Pre-filling filters is almost a thing of the past these days. Most vehicles and equipment have them mounted either sideways like yours was or even upside down. The ones on the top of the motor don't even have anti-drain back valves. Once they sit for around 30 minutes all the oil in the filter drains down back into the motor. If it had and anti-drain back valve changing the filter would make a real mess every time. That means every time you do a cold start there is no oil circulating until the filter refills. If you have recently ran the motor you will still have an oil film on the rotating surfaces anyway.
great points, glad someone is on the same page as me, I am waiting for the "fill your filter with oil" Nazi's to come out. Thanks always for watching and commenting!
The Kohler Pro yellow filters made in India have metal end caps. I just ordered 6 from Amazon and all of them are made in India. On my Kohler Command I use the Kohler Pro filters, on my Kawasaki engines I use OEM Kawasaki filters as well. Do the same with the oil. Whip City Wrencher does a great job dissecting oil filters. I know many cross reference alternative oil filters for their machines, I choose to use OEM filters and oil. Just my way of doing things. Enjoyed your servicing video. Thanks for sharing. ua-cam.com/video/A8ltnoorwis/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/Nn-ahxhMewo/v-deo.html

Hey I greatly appreciate you stopping in. I tend to try and stick with OEM filters as well, just make life easier. Thanks for the information!
