@@damsonn I totally agree with that. And there's even one game that microprose recently got involved with, can't remember its name but it looks very similar to EF 2000 and A-10 Cuba.
This and F22 seemed like DID wanted to make separate standalone sims of all three aircraft from TFX, which makes me wonder if they had any plans to make a standalone F117 sim in the same vein.
Was wondering the same back in the day. F-117 would be most limited, since it only was air-to-ground. If they did it (no pun intended) it would be best F-117 flight sim to date.
For me, the best arcade flight sim is Eurofighter Typhoon from Rage Software. Full dynamic campaign, multiple pilots, huge Iceland map. Sadly, it is not known and there are rare videos of gameplay on UA-cam. I've got the icebreaker expansion that isn't on sale anymore, and that makes it even more rare.
I just bought a EF2000 2.0 boxed version (after selling mine years ago) and going through the setup of the special DOSBOX version. I loved the campaign back in the day. Never won it but had fun knocking out bridges and enemy planes. Some quesiton: Do you use a HOTAS or just a stick with maybe a throttle axis on the stick (that's what I had back in the day)? Can you also share your dosbox configuration as the game appears to run amazingly well.
I'm using VKB Gladiator NXT and though I have separate throttle from TM FCS16000 I'm using only VKB stick for DOS gaming. It has built in throttle and twist stick for rudder as well. DOSBox config is nothing too fancy, here I used DOSBox ECE build (links in video description) as it seems to run this game well without accelerating time with higher cycle counts. I just use cycles=auto.
Tornado and Hind are from DI (Digital Integration), DID (Digital Image Design) made F-29 Retaliator, TFX and after EF2000, F-22 ADF/TAW. It's a common mix up.
I still own this on CD, had the dos version too. This was the ultimate flight sim for me. Not too hardcore but had realism, which is what I like. Im hoping Tiny Combat Arena will fil its shoes.. I tried this on my machine but it runs too fast. Any fixes?? I have the SUper Ef2000 WIN 95 CD version.
As I noted in the video description, windows version is unplayable on modern CPUs due to timing issues. You would have to use PCem with Windows 95/98 and emulate slower CPU. I tested it with Super EF2000 it works well. Or just get the DOS version and run it on DOSBox. EF2000 at the time of release was probably most realistic flight sim. By todays standards it's pretty simple. I doubt TCA will go anywhere near EF2000 - its dynamic campaign, weapons modelling (different types - dumb bombs, LGBs targeted with TIALD, anti-radiation missiles, anti ship missiles etc) and many other features (aerial refueling, wingman commands, AWACS intercept vectors) are just few of the features TCA will not have implemented.
I have this and Tactcom upgrade in their original boxes with full manuals. I have had them since the 1990s If anyone would like them I can send them by post for the cost of the postage. I doubt I will ever play them again.
Which version do you own? First release runs on DOS so you can use DOSBox tp run it. EF2000 v2.0 has DOS as well as Windows executables, so you can run it on DOSBox or PCem (or any other virtual machine running Windows 95/98), there is also Super EF2000 which was strictly Windows version.
I remember downloading the Tactcom patch for my 3d video card on a 33.6kb connection....45 minutes to download 8 Mb...The sim was great but the AI skill of allied pilots sucked
Mind blowing for its time. Really digging the visual aesthetics in this sim.
To be honest this game looks good even today. If done today, it could easily get away with those gfx as indie title.

@@damsonn the game is called "tiny combat arena". You might have even featured the demo version of it in your channel :)
@@CYON4D Yeah, I'm quite aware of TCA and am following its development quite closely ;)
@@damsonn nah, not these days, but still... can't believe this was out at that time man, wow.
Would have loved to play this game when I was young.
This game was perfect around '99... Still goosebumps, the music, the atmosphere, the graphics.
Loved this game. Wish a remastered version could be done.
its out there and its called etf2000 reloaded

Great memories. Thanks for this. I think i'll get my disc just for the music alone. Can't wait for the DCS Eurofighter
I enjoyed this game SO much. Back then a P2 and a 28.8kb modum was thé bomb; i even had a 2mb GPU :)

Just found my boxed game of this in the spareroom, with this addon disk. its in as new condition
Great work.
Another great sim from golden era.
Nice.
DID always made a good sim, for example Tornado, Hind and so etc.

@@rogerdarkman157 no problem man
I own this game but not the TACTCOM Expansion. I hope to find a copy for cheap sometime, I really want to see the 3dfx graphics..
TACTCOM didn't had 3dfx graphics. You need EF2000 V2.0 for that.
@@damsonn Oh.. Cant you install the patch after the expansion?
@@naib_stilgar EF2000 V2.0 is standalone version already patched up, you don't need base game or TACTCOM upgrade for that.

How did you get yours to run so smoothly on dosbox?
Use dosbox ECE, cycles=auto - info in video description

was 30 miles considered 'long range' for an AAM back when this game was made in the mid-90s?
