This webinar reviewed results from Phase 1 of iNEMI’s AI Enhancement to AOI for PCBA Project and talked about plans for Phase 2. The objective of Phase 1 was to establish common performance metrics to evaluate the AI value-add to AOI capabilities and provide recommendations to the industry on opportunities for improvement. The project team:
• Investigated existing and emerging AOI and AI technology status,
and identified major AI+AOI applications and challenges for PCBA
inspection
• Established common language and performance evaluation metrics
for AI+AOI
• Established test vehicles for performance evaluation
Phase 2 will focus on evaluating and characterizing the detection accuracy and efficiency of AI technology solutions integrated in AOI machines by different AI and AOI vendors. This second phase is a fast turnaround project that will:
• Conduct experiments to evaluate existing and emerging AOI+AI
capabilities
• Report on the AOI+AI landscape, evaluate test results, and recommend
a common performance evaluation framework
