Somewhere Albert King is loving that someone is shredding his Flying V, in 2022-ish.

Dave, on the guitar collection- go on utube it's all there. His story too. He performed as a child for BB King.( iconic blues guitarist singer years and years ago) He was blown away on Joes skill set then. He was a kid music genius on guitar. Now the keyboard man is a legend also( Reese Wynans who was Stevie Ray Vaughns keys player). One of the back up singers is Australian iconic singer Jimmy Barnes daughter Mahalia Barnes. Joe wears the sunglasses on stage only because the lights bother his eyes. Oh yes, a couple weekends and then repeat of Beth... so happy right now you listened and loved Joe... more more please.

I liked your reaction to joe, believe or not he thinks his collection down some a while back, said that he had to many. He said that doing that would let others injoy them. Also the one that he used on the reaction was a left handed one witch owned by muddy waters , who passed some time ago. The family let him use it for the tour. He said that it was hard to play because his sleeves kept turning knobs and flipping switches. Injoyed the reaction, till later......randy c.

Love Joe Bonamassa, another one from this same concert is "Breaking Up Somebody's Home" is fantastic as well. He is a child prodigy. At age 9 he was already in a band with guys 20 years older than him, and by age 12 he was touring with BB King. He is amazing!! One of the top 10 guitarists in the world. You should play more of Joe.

Joe was playing Albert King's guitar "Lucy" for this song. It was loaned to him for this tour by Steven Seagal. This was the final show in Joe's "3 Kings" tour, featuring the music of Albert King, B.B. King, and Freddie King. Joe has a huge collection of guitars and amps on his own. As he's touring, he frequently goes on what he calls a "guitar safari" where he picks up some more vintage guitars for his collection. Here's a "rig rundown" from 2022, where he talks about some of the gear he's using on his tour. He knows the story behind each of his guitars.

The bass player was/ is a studio musician in nashville for many(15?) yrs., and is credited with playing on more albums than any other musician. Even Joe's Flying V guitar is famous. Itwas Albert King's( King was left-handed, so his name appears on the fretboard upside down( Joe being right handed).

    Thanks DC!
Sorry I'm so late to the party!
You've landed on one of the best guitarists. Full stop. Period.
Joe has been rockin the blues since the early 80s and I didn't hear of him until a few years ago.
    How sad is that?
I've seen a couple comments recommending MOUNTAIN TIME. I've seen several of his interpretations of this epic track, but the one you want to see is "Live from The Beacon"
MOUNTAIN TIME (Live at THE BEACON THEATER in New York) is a showcase of his brilliance as a player for sure. But the dynamic delivery hits all the notes. His vocals are often overlooked but he really drives it home in this stellar version.
But he is PROLIFIC! Since 2000, Bonamassa has released fifteen solo albums through his independent record label J&R Adventures, of which ELEVEN have reached No. 1 on the Billboard Blues chart. He's the real deal!
A GREAT writer and collaborater too.
His catalog is rich, diverse and infused with his style which borders on rock fairly often.
Which leads to the band mentioned a couple times already... Black Country Communion.
Comprised of: Glenn Hughes (bass and vocals) from numerous sightings in bands such as Deep Purple among others, Derek Sherinian one of the keyboard players from Dream Theater and Jason Bonham, a talent in his own right and the son of the late legendary drummer for Led Zeppelin. 'Supergroup' gets thrown around a lot, but this lineup is staggering.
He explores a variety of styles and genres ranging from 'folksy' to 'hard rock' and leaves some pretty deep footprints.
As mentioned above, he is PROLIFIC, so lots to choose from, but I'll make some suggestions of my favorites...
    MOUNTAIN CLIMBING
    REDEMPTION
    DRIVE
    DIFFERENT SHADES OF BLUES
    DRIVING TOWARDS THE DAYLIGHT
THE LAST SONG FOR MY RESTING PLACE (Black Country Communion)
    BLUE AND EVIL
    Dude... lots to choose from!

As a poster mentions below, he is playing Albert King's "Lucy" in this song that was also Albert's originally. Albert was left handed so he is playing Lucy upside down which was challenging since all the tone/volume knobs are above the strings instead of below. So his arm kept bumping against them so not only uncomfortable but he had to keep adjusting them back to where he needed them.

This is a cover of Albert King. Note that the guitar was Albert's monogrammed Flying V. Albert played it left-handed AND upside down.
The keyboard player is Reese Wynans, he was the original keyboard player with what would become the Allman Brothers Band. Dwayne replaced him with Gregg for Gregg's voice. Reese later was keyboard for Stevie Ray Vaughan's Double Trouble.
If you liked "I'll take care of you", check out their cover of Etta James's "I'd rather go blind" live in Amsterdam. .

Many things about Joe that I would have commented on have already been said below. He's the real deal man, a child prodigy who opened up about a dozen shows for B.B. King when he was 12 freakin' years old. He's 45 now and has a catalog about a mile deep! The little bit you've heard him on is electric guitar so I'll throw you a curve ball. Here's one track from an entire acoustic concert he did at the Vienna Opera House. Brought his powerful voice with him too! Enjoy: ua-cam.com/video/NKE3itL4ApY/v-deo.html

What many younger guys don't know, Most of the 60's British invasion bands, were heavily influence from old American blues Players. The list is long, but for even Black Sabath Osbourne, Butler, Iommi, and Ward, schoolmates in Birmingham in the late 1960s, formed the blues bands, Polka, Tulk, and Earth. These evolved into Black Sabbath. Many rock players from the 70's and 80's were also influenced by the blues directly or inspired by earlier rock guitarist who were influenced by the blues. Rock was the evelotion of blues music and metal was the evolution of rock.

Always a great show. This was originally a Albert King song. A great Texas blues man. He always played a Gibson Flying V. I can almost guarantee you the flying V in Joe's hands was once owned by Albert.

As only a thumbnail picture of the Blues, Dave, it is the music that came out of the fields of the American South in the times of slavery, that the American civil war put an end to in the mid-1860s. Black slaves developed a musical style that is called "Call and Repeat" or "Call and Echo" where a lead singer would sing a verse from a song and the other slaves in the field would sing it back to him or her when he or she had finished the verse. This helped them get into a rhythm for picking their quota of cotton for the day, or whatever crop they were harvesting. The musical style is mirrored in the way the instruments are played. The singer will sing a verse and play it back almost exactly on his guitar or piano or organ or trumpet, or within a musical style of scales or variations.
It is a very infectious and beautiful musical style that appeals to people literally everywhere. The Blues is the root of all modern music, be it rock, jazz, country or even modern pop. It all comes from the Blues. That is why it hits you right in the heart. You have heard it before in every type of music that you love and this is it in its most visceral or instinctive fashion. The only musical style that is truly similar is Gospel. But Rock and Roll sprang from the Blues played and sung by black musicians in the 1940s and 50s, from songs handed down to them from the times of slavery. Now you know where Metal came from, as well! 🤔👌🎸💘😉😏

Like your recommendation. But isn't his best performance of that song from THE BEACON?
      Just my opinion.

@@josephbishop3590 Definitely like them both, but I really like the sound quality in RAH better, and the two drummer attack...

Bonamassa is a true guitar god, he doesn't play the guitar it is part of him and it flows from his soul. If I may suggest, GO SEE HIM LIVE! If you dont get goose bumps, you're a zombie.

Joe has an enormous collection of guitars. You can search for that on the internet and find him describing them.
