The OG voice acting depicts the disassociation of the characters esp with James and Angela that's why in the first course of the game there is this dreamlike intonations in their dialogue. But as the game progresses it becomes darker. Angela esp she had moodswings in the OG and her tone always drastically change. In the remake they made the characters sounded too tired or depressed. It removes the sense of ambiguity. Bad acting is Harry in Silent Hill 1.
Yeah, the new version of "Laura plays the piano" sucks really hard. I didn't give a sh*t about Promise but this one being bad was devastating for me. Direct mistake by Yamaoka.
so many mistakes in this cutscene... the player isnt actually given the letter and cant read it at their own pace in their head, everything is just done in the cutscene, and the music is way too quiet and subdued. in the original the player gets the letter as soon as the piano kicks in during the song, a real emotional gut punch. This is one is just completely soulless. So disappointing
@@leander403 I've seen your other absurd comments, but sure, I'll bite. I do not like the remake. Silent Hill 2 is a perfect game to me and didn't need to be remade as bad as 1 or 4 does. This remake however, from someone who's favorite part of Silent Hill are the puzzles and analyzing the cutscenes; The remake is a downgrade in that aspect. The puzzles are simply because most of them are just not randomized at all. There's no replayability to a lot of them, in the original every puzzle was determined on the frame you started a new game, which each combination going off of that. The cutscenes however are also very simple to explain. There just isn't much body language to read and look at as well as the camera work being worse. An example being when you first meet Eddie, and the camera is placed over James while he stands tall over Eddie who has his back turned and is vulnerable. It gives a sense of superiority to James in that scene and it's just done excellently. The remake loses that aspect. Another example for the body language however is meeting Angela in the cemetery; a common theme in this remake is awkward eye contact. When James mentions he's looking for someone in the original, he looks away as he says it to break off eye contact, and he even puts his hand over his head. Remake James hesitates a little bit but... The eye contact is iffy. As for pretty much every other scene? One of your arguments was that the "voice acting was horrible." Sure, the QUALITY of it was bad, but they did a great job on the original because the lines that they needed to hit, they did so perfectly and some are really chilling. My favorites are "...and a corpse can't laugh" from Eddie (which has a different direction to it in the remake, which I'm not a fan of) and the cutscene right after where James goes "You think it's okay to kill people?" Which is why I dislike the voice acting in the remake. I don't believe it's the voice actors "fault" I think it's just bad rewriting and presentation.
