One thing I've picked up even before that certain event in 2001is that even if I/we identify as a "muslim"... even if the person drinks alcohol, eats haram, indulges in haram, basically nothing about their behaviour reflects Islam but they put a tick in the box as identifying themselves as muslim then automatically in the mind of the other person we have told them that we are "backwards", "brainwashed" and most of all a "fundamentalist".
The fact we speak up about Palestine, or Kashmir or Uyghar or any other, whether the advocate is a muslim or non-muslim, we get slapped with the label "t3rr0r15t". In fact now, we should be expecting that we will EVENTUALLY be called it. I constantly expect it. Even whilst living a very quiet life, not saying anything ontroversial I anticipate it.
So we really should stop being surprised when we face such hurdles.
