    I'd like this, some more stretches or solo drills would be cool too. Just something to work on a off day or post class

    Those butterflies will have you able to lay on your back and touch your big toe behind your head. That's a killer stretch..... I loved it I did everyday for 4 years when playing football. So when I got into high school I didn't stop and continued with stretching. I cannot tell you how many times it has saved me from pulling a muscle

    Thanks for these. I'm going to give myself afew more weeks till I think my rib is healed up.might as well focus on stretchs. These are nice ones to do while watching tv or reading.

      @@notionwaves1867 I've been doing kickboxing with my son which is after bjj with no pain. At home I had my son pin me down then did escapes without incident. However i was very protective. I actually was framing well being so protective. So that's one positive. However he's only 140 pounds and doesn't train bjj. I'm thinking of going back tomorrow. I did buy a new isami gi for my father's day gift and a nice rash guard im itching to use. Also I bought afew gordon ryan and danaher instructional I been watching the last month.

      @EvolveNowYoga 2 роки тому +5

      @@ColonelFluffles you should always get your feet into dorsi flexion when performing a movement that puts a lot of stress on your knee joints
      For example: when you are in the figure 4 stretch flex your top foot

      The torque goes into the knee when the hip cannot rotate correctly, either internal or external, the goal is to progressively work towards the advanced position not force yourself into it because you won't actually be stretching the muscles but instead putting stress on the joint ligaments

    • @brandonmcninja
      @brandonmcninja  2 роки тому +2

      @@knyghtkrawlr this is exactly correct. Never do something that stresses the knee. These stretches are all about the muscles in the hip.

    I dig these stretches... but, the reality is this: there are many people for whom this level of flexibility is NOT possible.

    • @brandonmcninja
      @brandonmcninja  2 роки тому +2

      I don’t really believe that to be honest. My flexibility was garbage when I started. Much worse than these beginner level stretches. It just takes a lot of time and effort to get there, and most aren’t willing to put the work in to accomplish the goals.

    • @knyghtkrawlr
      @knyghtkrawlr 2 роки тому +1

      Brandon is right, it just takes persistence and time. The human body can adapt a lot over relatively short periods of time and these are not abnormal ranges of motion, just uncommon

    • @smashleyscott8272
      @smashleyscott8272 2 роки тому

      @@knyghtkrawlr ... if it's outside the norm, it is, by definition, abnormal.
      The idea that everyone has the genetic potential for abnormal flexibility is as ridiculous as the idea that everyone has the genetic potential for abnormal strength and speed. Reality exists.

    • @smashleyscott8272
      @smashleyscott8272 2 роки тому

      @@brandonmcninja ... your flexibility mat have been garbage, but question remains as to WHY it was garbage. Was it garbage because of actual limitations created by your genetic potential, or was it garbage because you didn't focus on it.
      Whether or not you agree with my factually accurate statement isn't relevant. You genetics determines the limits of your range of motion, and this is NOT debateable.

    • @knyghtkrawlr
      @knyghtkrawlr 2 роки тому +2

      @@smashleyscott8272 i think you missed the content of my comment, it is NOT an abnormal range of motion; speaking from a human physiological stand point. Just because statistically most people don't have this range, due to lack of stretching, sitting all day, doesn't mean they are incapable of it. Yes there are people that have abnormal potential, this level of flexibility is not abnormal, put in the work and stop naysaying
