As for suggestions why not try to work on deck greebles? Stuff like anchors, liferafts, misc equipment on a ship.

I just put a few rows of rams on my ships because the broadsiding AI is drunk sometimes.

Why not using mimcs/decorations for whole head? Wouldn't ruin the aero/hydro-dynamics and wouldn't get in way of guns

It's a fair point, but I prefer using mostly real blocks because:
- Lots of deco causes performance issues.
- Real blocks are way faster to place and adjust.
That's just my preference, though. 😁

True, I still don't really understand how to do decorations. I always forget where is the root and then I cannot find and edit the deco later :D
I wish they made it easier to make decorations, like select volume just like in subassembly mode, and convert everything inside to decorations
