Sunny talks about this night here: www.paristransatlantic.com/magazine/interviews/murray.html
Cecil was really floored by Albert after initially rejecting him.

I just read this interview and feel as though I know more about this music than I ever have. I've been listening to the avant garde since the early seventies. This interview with Sunny Murray has opened my eyes and ears. Thank you.

Does the live footage still exist? Would be great to see it.

    • @Thedudeisadude

It sure would! Denmark's main media outlet and TV channel, DR ('Denmark's Radio') supposedly had video footage of Albert sitting in with Cecil's group during this particular trip to Denmark (I'm not sure if this specific recording is from that trip, or if it was caught on tape). Unfortunately though, DR threw out these tapes ages ago, because they had to clear out space in their old storage rooms apparently. Or so the story goes at least... A terrible shame! I imagine there could be quite a bit of TV footage of Albert Ayler hidden away in storage at various European TV stations. Would be amazing if somebody rounded it all up one day. One can only hope!

Thanks for posting this. I've been listening to it for a while. It is interesting that the piano seems pretty much in tune here, while a week later when Taylor performed and recorded Nefertiti the Beautiful One Has Come the piano seems painfully out of tune. I'm assuming it is the same piano. Taylor has been quoted as saying something to the effect that a piano changes as the result of his playing it. I wonder if this illustrates that? Anyway, thanks for putting this up.
