His personal driver from Austria took the wrong turn and stalled in front of Gavrilo Princip, the killer. The death would result in many in the Empire who advocated for peace being told “he was their best ally and look what they did! They’ll do worse to us!”
More tragically, his reported last words were towards his wife, who he loved very much, calling her name as he bled out in the car…
