Sean. You’ve exceeded all my expectations of what this thing could be and it will now enter my small arsenal of daily driver guitars I’ll use in my amp demos. It represents to me both the worst and the best of what can happen to a piece of wood called a “guitar”. What was once cast aside like some “prom night dumpster baby” or leper in a leper colony has been healed. This is exactly what my channel has always been about - fixing that which has been neglected and left for dead. Sure it might still carry a few scars, but it will wear those scars proudly, as proof of where it’s been and how it was redeemed. Now it’s more than just a Gibson…it’s a SCARRED! Nobody better touch my Scarred Guitar!
You enjoy your Dumpster Paul, man! Play it and play it LOUD! I only have one question to ask: Why would they throw away a perfectly good guitar, a Gibson Les Paul no less? Why not sell it at a reduced price, or donate it to a school music program?
PRS has or had a zero tolerance "no such thing as a factory second" policy. Any guitar of theirs that at any time along the assembly line, didn't meet their strict standard, was taken to the belt sander and destroyed.
@@RichardGutierrezRG Yeah, but the caveat there is "At any point on THEIR ASSEMBLY LINE"... It's one thing to destroy something that you make in your own factory that doesn't meet your own exacting standards because of how high your own standards are, because it's your own reputation on the line (Paul has made a Great name for himself because he knows what his high standards mean to the folks that buy and play his instruments) but it's another thing altogether to make an instrument, send it through a supposed quality control check, send it out to a retailer, and THEN say "Meh... Take it out back and kill it with a hammer and dispose of it's remains in the dumpster!" Gibson just ain't what they used to be! Gibson recalled a bunch of guitars that hadn't sold... And in their INFINITE WISDOM decided to line them up on the ground and proceeded to RUN OVER THEM ALL WITH A FUQ-ING BULLDOZER... HUNDREDS OF THEM... WITH ALL OF THE HARDWARE STILL ON THE GUITARS... TUNERS, BRIDGES, PICK-UPS... THE WHOLE SHEBANG! AND YES... THE VIDEO OF THAT MASSACRE IS ON UA-cam... BUT YOU WOULD NEVER CATCH PAUL DOING THAT!
Sounds even better than a Gibson, and it has that history to it. You not only saved this guitar, you breathed new life into it which it wouldn't have had before. Simply amazing!
Yah Shawn, I watched your 3 full videos on this Dumpster Gibson Les Paul, You sure did a dam good job fixing that wreck up and made it into a Killer Babe Les Paul! Cheers to you again just the same as I have said to you many times already regarding many of your past videos! Rock On.............................................................................................................!
Man,excellent job rescuing this Les Paul. It played in tune and sounded great thanx to the overwound alnico II EVH PAF pickups. It had that just right tone. Way to go Sean 👍🎸
Wow. It may not be "perfect", but it's by far and away better than what came out of that dumpster. Keep this up and you'll either have Gibson wanting to hire you for its Custom Shop........or taking you to court 😂 !
Fantastic job Sean and sounds killer too. I found your channel as a long time fan of Brad and am now addicted to yours too! Thanks for investing your time and energy in making these videos, the time spent behind the scenes editing and getting it up on the screen for us all to enjoy. Cheers and much respect, Paul in the UK.
Adding shielding to the pickup and control cavities helps reduce noise and interference by creating a faraday cage. However, they must all be connected to the ground circuit.
You did an awesome job on that dumpster find, it looks great with sound that matches, Gibson should take note of your headstock angle and do the same. Waaaay cool. Have a great weekend Sean & Cathy 🤘
Brilliant job Shaun ,you could show Gibson a thing or two ,I did a phone box relic strat what somebody tried to smash up which we found in phonebox in Sheffield England, sanded the black off it all up leaing all the battle damage ,it plays ok ,but not up to your standard ,but your video s inspired me to have a go ,keepup the great work Shaun
This resurrected entity has three big gobs of mojo, sounds and looks terrific! Worth more than any same old Les from the Guitar Center. This one's been to purgatory, and was snatched and rehabilitated for the good of rock n roll.
Sean outstanding job on that Brad is going to be so happy it looks incredible. Sounds great. Looks like it plays amazing. You did a hell of a job on that and I can’t wait for Brad to get it back dying to hear him play it. Great job man.
Guitar should be named "Phoenix" cos it has risen. Also I agree Gibson didnt deserve to have their name on it moving forward considering what they ordered happen to it!
Are you going to contact Gibson and let them know you have one that works.😆👍 Now I have to look at that neck rebuild again because I can't see the repair and I don't remember how you did it. Killer job.👍👍🤘✌️
Great work as usual Sean! You gave that beaten down axe a second life. Side Note: I just foil lined he inside of my strat this morning. Very noticeable difference in "noise". Single coils now have to be up at max with high distortion to even hear the hum... Not sure what good it does for humbuckers, but I don't think it hurts to give some extra EMI shielding especially when it only costs about $1 - 2 per guitar. I know it made a heck of a difference on my latest IBZ style build. Even as an HSH it had some noise on almost every switch setting. Insulating the body with copper foil tape really brought the noise back down to near non-existance. Kinda like you said in the video. If you have it? Use it. It can't hurt, even if you can't always hear how much it helps...
I use automotive paint and body supplies ton my builds, too. I use 2K polyurethane as a clearcoat. Sean, I wish you could see the Stat I just built my dad. He broke down when I gave it to him. You videos have helped me come a long way in a short amount of time. And nothing built by man is perfect. To me, the small imperfections evidences the human touch. They are reminders of the craftsman who put his heart and soul into building an amazing guitar.
Sean I can't play and could never afford a Gibson, but I love watching your videos and started making kits for friends with your sound knowledge I've never had a complaint. Respect to you and the wife ,and a happy new year
After seeing the first video.... Man I am impressed. I hate to see a good guitar go to trash, and youve made this beautiful again. I applaud you for doing this and hope you have many good hours playing it
Hey Shawn Fred from Brooklyn NY here. Love your style brother and I'm an affordable guitar owner so keel up the gd work and smack the shit out of them trolls😅
Wow sounds like a vintage paul! Absolutely fantastic job restoring and in my opinion majorly upgrading! Sounds as good as a 58 with paf's! Exilent job brother! 👍👍👍
the guitar turned out nice hope you put some clear over the gold top paint as you likely scratch it up , the spraycan paint doesnt lay on verry thick so you wear through it pretty fast
I’m no lover of over priced guitars! I’ve got 50s- 60s Gibsons and they seem to be made during the Golden age of Gibsons. I acquired my from private owners and got them at very good prices. Today’s Gibsons are out of my budget! The point I’m trying to make is, Gibson did not have anything to do with the destruction of this Les Paul. Shawn you did a top shelf repair on the guitar! I think putting the Gibson logo back on the headstock would have sent a message to GC that they should NEVER had mutilated the guitar and put it in their dumpster! All though an inadimant object, put in the hands of the right player, the guitar will come alive and make fantastic music! It turned out great! Thanks Shawn for doing the repair and Brad for rescuing the guitar in the first place!
Fantastic job! I'd rock that beauty all day long and twice on Sunday! Love, love, love how it turned out too. Silver and gold together is just perfect. The BTG reminded me of the DGT PRS model. Keep up the good work. Cant wait to see what you do next. God bless and Happy New Year 🎊👍😎🎸
Love your work, and thanks for keeping it real. It seems to me that anyone who either repairs or builds a Gibson type guitar, does a better job than Gibson themselves. Especially when stupid headstock angles are afforested. As for the Trolls ............ Let them wallow in their own sanctimonious sad self importance. ... Happy 2024 ❤❤❤❤ Sarah xx
Nope! Couldn't have been no better. From what I seen of the condition of that guitar, you did an excellent restoritive job! Rock on! I have a conventional 2008 Epiphone. I'd be very happy just to have the EVH p/u's and the push-pull set/ups. So thanks for the idea! (If I ever get the money! LOL!)
Nice job sounds just right! Enjoy your vids and I like the way you roll! I've been scarring axes since the 60s. It ain't rocket science just need to follow the basic rules for guitar building! Having a nice, well equipped shop such as yours helps!💯🥰
Resurrection! Sean, your workmanship literally bought that axe back from the dead! Sounding sweet with those Seymour Duncans, too! BTW: Don't you touch mah Tin-foil hat! 🤣
Dear Sean. That thing sounds cool. you say its not perfect. I say "but its awesome". Now you did a top job on that and I did not know what to expect. wow its fixed good. take care from Helcat. have a great new year.
In your Face Guitar Center, also i live the fact Shawn, that you stated you did not have it in you to make a perfect Guitar, that to me means yeah you do...like Grace Jones says, I'm not perfect, but i'm perfect for you....
Just Love how the Dumpster Les Paul turned out and it has that killer playability and awesome sound, congrats bro really a job well done. The only channels you really need to subscribe on here is actually Semour Duncan and Scar My Guitar. 😃 Thank you guys you really made my day. Take care and i wish you a great Happy New Year! Good Night for now! 👍👍~Rob from Stockholm

Enjoy that thing! That’s a hell of a special guitar right there!
That is an exceedingly better guitar than it ever was fresh from factory. The Scarred DP BTG: Beauty from the Ashes
Badass guitar Brad!!
Super great job from the SCAR FOLKS.
Lot of smiles, Good Job. Cheers guys.
You enjoy your Dumpster Paul, man! Play it and play it LOUD! I only have one question to ask: Why would they throw away a perfectly good guitar, a Gibson Les Paul no less? Why not sell it at a reduced price, or donate it to a school music program?
Gibson disowned this honest beast. Let them sulk.
Guitar Center and specially Gibson should be ashamed of their practices. Awesome resurrection.
Don't blame Gibson for guitar centers ignorance. Amazing repair dude 😊
Except Gibson told them to destroy it.
PRS has or had a zero tolerance "no such thing as a factory second" policy. Any guitar of theirs that at any time along the assembly line, didn't meet their strict standard, was taken to the belt sander and destroyed.

Such an incredible job on that build, Sean... and Trey is a freaking beast!!
Brad said it all! You're my hero, Sean! Thanks for the oppertunity Brand ....and thank you Sean for the journey!
BTG. Better than Gibson! Great video!
Sounds even better than a Gibson, and it has that history to it. You not only saved this guitar, you breathed new life into it which it wouldn't have had before. Simply amazing!
Omg, this thing is epic!! You outdid yourself. Gibson take note! Scarred Guitars is coming to get you! 🎸🤘🏻
That guitar was never broken, more like assassinated. Fantastic work.
Yah Shawn, I watched your 3 full videos on this Dumpster Gibson Les Paul, You sure did a dam good job fixing that wreck up and made it into a Killer Babe Les Paul!
Cheers to you again just the same as I have said to you many times already regarding many of your past videos! Rock On.............................................................................................................!
Best overall repair I've ever seen, sick restoration bro.
Right on Sean. This guitar's got soul and a war story. Thanks to y'all for rescuing it from the dead.
Man,excellent job rescuing this Les Paul. It played in tune and sounded great thanx to the overwound alnico II EVH PAF pickups. It had that just right tone. Way to go Sean 👍🎸

Knowing Gibson, it'll be the latter
Bro you killed it on this one. Brad's gonna love to play this Guitar. 😎🎸🤘

Thanks for investing your time and energy in making these videos, the time spent behind the scenes editing and getting it up on the screen for us all to enjoy. Wow.
Gibson should put tradition aside, and adopt a more sensible headstock angle. 😮😂
Beautiful Shaun. Absolutely fantastic brother. Great job and properly scarred. Thomas from Idaho
