Totally brand new so the gem industry. Have only been fascinated and recently getting into it. Loved colored stones/precious/etc. since childhood. This was great. Such beauty and good stories.
Thank you Tim Matthews for taking some time out of your busy schedule to share with us & bringing some bling for Natalie to wear. come back soon. "rock" on :-)
I've seen what mining for Sapphires in Sri Lanka was like from a National Geographic show called, "Mine Hunters". It focus's around a group of four people lead by a gem dealer named, Guy to work together mining for minerals from around the world in order to have valuable gemstones be made from them. Jimmy the brawn, John the explosives guy, Fred the brains, and Zack the mechanic. The point is that mining for Sapphires in Sri Lanka is quite remote, there are wooden structures and water pipes used to drain the water and stabilize the mines themselves. The people have good teamwork skills like when the miner is doing filling a container with dirt, he throws it up for the person to catch it and sift through the dirt.
Thank you for presenting such beautiful gems, and the adventurous background details. I for one would appreciate video snippets from the field. Again, thank you! : )
Thank You for another wonderful video I have learned a great deal since I came across this channel all of the guest I have seen here are all grade A without acception! Thank You all!
JTV has been a go-to website for me as a new collector. I am so appreciative of the information I have gotten from their site. I have based many of my investment decisions based on info from that page. Thank you to Mr Matthews. My favorite stone was the yellow sapphire. I have one in my collection, too. It is a similar color, though a good deal smaller. Please keep up the good work.
Ngl I had my subtitles on and volume off and I was reading and when he said corundum it thought he said condom so I had to turn my volume on for a sec for that one.
I'm not really sure how you would be able to tell the difference between gems being heat treated now, manually, or the gem being heat treated in the earth, right after or some time after it was formed, by underground pockets of heat.
Ive been binging this channel lately and I would love if you guys could zoom in on whatever you are showing when u say "hold it up to the camera" cusss giiiirl l can't see a thing lol
I could listen to Mr. Mathews talk about his adventures all day! Thank so much for sharing.

He’s sophisticated and down to earth 🌏.
Sapphire comes in every color except red.
Mother nature leaves beautiful surprises all over for us to discover.
It actually does come in red, but then it’s called a ruby :)
Absolutely, isn't it amazing what a little chromium will do to a sapphire. Too little and it is a pink sapphire or just enough and it is a ruby.
Red is called Ruby.
Thanks Mr. Matthews! :)
