As a German, I am so freaking PROUD of her! I remember seeing her on German TV when she was still a kid and she became the youngest trans person in the world at that time, because her case was so crystal clear and urgent. I remember her doing covers on UA-cam. I remember her singing at pride evens in Cologne. When she released her first professionally recordes song and music video, I was so so happy for her. And now she's releasing music with Nicki Minaj, Sam Smith, winning Grammy's and stuff 🥺 I am in actual tears here! She deserved it so much! ❤

The SOPHIE tribute really got me in my feels 😭 her death was so tragic and premature. She was an immense talent and music visionary, i got to see her live the year before and her set was simply transcendent. She was so special and beautiful and full of life. What an immense loss.

Yeah if this is the Grammy’s token nod to trans women that would be really sad. Hopefully she continues forward. I personally think she will, her Halloween albums were incredible and flew way under the radar so hopefully with the spotlight on her she can put out some quality music that gets the attention it deserves.

I'm a trans man who only had the courage to come out in his 30s, after growing up without any real representation or understanding of who I was and why I felt so wrong in my skin. I didn't know before she won that Kim is trans, like me, but I'm so glad that she's out there and being open about who she is, and sharing her joy with us. Representation matters. Trans joy matters.
That extends to Sam, as well, of course. Nonbinary folks are valid and Sam is such a great inspiration.

The term "trans" is a term that's been around since the 1930s at least, and there have been many contemporary terms before that point for trans people throughout history. Learning new things can be overwhelming, especially if it's not something that you relate to personally. But just because it's new to you doesn't mean it's new to everyone else.
I'm not sure if you wrote this comment with any ill intent, so I don't want to come at you hard in response. But I do encourage you to take some time to actually sit down and do some reading and learn about the transgender people in your community. We are people just like you, and probably a lot more boring than you'd probably imagine. We're more than our labels; labels are just a way of us relating with ourselves and the world around us. Gender is much more complicated than male and female as is sexuality. We’re all a combination of both sexes. People can have XY, XX, XXY, XXXY, and XYYY in their DNA where X=female and Y=male expression. So only in aspect to chromosome, there are a minimum of five ways of genetic expression. And that’s not even to mention hormones that everyone produced in different amounts of both estrogen AND testosterone. So in that there’s different degrees of masculinity and femininity. And if you didn’t know, female is the default body at gestation until testosterone is introduced and makes a male. All men are basically genetically modified females. We’re not that different as male and female and some are in between more than others depending on chromosomes or hormones.
Educate yourself in some science please. Black and white answers and labels are for people who don’t want to think, are ignorant, and afraid of life in general.
