it takes skill and balls to ink something so well and then get out the white out and start spraying it around. Very badass illustration.

I've learned so much with video! That zig-zag, with the little lines on top of that creates a very cool solid effect, brings the figure to the 3D world! The use of different pens and brushes to create more strong shadows in the body, more thin lines the face making it more clear! I'm really excited to use this new technique to create this more dramatic effect in my drawings!
    I'm going to draw now!!

Really amazing work on thor! Loved the inks and the way he used that white to make all that lightning effect! Really learned alot from his inking on how to shade certain parts. I'm still learning on trying to get that comic book style shade so this is a big help! :)

I've never seen someone do feathering with a chisel tip calligraphy nib... that was pretty incredible in and of itself -- without all the other sweet ass techniques he had... I mean... dipping an old brush pen into other ink to keep using it's sweet ass tip!? I'm totally stealing that.

I learned that different variations of thick and thin lines can help enhance a picture. Using different types of pens, like brush pens or sharpies or even white out, can really give the image movement and character. I also learned that everything does not have to be perfect and even though it looks messy, it can still look like an amazing picture. This video showed me that I need to broaden my horizons and try out different kinds of pens and to practice, practice, PRACTICE!

I know it's late but I'll totally tell you what I learned. get you construction shapes set and don't worry about exact details. just rough it then don't be afraid of black and cross hatching. I've always been afraid of over working an image. this builds some of my confidence. thanks!

I learned that different types of pens can give you different effects and that white out can be used in art in many creative ways! I liked that : ) like how he used it to make lightning and for the spatter effect. I also liked the brush pen! I learned a lot of interesting ways to use pens by watching him

i learnt where to ink, he balanced the general light source with the light source coming from the hammer. I was also watching the inking of the face and where he placed the facial muscles to add detail and realism I also learnt a lot about freddie's interpretations of muscles and proportions, how he balanced the legs and the arms to make his unrealistic image look realistic
Hes my favourite artist and i was so lucky to meet him at my comic con in australia, i saw all his amazing art folders :PP

In ink, blacks are generally used to show core shadows, which are the places closest to where the form turns away from the light, and for cast shadows, which is where light is occluded by a form. When limited to just black and white, feathering and hatching are used for gray tones and to soften transition areas.
Composition, contrast, and differently textured materials also play a role. The eye is always drawn to high contrast, which can be used strategically.

Great sketch Evan. Again thanks for sharing this. He has a great style. The main thing that everyone should take from this is to always be experimenting with tools and techniques. You can get some great textures from even the strangest materials. Using the edge of a piece of card to create rough lines or cotton buds to create a Kirby style energy effect, etc etc. Always use your imagination.

Gawd this guy is so fun to watch. Learned a few things here. Getting a basic sketch down...no need to get detail crazy with rough sketch. Second thing is using white out and a card for spatter effect. I used a tooth brush but ot throws paint in a line and the particles are the same size. With a card theres more variations in the spatter sizes. Excelent vid!
