
Moeed you must know Hinduism is not at the loggerheads with Islam only but Christianity as well. You will witness us engaging in a long battle against Missionaries in India mass-converting people with the power of Vatican Wealth. Hidutva will prove development does not need minority appeasing secularism. Hindutva will show the world how to teat Islam on the basis of Mutual Respect. Game is ON.

Interesting analysis. From my experience, a major challenge when viewing Pakistan in historical context is of classification. You have classified Pakistan as Northern in North/South divide. Is this classification correct ? considering that majority of Northern conquerors that succeeded till 1761 used to come from Persia/Central Asia and not the lands of modern day Pakistan. Now I understand that Pakistan inherits the culture created by these Northern conquerors and their descendants do live in Pakistan. But there is considerable Southern influence as well owing to the Sikh and British rule specially in Central-Southern Punjab and Sindh.
I think Pakistan is a very hard nation to characterize. I faced similar problem while reading 'Study of History' by Toynbee. Our identity is mainly ideological and lacks a concrete base. This could be a blessing or a curse. Nevertheless, the story of Pakistan is exciting and hopefully it will be long and glorious !

There was NEVER any country called "India" or "Bharat" until August 15, 1947. One has to go all the way back to Mauryan Empire to come anywhere close to what is now India. But the boundaries of Mauryan Empire are simply based on names mentioned in ancient texts and it's not clear if those place-names were actually part of the empire. That is why there are many different maps of the extent of the Mauryan Empire, none of which include southern India.
The word "India" is derived from the Sindhu, the Indus River, and for Persians who named it "Hind," it simply represented a region around the Indus River and beyond. This was later adopted by Arabs who then distinguished Sindh from Hindh because Sindh had become part of the Omayyad Empire.
The word "Bharat" was also some region in India, like Siberia in Russia, which never had any boundaries. Even when the British ruled the Subcontinent, it was called the British Raj, Burma was part of it, and the Viceroy of India also handled affairs of the Trucial States which are now UAE, Bahrain and Qatar.
The Subcontinent was always a region, like Europe, which consisted of various kingdoms, the Western regions of which were often part of the Persian Empire, Greeco-Bacterian Kingdom, Omayyad Empire, and later Afghan kingdoms, all of which left their mark (and progeny) in this rich cultural mix. Since the area that is now Pakistan was closer to Afghanistan and the Middle East, it was more influenced by them, both culturally, religiously and ethnically.
India always has had dozens of ethnic groups, just it had many kingdoms. To say that there was some "Hindu" ethnic group would be historically and scientifically wrong. Because of conquests and migrations (mostly due to Mongol invasions in Central Asia) ethnic makeup of the Muslim population in the Subcontinent began to change around 1000-1200 AD. It was also state policy among Muslim rulers of India to encourage Muslim immigration from Central Asia and sometimes the entire armies consisted of Mamluk soldiers. Immigrants and soldiers were given land grants, so they could survive in their adopted homeland. [This has been recorded in my own family history which goes back to hundreds of years]. Over time, these immigrants married locals and were so fully assimilated into the local culture that it was hard to distinguish them from the native population. Thus the "ethnic mix" among Muslims was not the same as among the "ethnic mix" of the larger Hindu population.
Since Islam rejected the notion of "caste," "Muslim" became an identity by itself. I know that both Indians and Pakistanis try to create an Indian or Pakistani identity but make a terrible mistake by confusing religion with ethnic and national identities. Each person has many MANY identities. One can be Hindu and be American, British, Indonesian, Surinamese or Guyanese. It takes hundreds or perhaps thousands of years for national identities to develop. Hardly any country now has just one ethnic or religious group. National identities are lot more complex and have to do with commonality of purpose, ideals, and culture rather than ethnicity. This is why even the UN speaks of "self-determination" rather than imposition of an identity on any group.

From Mehrgarh (Balochistan) to Shortugal in present Pakistan and Kalibangan, Rakhigarhi and other Saraswati sites near Delhi to Lothal and Daimabad(submerged ruins in gulf of Khambhat - Gujarat ) in south western India. Looking at the Indian comments, it seems they are also taught history their own controlled ways. Most of Moeed's contents refer to Western literature but they think it is a comedy.

It is most of it. Geographical referring is wrong maurya was from present day Bihar which is in north not south, South india had other empires like cholas marathas n all so he researched it but he researched selfishly

@@VickySharma-oz3vp You have to give him some leeway about his bearing. His origin is Kashmir. Everything below him is south. In Punjabi, south direction is called Deccan (modern day Telangana) and north is Parbat (means mountain). It does not mean there are no mountains south of Punjab. He did mix Mauryan and Gupta empires though.
He is right about the word Hindu as a single religious entity. Looking at the millennia of history of "Bharat", it is a very recent phenomenon taken from British colonial literature.

@@VickySharma-oz3vp Good thing you mentioned about his intention. We should all correct his telling of the facts. No one can fully judge or control someone's intention. Allow me to assume he offends many Indians. You might be surprised, he offends even more Pakistanis because they are not taught what he is telling them. A typical Pakistani does not listen to such "disinformation". That was the gist of my first comment of this thread. Delighted to interacting with you.

Well if he is doing it knowing that the mentality of pakistani ppl then it becomes worst thsn what their establishment is doing to them.
Half knowledge or you can say "disinformation" can do more damage to a society.

Dr sb just to correct one small point, the Morias were also Aryans from the north. Original inhabitants of these areas were Dravidians of South India and they never conquered the north.
