Yeah Jo Bonamossa has become kind of the face of blue eyed blues over the last few years and has become the performer that most everybody predicted he would and no one 1⃣ questions his guitar playing or old school blues roots which is why more and more of the old school blues masters jump at the chance to share the stage with him 😊😅😮😢😂❤😂😊❤😊❤

I saw him play in 2012 as part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Masters Series in Cleveland. The event that year was honoring Chuck Berry, and so a number of great artists, like Lemmy, Joe, Rick Derrienger, DMC, Ernie Isley and a bunch of others took turns playing 2 or 3 Chuck Berry tunes. The night concluded with Chuck performing a four song set and the entire group playing Berry's "Rock n' Roll Music" with all of them taking turns doing guitar solos.
True story... The guitar Joe is playing is old, very rare and very valuable. He found it at a garage sale. Lady had a low garage sale price on it. Joe wrote the lady a check for what the guitar was worth which was a large sum of money!

Early March, 2010, Peoria , Illinois. Stiff breeze with light snow. Just left a Bonamassa concert. Two couples in front with heads bent into the wind. One young man turns his head and yells in a serious voice To his friend, WE GOTTA PRACTICE MORE !!!
Since you have ties to Shreveport have to mention, song was written by Jerry Beach of Bossier City and became #1 hit by Albert King. Jerry toured globally and hosted weekly jam in Shreveport for 30+ years until just couple months before his death in Jan 2016.
Joe was a child prodigy and opened for the great BB King at the age of 13 years of age. Love your musical style and your knowledge of some of the greatest music ever made. Keep up the good work and your passion for music my friend. Check out Blue and evil by Joe Bonamassa.
The thing is his stage presence is a bad ass man, but he's totally opposite off stage. He's usually in a flannel shirt and jeans or coveralls. He's a self professed nerd. In fact there's a Vegas type sign outside his place that says "Nerdville". He binge watches American Pickers and The Simpsons. He was also a child prodigy. He's been playing like that since he was ten or twelve.
J. since you like the blues, that Eric Gales CD you received will hit ALL the notes too ! Joes voice has gotten better with age ! Got to see Joe some time ago in a bar with as a three piece band. Less than $ 20 to see him. Now I'd have to put a second on the house just to get in the door.
If you ever get into a theme of "one hit wonders," you have to check out my fave - "Spirit in the Sky" by Norman Greenbaum. We were rocking out to this in 1969. One listen and you'll be singing it all day.
Been to several Bonamassa concerts. Not only is he extremely talented, he always fills the stage with incredible talented musicians. "The River" is one of my favorites, but there are too many to name.
I only found Joe a couple of years ago myself. Man, he jumped to the top of my playlists. My top two favorites right now are the rocker, Last Kiss and the studio version of Sloe Gin, (those sirens really crush me).
Joe is the current reigning King of the Blues for good reason, and its certainly not because he looks like Quentin Tarantino on the morning after New Years Eve! RESPECT! He proves beyond doubt that its not the number of notes you play, its what you put into each one! Keep on truckin', and JUST BE A GOOD HUMAN!
Joe has a bunch of good live songs. " I can't be satisfied" "Just got paid " (a ZZ Top cover) "Ballad of John Henry" and "The Great Flood" just to name a few

My 85yo daddy was so freakin' into seeing Joe live after fan-boying over his PBS shows!!!! He was 85 at a literal rock legend guitar show.....Thanks to Joe Bonamassa for being such groovy dude!!
Thank you. There are so many Blues musicians that could do with your attention : Taj Mahal, Keb Mo, and so many more.
Abso-freaking-lutely
Joe grew up in the Utica area of central new York he played at my company Christmas party when he was kid we all knew he was special talent. That was a long time ago it's great to see you loving it.
Glad you reacted to this Jamel! Joe is one of the most relevant blues performers around!!! 🎸
Yeah Jo Bonamossa has become kind of the face of blue eyed blues over the last few years and has become the performer that most everybody predicted he would and no one 1⃣ questions his guitar playing or old school blues roots which is why more and more of the old school blues masters jump at the chance to share the stage with him 😊😅😮😢😂❤😂😊❤😊❤
It isn't blue-eyed soul. It's just SOUL! ❤
Is his singing underrated? He's underrated all around.
Also , the lead back up singer is Mahalia Barnes. Check out Lazy with Joe B and her father Jimmy Barnes. One if the best things you'll ever hete start to finish!
Jamel!! Tidbit for ya; that Flying ‘V’ gibson guitar Joe B. was playing, once belonged to Albert King. B. B. King’s older brother. Famous well before B. B. - AND If you want, there’s a yt-vid of Albert and Stevie Ray Vaughn playing together. Where you can spot THAT guitar! It’s pretty wicked ;)
I believe it's also a lefty
Joe wrote the lady a check for what the guitar was worth which was a large sum of money!
is this the trashbag guitar?
@@cdwilliams6875 yes
Man, have you ever heard something that you didn't know you really NEEDED? This cut by Joe Bonamassa did it for me. I've seen him on PBS before, but this song made me really want to hear more. Fantastic blues guitarist and his voice reminds me of another favorite, Boz Skaggs! JB and Jamel: Thanks, I needed that!
You need to react to Joe with Beth Hart. You will not be disappointed. She sangs her ass off.
Already done “I’d rather go blind “ about a year ago... can’t put a link from this iPad
@@grandabuzz4853 tbh, I've probably already watched it and just don't remember, I've watched so many people react to that, I'm sure he was one of them.
Redemption, by this guy is wonderful. You really get to see how great his back up singers are.
Dude!!!!! Bonamassa, MEGA TALENT. This was the last concert I attended. Most excellent show. Check out Mountain Climbing
My last concert as well.
He's from Utica, NY area...
He likes to watch Antiques Roadshow too! 😁💖
Joes humility has exposed the world to Soo many great younger artists! Thanks Joe!
Saw Joe when his band was a 3 piece and he was setting up his own equipment. He’s come a long way since 2004.
J. since you like the blues, that Eric Gales CD you received will hit ALL the notes too !
Joes voice has gotten better with age ! Got to see Joe some time ago in a bar with as a three piece band. Less than $ 20 to see him. Now I'd have to put a second on the house just to get in the door.
Joe is incredible. I would highly recommend “Reconsider Baby”.
That's great! I love the version he does at Guitar Center with Hubert Sumlin, Jimmy Vivino, and Tyler Bryant. If you haven't seen it, check it out.
Joe is so immensely talented. I’ve seen him live 3 times. Different show each time but fantastic!
Reese is always great and Joe brings everyone in the band together; great wind section
he has some of the cleanest sounding music no doubt. LOVE HIM and his band!
Everything about JB is underrated.
You'll never hear him on the radio, but his stadium shows are standing room only.
At the Fox theater in Atlanta!
Blues artists don't get enough exposure anymore. Thanks for doing your part in keeping this great music alive Jamel.I really enjoyed this one.🎸🎶🎤🎼🎹
If you ever get into a theme of "one hit wonders," you have to check out my fave - "Spirit in the Sky" by Norman Greenbaum. We were rocking out to this in 1969. One listen and you'll be singing it all day.
tks enjoying the Blues with me! U know, the Band! my son got me tickets too, enjoy Live!!! in Knoxville, Tennessee
That was Albert King's guitar he was playing. Yes Joe is the real Deal
Been to several Bonamassa concerts. Not only is he extremely talented, he always fills the stage with incredible talented musicians. "The River" is one of my favorites, but there are too many to name.
More Joe! His guitar playing is insane, and great singing! I recommend “So Many Roads”
What an amazingly talented group.
You should check out Joe when he was just a kid playing with BB King. I've followed him for years and thank you for this video.
Bout time, Joe is AWESOME............................ grew up about 35 miles from where I live.
Joe is amazing. Basically the next evolution of what was going on a while back that Kenny Wayne Shepard and Jonny Lang got going.
I only found Joe a couple of years ago myself. Man, he jumped to the top of my playlists. My top two favorites right now are the rocker, Last Kiss and the studio version of Sloe Gin, (those sirens really crush me).
Check out Joe on ‘Sloe Gin’ or ‘Ballad of John Henry’
Ballad of John Henry is the "heaviest" blues riff I have ever heard. That song is awesome.
I recommend Slow Gin
JOE BONAMASSA... melts me.....
🎶🎸🎙😎
Kirk Fletcher is a god damn master of his craft. Love that dudes chops.
Kirk has his own channel and puts out a video everyday...
Following Kirk rhythm guitar lessons great stuff
The other day I listened to B.B. King- Thrill is Gone (official video), followed by Joe Bonamassa- Thrill is Gone ( live at the Greek Theater.) That's a 2-pack of awesomeness watching those two bluesmen back to back!! Enjoyed it Jamel..thx!!
This is an old Albert King song, hence his choice of guitar. Albert King is one of the three Kings of the Blues...BB (of course), Albert, and Freddie. All are worth your time checking out.
Four Kings in a deck...New Orleans, late great, Earl King. Even Jimi Hendrix covered him, Ronnie Earl changed his last name in his honour. The man was also a incredible songwriter.
@@loilt5091 Yes, I know about Earl too. I don't consider him to be quite in the league of the other gentlemen, though he was certainly very good. Just my opinion though, I mean no offense.
I ran across a reaction video about 2 years ago, of Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa, doing "I'll Take Care Of You", and that was quickly followed by them doing "I'd Rather Go Blind". Two years later I own 7 albums and 2 DVD's, of them together and separate, and have watched Joe's recent online concert from The Rayman Theater. I never knew I was a Blues fan before seeing them. LOL
Dude, do the Eric Gales and Joe Bonamassa guitar duel!!!! That total guitar o mania!!!!! I just love good good music man, and Joe is one of the best out there, thank you! BTW, the organ player played with SRV :)
That's killer
Yep there’s that and one of Joe and Eric doing Red House on a cruise ship that’s just as impressive
Eric Gales is awesome.
In my opinion Joe's the best living guitarist alive. I know others would disagree but the man blows me away. He opened up for BB King at twelve and blew him away too. I've met the man twice and seen him in concert three times. A living legend. Thanks for the awesome review Jamel. Peace and love brother.
Bruh I’m writing this comment before I’ve seen this reaction but Albert King’s version is the best I’ve heard this song performed
Never heard of this cat before. Amazing song. Never seen a right handed player playing a lefty guitar either. Thank you sir.
Omg he is the man it’s about time the blues there is so many songs from him don’t know where or what to tell you to react to just pick and enjoy his back up singers o my you like them to listen to slow train live in Peoria omg those girls can sang ! You want another blues artist to check out his name is Walter trout take a listen
I've been listening to Joe since 2003. Love him
Joe Bonamassa "Stop" or "Driving towards the daylight" for the Marines.
Thanks Jamel, first time I’ve seen a reaction for Joe Bonamassa, this was a tribute tour to blues guitarists BB King, who Joe opened for when he was 13, Freddy King and Albert King. Keyboardist is Reece Wynans who played with SRV. Highly recommend Drive, How Deep This River Runs or What Would I Do, plus about 100 other songs.
Blues that gives you stank-face-maximus?.... Gary Clark Jr’s “When my train pulls in”!!!!!
Great channel and reaction ,Hey Blues lives best regards from the uk😎
This is an Albert King classic that has been covered by just about every hot shot blues guitarist. You should check out Albert's original version, and if you happen to think about it sometime, the great Frank Marino does a really nice version too.
Not to mention the fact that he's using Albert King's actual guitar, Lucy. . . .
@@squirrel2000 I remeber hearing an interview with Stevie where he decided after a bad incident at work as a kid, he decided that what he really wanted to do was play the guitar like Albert King, and never had another job.
@@squirrel2000 That's a great show. I actually got this DVD a few years ago for donating to my local PBS station. It was great to see Albert get so inspired by playing beside Stevie. Albert really doesn't get the props he deserves. Almost every blues and rock guitarist over the last 3 generations has a repetoire of Albert King licks even if they think they got it from someone else.
@@mortensen1961 Exactly----courtesy of the Steven Seagal Collection.
Jamal you commented on Joe Bonamassa guitar on the song live from the Greek theater I’ll play the blues for you. That guitar is originally Albert King‘s guitar look it up original blues icon Albert King. Glad you love Joe’s music. Love your channel and your reactions. Alvin.
Oh flippin heck! That was Awesome!!! More Joe Bonamasa please 😀😀😀
Joe is an amazing person as well as an amazing musician. You really need to check out 'Blues Delux'. As far as guitar solos go, the recorded version is a mike drop moment. I'll put it up against ANY other guitar solo out there. What you got?
I adore Joe!!!💓💓💓💓 I have over 240+ songs of his downloaded. One of the best blues players. His voice just talks to me, I couldlisten to him ALL day long. Anton Fig is awesome, I love when he tours with Joe. You should listen to Sloe Gin. His girls are amazing, this song doesn't do them justice. Joe iswell. Known for his solos and riffs. His guitar and Gender speaker collection is phenomenal. He needs to take the horn section more often, great sound. Check out Joe Bonamassa TV on UA-cam becsusecis a lot more than a singer/player, he teaches etc...
