Sean, I got the Musiker Tele version. Same finish, pick guard, knobs, everything. It had the same build quality as your Strat. After spending an hour or so setting it up, no problems. Plays great. I'm bribing my son with it. Once he can play his first song, it's his.

I always love them calling those nut slot files. Those are actually acetylene torch tip cleaners. I got a box full of those from my days as a mechanic. Good video, Sean.

I'm in Australia and most people don't think they can do a string change or a fret polish or set up the action and notation I try to show people and if you have a fret ruler you can get your neck very straight and even put a little relief in the neck I learnt this all by watching on the internet how to that's so great what you are doing and helping people this is how respect starts thank you

Of all the things I've learned from watching your videos, the whole "feeler gauge + rubber bands" trick on cutting the nut is by far the most useful ... I used to sweat nut cutting and after that trick I could cut a nut blind-folded and half drunk and still do a good job (not that I would, but you know what I mean :) ).

All that dust, its polish residue. It’s used to polish the guitar at various stages after all wet sanding is complete. It does not affect tone; however, it should be blown out using compressed air, a rag, a vacuum and maybe some naphtha or similar. This polishing residue is used on the larger diameter circular wheel that is generally 100% cotton. Each polishing compound has various levels of very fine grit. If you don’t have the polish compound, you run a chance of burning your finish coat. You’ll burn the finish coat to wood in a second or less. The only thing to do after a burn though, wet sand and re-spray. Not as bad if your using Urethane, if your using lacquer, you have another 30 days of hang time, allowing the lacquer to set so you can final buff. Yes, you can do it sooner, 30 days is a rule of thumb. Yes, it’s a < $100 dollar guitar, but, it would take < 3:00 minutes to clean that mess out. 😊

I have found that the plastic neck plate washer/gasket is a good idea with Paulowania bodies as without it the neck plate crushes into the body easily when tightening up the screws...I've come back with epoxy to fill a couple of them...

I used edible mineral oil for putting on cutting boards and wooden kitchen utensils on my fretboard, and I have never seen a product work so well on a rosewood fretboard. It does not leave it so oily feeling like lemon oil, which is just mineral oil, but it seems heavier than what I used. It worked out so well on a rosewood fretboard.

Nice job you did with setting that "strat". Yet, when it comes to "a bang for your buck", nowadays I would recommend choosing between two sources: Indonesia-made Squiers ("approved" by Fender) and the Harley Benton (source based at Thomann) that delivers good "clones" of many brand-name models at a fraction of the price(s).

Turned out better than the Harley Benton nightmare I'm about to deal with. Bought this garbage around 4 years ago to learn with, but it discouraged me so bad that its been hanging on my wall since. Only recently found a guy in my area that may be able to help me out with it, so I can maybe learn something finally. The neck looks a bit like a banana, but the nut was cut too deep also. The frets are sharp as crap and unlevel all over, and the output jack is loose to the point the plug wiggles around in it. I could go on. Only paid around 130 for it to the door, but it'll probably cost me way more than that to fix it. If it had come from the States, I'd have just sent it back. Anyway, keep doing what you do.

You can call me out! I was the mystery Instagram poster, folks. I’m cool with being wrong about something lol. None of us knows everything.
I was informed by another UA-camr, shall we say. You’re correct that the UA-camr I got the info from did not distinguish between finished and unfinished wood. He has said many times that oil does not add moisture and only polishes the surface. He has said that the only way to add moisture to a neck is to humidify the guitar, preferably in the case or with a room humidifier. It makes a lot of sense that Sean said that logic only applies to a neck that’s 100% finished. It makes sense that oil will absorb into a dry unfinished neck because they are still liquids according to science.
My question is will oil alone be enough to really help a neck that’s dry enough to be cracking and bending beyond the fretboard itself? I would imagine humidification would still help in the case of a really, really dry neck, even if you do condition the fretboard. After all, the fretboard is a veneer of sorts on top of the rest of the neck. Maybe that’s what this other UA-camr has meant when he says oil only helps on the surface- meaning just moisturizing the fretboard par where oiling a dry fretboard won’t help humidify the rest of the entire neck if it’s really dry beyond the fretboard itself and leading to bending/cracking? That actually makes sense the more I think about it.
Maybe you and this other UA-camr are referring to two different aspects of dry wood and how to resolve two different issues? That would make both of you correct, actually.
    Help!! So confusing!! 😂😂😂

That sounds just like my Silvertone tri-burst after I set it up. It is made out of plywood and I don’t know what it is,, but after getting it right it was like that, big strong sound. 9.5 in radius, but polishing the neck, it was dry and clean the frets and It sounds good. People cuss plywood bodies, but this one is loud unplugged and hooked up to my little Peavey Rage practice, it can buzz your eardrums. That is a handy maintenance kit. Really good to keep in your gig bag or case.

That strat copy is nicer than my first guitar I had back in 1979. I had a Hohner Strat which cost me $129 back then. Today, that would be $546.69. I had to save for it over 2 months for that back then working at the music store I bought it from. I was a sophomore in high school. Back then, beginner guitars wore horrible. Luckily I worked at a music store part time and my boss's husband was a guitar tech. He setup my crappy Hohner for free. Back then, you'd have to get a name brand guitar to get a good one. They cost around $1,000. That's like $4,200+ today.

My son bought an Ibanez Gio from Sweetwater for $200.00. There was zero fret buzz. Intonation was perfect, Frets were perfect, no sharp frets at all, The string height was perfect. low action. Awesome pickups for a $200.00 guitar. I was mind blown. I went online to read other peoples reviews and found several complaints, but most people were happy and pleased with them. His guitar plays and sounds like a $700.00 guitar. I ordered one and I'm waiting to see what it's like when it arrives. It wasn't ordered from Sweetwater though it was ordered from Guitar Center. That shouldn't matter but I'll let you know what my experience was like after I receive it today. I doubt that mine will be as great as his was, but we'll see.

They bumped up the price on the Musiker to $130. Still a good deal at $65.

Seeing this made me remember I have a Martin strat I could use that toolkit on. I think I might. I need a new nut on it before anything though. The low and high E's are cracked. It sounded better than my Fender strat did even before I sold it, even with a cracked nut.

I have same sort of stick. But it's for strings cleaning.

I have yet to get something from Temu and they have been sending me Emails and Tests several times a day. Not a big strat fan but if you want a good starter guitar the price is right and with a decent setup you can actually get a good player. I loved the look and color of the fret board on that strat. Did they say what type of wood it is supposed to be?

At least it has a swimming pool route. You can put any kind of pickup in it.

I would have tuned it up properly and tried it again before starting the setup, (or did you)?

Swimming pool rout for the pickups. It's going to be hard to find a better deal than a sub $ 100 guitar for brand new.

Does the little plastic amp sound like a transistor radio from the 60s.
