For a Chinese, he's actually really good in English despite his heavy accent, and it's very interesting how fanzhen has a very strong point of view on designing a map solely based on the song and don't form a general style that someone forms after mapping for so long and I think that's how the Chinese community perceive mapping I guess. A lot of Chinese mappers like HW and Skystar has mapped so many maps, each with different quirks rather than a single quirk recognisable as 'its that one mapper's pattern' and I really find that quite interesting

I have really been enjoying your journey into learning about mapper perspective, and these last few videos have been excellent because of it. 6:26 coming back and watching this now, this feels extremely true. Between 2016 and nowadays, I feel like "aesthetically pleasing" long sliders have been mastered and they aren't as special as they used to be, every tech map feels like it has slider design I've seen before hundreds of times and whilst that was the case years ago, it's becoming much more apparent.

I don’t think you should have said he “doesn’t speak English”, if you could speak Chinese at the level he was speaking English it would be considered a great feat, just because he isn’t a native English speaker you shouldn’t be so critical. Maybe it wasn’t intentional, I’m just thinking of how hard it would be to speak Chinese.
In China they teach you English almost as intensely as math but the noises Chinese characters make don't translate to English very well so most Chinese folks know oretty good English but have heavy accents. It took my mom 30 uears and she still has a noticeable Hong Kong accent.
