So I got a lot of messages asking for a video on the rubber guard and we finally got to filming it. Ever since my first year of grappling I fell in love with mission control. Specifically, because we had never heard of rubber guard or 10th planet and at that time only knew this one position. But working with it towards control and some basic submissions made my white belt days even more fun. So here you go; a basic set-up and some fundamentals into the rubber guard system with some of well known submissions. Stay tuned for part 2 next week, with some more fancy stuff! As always, thank you for watching and if you have any questions let us know. Shoutout to Rubberguardassassins! Check them out here on UA-cam or Instagram for daily top rubber guard content! Or visit their website: rubberguardassassins.com
I also liked the added details for flattening the opponent to finish the omoplata, such as scooting ‘forward’, or if scooting to the side (which I usually try to do) blocking his shin, which I’m imagining makes it harder for him to base out and maintain balance (a concept which no one has taught me before)
Dude, love your guy's channel... I watch a lot of demonstrational videos from various channels on UA-cam, you guys are one of my favorites. Rubber Guard and Mission Control are some that I have been interested in as a 2nd year white belt who trains in gi/nogi when not in damn lockdown or restrictions here in Hong Kong... I'm just learning the basics still but found Williams Guard an easier version of RG as I'm already a less flexible 46 y/o chap. Your video will give me inspiration to keep trying as you show pretty decent ways to mitigate the need for being super flexible. Thanks guys! Oss!
Jed you're a boss! Thanks for your message. I really appreciate it and its the main reason we keep working on uploading weekly content! Hahah believe it or not but I'm a huge fan of Williams and shoulder pin guard! We actually have a whole system for that coming out in the future (YT or DVD). Thank you and I hope you enjoy part 2 next week as well! Osú
For the top player stuck in rubber guard? Good question! Might do a video on that some day! Short answer; don't give them the angle or put them back or their back. Try and regain posture and work a pass. Or go full in and stack em 😆👊🏼
Mano, ajudou d+ esse ângulo pra fazer essa guarda. Eu estava tentando fazer no treino vendo os vídeos do Eddy Bravo, mas esse detalhe fez eu finalizar um faixa roxa hoje. Ajudou d+, obrigado mano!

9:38 "inserting a new shoulder" for that triangle finish is really interesting. What is the name of that technique where you use that hand? Id like to learn more. Great vid mate. Oss
Thanks brother! No specific name, just a grip variation to finish the triangle. If I were to name it to explain it I'd go with the prosthetic shoulder of doom 😂
I love me some rubber guard!

Does rubber guard translate well in the gi?
It's applicable in the gi but les optimal. There is a 'gi variant' named gubber guard. Check it out! 👌🏼
