    hi what is your opinionn on the cortland C16 Hollow braid. am looking at the 40lb and 60lb test. any idea how the ABS is for these lines

    • @TeamHardLife
      @TeamHardLife  Рік тому

      They are supposed to be with 2-4# of the breaking strengths

      @TeamHardLife I keep reading where people are saying the 40lb breaks around 60 plus and the 60lb around 80 plus. Is difficult to know how accurate these reports are.

      I was actually wrong about the braid... most of our braids break 15-20% over
      I got with the guys at Cortland braid

      @@TeamHardLife that means 40lb Test breaks at 46 to 48Lb still far below what people are seeing in the field. Think i need to buy some 100 foot (windon) samples and see what is going on.

      I wish I had a testing tool now so I could do it myself.. but they are quite expensive

    Also important to say: the 80lb Cortland C-16 stands out by being very tightly woven while the 60lb is super loose, the others are a bit tighter but still looose. This also majes the 80lb Cortland C-16 be the same strength, but thicker and harder to splice than the 60lb

      I am wondering if you got a different batch we don't see that problem here with the 80lb c16

      @@TeamHardLife hmm, I got two different badges, it's a fine line but since it tested about the same as the 60lb I see it as kinda pointless

    The last thing that any angler wants is to lose a fish because the line was not properly tied on the reel.

    Just keep the 30(or switch to one of the Raptos so there's less work spooling and we can still do the math on how that translates to bigger reels) for all the spoolings of the different line classes so we can make direct comparisons of how much more/less capacity you get, both between different manufacturers and different sizes, maybe in the future even between different batches of the same line, just has to be the same reel for all to really be able to make this investigations, then if you start testing the line strength we'll even be able to tell how much line of what actual breaking strength it takes to fill the reel and since one manufacturers 100 is another's 130, one's 130 another's 200, etc.

    • @TeamHardLife
      @TeamHardLife  Рік тому

      This is for all those who don't know that level of doing the math.. and for many it hits them on other levels and yes those tests are coming for line breaking strength..

      @@TeamHardLife well, it's pretty easy with a calculator and if you don't need it to be super exact just around where it's gonna be the calculator isn't even needed. Anyway would be nice to just have all those different lines on the same reel to get an idea how they compare, maybe do a playlist if you end up doing that,(at least the Cortland and Tight Line, the Gen3 and even the JB are inferior lines in my book so I don't really care about their capacity)
      but do whatever you think is best, it's already unbelievable how much time and effort you put into giving out free knowledge 😊

      @@TeamHardLife so far it's been JB, switched to Cortland, for solid braid Momoi Loure Soul, but gonna give the Sunline Super PE a try. Gonna try to get my hands on the tigh line, especially the 30lb and the 80lb cause the 80 Cortland doesn't really hold more than the 60. For Mono I use STROFT ABR for leaders, as well as BROXXLINE, really good as well, inexpensive and I had the opportunity to get some stuff in bulk for 10% the regular price a few years back. Then Momoi Super Extra Hard leader which I can get from 100lb/ 98mm up, though I don't really trust Mono anymore and try to avoid it
