Luiz Vaz well he does have talent but I agree with you Luiz, he does this for a living he draws 12 hrs a day every day!! practice practice practice!!!!!
Anon Nymous I always say to people who think that some people can draw while they can't, that those people who can draw well owe less to a natural *talent* than to a natural *inclination* to draw. As you've said, they can draw well because they've practiced it for years, which they've done simply because they enjoy drawing.
+Oğuzhan Demirel Talent comes from skill, skill is obtained through hard work, hard work is obtained through a process of choosing what you want to do and then doing it a lot. :)
Learning how to draw, and I consistently get the best lessons from the comic artists. Composition, styles, perspective, coloring, posing, figure sketching, emotion, appeal etc. Can't think of any other genre that can tie all these things together so comprehensively as in a good comic.
The King of Comics is a titled reserved for Jack Kirby. After all Jack worked as a cell washer for Max Fliescher cartoons that Jim was talking about in this video so. . .
Sorry for the late response, but the paper is 11x17 that's the industry standard size for comic boards. If it was larger than 11x17 the board would be exact if it way bigger it would exceed the scanner bed since it's 12x17.As for your question about 14x17 scanner it can be done for $5,000. 23x17 I believe is $10,000.You can search online just type in the scanner specs and it will show up.Kinko's has a large 23x17 commercial scanner which is the better alternative.
A $2,000 12x17 Epson Expression. This scanner is over 5 years old and in tech years that's like dog years. You are better off getting a Epson workforce 7510 or7525.Both have 11x17 flat scanner,copy,email-regular fax wifi and can print as large as 13x19.You can print on regular paper, canvas sheets, poster, and bristol board. He got the large scanner and large printer between 2003-2006.That's when they were expensive and you had to buy them separately. Now you can just get a workforce.
He tried and he fail, so what? Everything you do in life is gonna succeed. But it's the passion the love and the possibility of what if it does hit big . I rather try then not try at all.
Hey man thanks for replying. I've been trying to figure this out forever... it been tripping me out hard. That paper hes using is not 11x17, its wider. And then when he scans it 4:14 you can see the there is more space on the scanner. I automatically thought man that scanner is sick where do i get a 14x17 scanner? Nowhere! Anyways thanks for the printer info. Appreciate it :).
Conday Tyrese is a R&B singer and an actor who did just the opposite of what you assume. He grew up in a bad environment and decided to the something positive with his time which is why he can be were he is working with Jim Lee... stereotyping ppl that you know nothing about is wasteful thinking...
I dont think it is difficult for a black person to get into comics. Just apply yourself for the dream and do it. I believe anyone can do it no matter what their color.
nothing cud be further from the truth. If anything pop culture/music/comics all fuel each other indirectly so as to not alienate certain audiences and create a wider market.
He was taken advantage of. They basically just took his money and ran with it, no one stopped and told him what he was doing wasn't going to sell, assuming he wanted to make money. I understand he's a grown man and all, but he always clearly doesn't understand the comic industry. Of course this is all from the outside and you never really get a complete view when looking in.
Oh man I always wondered what happened to this project. I assumed he just lost interest. Tyrese didn't seem to research the market at all. I thought it was just a one off passion project like Method Mans comic.
***** It was basically a shit product. No one stopped and told him what he was making was outdated, poorly drawn, poorly written, and doomed for the garbage heap. It was definitely a massive flop. I don't know if he lost money on this, but he certainly didn't make much. Someone should have helped guide him and gave him some real pointers. These industry professionals KNEW this thing was a bad product and knew it was going to fail, they should have stopped him and HELPED him, rather than that they were happy doing poorly made covers at I'm sure very high prices.
***** Jim Lee is all about the pay. I can't really be be sure about the others. Now I obviously haven't seen any of the checks, but from everything I know about Lee's history that's just how he has always been.
Mike Mignola did an interview where he stated he asked one of the founders of Image why he kept on drawing things he really didn't want to, just the same things he always drew? His response according to Mignola was that was his job. Mignola thought it strange and that the guy could do anything he wanted if he wanted to. I think he was referring to Jim Lee because it seems like everyone did what they wanted to to, everyone had passion for their projects, except Jim Lee. He just kept doing the same thing, and from all the interviews I have seen with Jim Lee, it's just a job to him.
Which is strange. Clearly, Jim has more than enough money to go do whatever he really wants to do. He could retire tomorrow and be set for life, so there must me more to comics for him than just a job.
Jim lee is like a Maduera, he found his style and kept with it. His work and pages had a wow factor that died down ever since his x-men massive debut. I see him as an artist who knows very well how to nail down a pose, however everything else after the pose has that typical Jim lee look and quite frankly, the poses he draws are hardly original and his mastery lies on his consistency to nail that pose off of every camera angle. Nowadays compared to David finch and a rare few of guys and gals he shies grossly in comparison with the true legend that is Frazetta. Technically speaking, I appreciate his style however I do not appreciate his lack of growth in taking that style and failing to push it outside of its bounds. When people see a comic, they can automatically tell what is a Jim lee cover by the faces of the characters and the blocky nature of his forms even his woman. The same goes for the successful Greg Capullo. To me these guys are storytellers/ storyboard artists who show a rather brilliant knack into cinematography which is a refined talent meant for consistency in storytelling for comics.
+RubbinRobbin Can you share some of your own superior work to give us an idea f what you mean? How many million comics have you sold again? Whats your pen name so I can find your work at the comic shop?
nagriamel You want to see what I mean than look no further than the Brian Bollands of the comic book industry. He actually takes his time to draw a comic the right way. The over rated Lee's and Farlanes do it because the business loves how quick they throw their shit out at you fans who fawn for their trash.
Brian Bollands?? You mean the guy who drew Judge Dredd and Batman-The Killing Joke? You mean the guy whoʻs majority of work now are covers for DC?? You mean the guy that WORKS for Jim Lee and Dan Didio now??? You talking about that guy??? The same guy whoʻs never out-sold Lee yet? You talking about the same guy?? Haha, youʻre not a very good critic, which is also an indication that youʻre not a good artist, which is further indication that you really donʻt know what youʻre talking about. Lee commands the attention of buyers, sellers, collectors, but most importantly the FANDOM. But I guess in your eyes the whole world is wrong and youʻre right. Yeah ok. In the meantime everyone except you are smiling all the way to the conventions, the comic books stores and the bank. Everyone except you and Bolland, whoʻs waiting for a call from Jim Lee for his next job.
nagriamel You forgot to explain why Jim Lee's Batman looks exactly like his Superman? Are you the cosplay comic con type that masterbates to DragonBall Z/anime type hentai? Take your time in answering these questions, they are very important.
Thats the best comeback you could come up with, after I just ripped you a new one?? Really?? Thats the best you got?? You canʻt draw. You canʻt recognize good comic art when you see it. You canʻt recognize good pop art when you see it. You have no knowledge of what is popular, profitable, and favorable in the industry. All you have is uninformed opinions. which donʻt matter. To anyone. Including yourself. How you live with yourself is quite amazing to me. Take a hike Ruby. Please , do us a favor.
I started reading American comics in the late '80 and must say Jim Lee was quite impressive at the beginning of his career. Unfortunately he's got worse over the years.
Yeah, sadly. He seems to have fully peaked with Hush and has gone down from there. His story telling just seems to get worse, and his anatomy more distorted.
Jim's workstation and setup look awesome. Envy these things and his talent.
Luiz Vaz well he does have talent but I agree with you Luiz, he does this for a living he draws 12 hrs a day every day!! practice practice practice!!!!!
what? this butthurt comment that everyone and their mother is using on the net.

Jim Lee is a great artist and Tyrese Gibson is a great actor...
Learning how to draw, and I consistently get the best lessons from the comic artists. Composition, styles, perspective, coloring, posing, figure sketching, emotion, appeal etc. Can't think of any other genre that can tie all these things together so comprehensively as in a good comic.

Am i the only one that keeps asking himself "what the hell is Tyrese doing there?"
D silva That's his character Jim is drawing. Tyrese tried at comics but failed.
interesting, i didnt know that.
D silva Yeah I was looking everywhere for this book. I heard it's terrible and wanted to see for myself.
If the comic didn't do well then why would they keep producing it.

That comes with the Wacom Cintiq. the monitor.
@92680BOYD yes, he is great !
He tried and he fail, so what? Everything you do in life is gonna succeed. But it's the passion the love and the possibility of what if it does hit big . I rather try then not try at all.

i think he created that comic
I dont think it is difficult for a black person to get into comics. Just apply yourself for the dream and do it. I believe anyone can do it no matter what their color.
the only thing Deadpool has in common with Spiderman, is the Marvel logo.

nothing cud be further from the truth. If anything pop culture/music/comics all fuel each other indirectly so as to not alienate certain audiences and create a wider market.

Win some lose some. I'm pretty sure Tyrese is sitll very well off financially. Maybe everyone thought Tyrese's name alone would help sell ? Who knows.
Joseph Ponce The only reason it sold any at all.

Why is Tyrese Gibson there...?
This never took off. They even spent money creation a motion book and everything... Sad
@njhed1939 white out
Mayhem is so unoriginal, just looks like Grifter without the hair.
Grifter wasn't that original himself, he was just Gambit with a mask.
All superheroes lack originality. It's a completely stale genre. It's been around way too long.
damn i have a similar sketch style that he has :)
@mrking0205 Stop hating. Your just jealous!!!!
I see a wedding pic..He has a white wife?? o.o
