@@Dstrukt2k2 that's not the fact...it's totally different singing with your friends and in front of a crowd whatsoever. It's the fact that he was able to sing harmonizing while staying on key with the actual singer right next to him, an accomplished singer in fact. take 2:26 song for an example. You haven't heard anyone harmonize with Sam at all with that note since it's already high enough.
I keep revisiting this one. And, outside of the incredible harmonies, I finally figured out why. It's the moment when James tells Sam that, when he first heard his music, that he knew he'd be listening to his voice for the rest of his life. What an amazing opportunity for a fan to tell that to an artist and for an artist to hear that from a true fan. Who wouldn't want that opportunity? It's exactly how I felt the first time my dad introduced me to both Sam Cooke and Otis Redding. Even though they both passed well before I was born, that was exactly how I felt. I can't imagine having the opportunity to say those words to either one of those gentlemen and to be able to thank them for what they've added to my life by virtue of their songs and their talents. The closest I will ever get to that is to pass that love along to the younger ones in my family. Which, of course, I've done my best to do. Just a nearly perfect moment that will keep me revisiting this video.

Back again because I realized the other reason I keep coming back to it. Sam's genuine joy when Fifth Harmony shows up. In an American culture where hyperbole has become the norm and outsized reactions for no discernible reason is commonplace, his utter joy at meeting those women is palpable and genuine. He's not reacting to react or for any other reason than he's truly excited and happy. Just love it.

ikr?! it's not easy to harmonize against a melody, esp. when the singer is belting it out right next to you !! extra props for that. it's actually v. hard to keep pitch throughout. but he is professionally trained so he's good at it. :)

I've always come back for this Carpool Karaoke because of their harmonization. I remembered the time this video released and I watched it over and over again. I love Sam. I love the version of him in this video. It's definitely one of his best versions. He's still one of the best singer.
I missed a chance to be in Sam concert in my country in 2023 December because I had a surgery and had to stay in hospital for almost a month. I gave away a ticket. 😢 So sad.
