Based on the T-50 trainer’s superior performance and an armament storing capability, the FA-50 aircraft is further developed and upgraded with Tactical Data Link, Precision Guided Munitions, and Self Protection subsystem. Featuring a fighter jet-class flight performance, the FA-50 aircraft has been deployed and operated in the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) since 2013.

@@sayfolman7752 China had threatened SK not to sell FA50, not to bestow naval ships on PH. SK ignored China because you Filipinos stood with us Koreans during Korean war.
ROK Force also took weaponry donation from 1950's to 1980's. It is not shameful at all. PH also has to boost economy first at minimal expenses for defense like KR did.
Weaponry donation is really good program for PH economy. We Koreans are with you Filipino friends. God bless you and Philippine.

Ukraine war proved that you don't need 5th generation fighters all the time. Problem with 5th generation fighter is that they need more maintenance than 4th generation fighter like stealth paint and other adjustments needed to maintain stealthy. Just as 22cal rifle is better at shooting small animals, 7.62mm is better for bigger animal during hunting. You don't need Ferrari when you are driving dirt roads. F16 and F15 are just as expensive as F35 and only maintenance is cheaper. S Korean parts are also cheaper and readily available compared to the US and EU fighters. Buying FA50 fighters is smart buy which is battle proven in Philippines dropping smart bombs at terrorists. In Germany, more than 90% German Eurofighters can't fly due to delay in spare parts and funding. In Iraq, all their F16 is grounded due to maintenance problems but FA50 are still flying due to ease of maintenance.
I agree very much with your thoughts. People in some countries find the F-35A very free to use even for their very simple missions.
The ROK Air Force does not use expensive air-to-air missiles to hunt sparrows. Engineers' tools vary greatly and they cannot always use expensive tools.
However, the JAS39 GRIPEN will be overtaken by the advanced performance of the FA-50 BLK 20. SAAB is now very concerned about their market disappearing and their JAS39 GRIPENs require a higher operating cost per hour than the F-16V.
@@whiteelan7 I'm curious though and you seem to know alot about the FA50 block 20, can it fight against other multirole fighters like the Gripen or even f16? Imagine a scenario similar to the battle of britain during ww2 where enemy jets try to achieve air dominance in your skies and all you have was the fa50 block 20, will they be able to defend the skies against hostile forces? I'm expressing slight doubts over its capabilities since its only a light combat aircraft and not a full multirole fighter, but will block 20 change this?
Hoping my country's Philippine Air Force will upgrade the current 12 units FA50PH to Block 20 standard with BVR capability, Aerial Refuelling, Reconnaissance and Sniper Targeting Pods which can compare with JAS39 Gripen. And of course, hopefully our government's new administration (PBBM) will buy more Advanced FA50 Block 20 variants during his term to compliment 48 units intended for Light Multirole aspect to defend our PADIZ for the meantime that we have no MRF. Hopefully South Korean government and KAI will consider a sale of its incoming 5th generation fighter KF21 BORAMAE to our country in the future.

Not that these units would ever find themselves in combat and not lose anyway. So there's really little that BVR would help in. It's pretty much more so just in use for bombing.
Until now, we didn't feel the need to upgrade fa50 to block 20. Because it was not suitable for our Air Force's organization and was not profitable. However, contrary to our expectations, inquiries about block 20 are continuously coming from Poland and Malaysia, including the Philippines and others. I think maybe the Philippine Air Force will get fa50 block 20 soon.

This FA50 fighter jets of South korea has an issue of lack and so slow delay delivery of spare parts like what happen to the FA50 of the Philippines 12 of their FA50 only 5 is only operational and they are using now because the 7 has an issue of spare parts if some country will buy this fighter jets they will have the same issue like to the Philippines.
The operation rate of 142 fa-50 fighter jets owned by Korea is 90%. If the average fighter operation rate is lower than 70%, Filipinos' ability to maintain and repair is poor.
Don't blame the incompetence of the Filipinos on others.
The other country that bought the Fa-50 is not as incompetent as the Philippines. The idea of one Filipino that another country would be like the Philippines is silly.

동체 내부 가능한 공간에 연료탱크 추가하고 F414 엔진 통합도 하면 2탱크 달고 뭔가 무겁게 뜨는 것 처럼 보이진 않을건데…
F414해도상관은없지만 과무장임 근까 항전장비와 내부연료탱크만 보완해도 가성비 값 bvr전투기정도 되는데 굳이 비싸고 쎈 엔진을 쓸필요가없음
@@FOOC_A 404보다는 KF-21 하면서 414 쓰는게 좀 더 규모의 경제가 가능하지 않을까, 하는 망상이랑 지금도 2탱크 달고 4번에 훈련탄 달고나면 이륙할때 무거워보이는게 안쓰럽기도 하고… 공대공 외장에서도 다른 기종보다 에너지 기동이 좀 더 부족한 측면도 있어서 해본 상상 입니다..^^ 사실 414에 비해 연비는 404가 좀 더 좋고 무게도 가볍고 가격도 착하고 하긴 합니다.
지금 당장 필요한건 레이더 개량과 AIM-120 통합, 전자전능력 향상, 그리고 공중급유기능과 조종석 개량이죠.
FA-50에 어디까지 임무를 줄거냐에 따라 방향성은 달라지겠지만, KF-16을 개량하면서 더 복잡한 임무에 투입하려면 FA-50이 제한적인 작전능력만 가지고 있을 수는 없으니까요.
@@user-pi5fd4pn1z 그쵸.. 애초에 FA-50은 기체도 너무작아서 한화 AESA 레이더도 소형화해서 통합운용해야되는 상황이기도하고, 무장도 한계가 분명한 상황이라 방향성은 정해진거죠
다만 방공수호를 확실히 도맡기위해선 지금보다도 성능향상은 필수겠구요
솔직히 B급전투기인게 너무 명확해서 욕심부리지않고 소형AESA레이더 탑재와 암람통합및 단좌기 - 내부연료탱크 추가장착한다면 엄청난 만족이라생각합니다 ㅎㅎ

Very impressive aircraft. I wonder if a KAI can build this aircraft as big as a F/A-18E/F Super Hornet class. As the Japanese military built the Mitsubishi F-2 (a bigger F-16) with the help of Lockheed Martin.

우리 장병들, 관계자들 전투기, 헬기, 전차, 자주포, 미사일, 함포 등 하여간 쏘고 날리고 터트리는거 니 마음대로 할 수 있도록 해주고 싶다.

@@grimreaper1430 한국의 요청으로 미국 기술력으로 제작된겁니다.. 당시 기술이 많이 부족해서 미국이 도와준거예요.
그래도 한국의 약간의 기술력과 그 요청으로 모체는 '한국형'인것 뿐이고.. FA-50형상과 엔진, 각 항전장비들은 미국꺼고 사출기는 영국, 기계식레이더는 이스라엘로부터 들여온걸로압니다. 그래서 수출할때마다 미국에게 '허락'을 받아야 하는 이유기도합니다.

Fa18 호넷이 원래 흡입구가 저렇게 생겼었는데, 슈퍼호넷으로 크기를 키우면서 경사각을 줬단말이지, Fa50도 그것이 만약 기능적향상이 있다면 그렇게 교체를 해야하지 않을까 싶다.
